Chapter 3

Kurt hesitates at that door. It was absurd that he was afraid to knock. On the other side, there was the woman he loved and whom he hadn't seen for so many years.

He was happy to be able to rejoin Christine, but for some strange reason, he was afraid. His legs were shaking, as if something might have changed. It had been a lot of that time.

His heartbeat was speeding up, if he hadn't held back, he would have risked transforming. Calm down, you're a grown man, don't be a kid, Kurt said to himself. What would his daughter say if she saw him shaking like a leaf?

He took a deep breath. He raised his arm and hit the door with the back of his hand.

Nobody opened.
