Chapter 54
While he waited for Cliff to pop the trunk, Gerry cleared his throat and tried his luck with small talk. “So, you’re married again.”
“Yep.” Cliff lifted the hood and nodded at Gerry over top of it. “Almost four years now.”
“I didn’t know,” Gerry said, reaching for the bag that Cliff handed him. “Congratulations.”
Cliff shrugged. “It was just a small ceremony. You know how people get over second marriages. Besides, you haven’t really been around. I didn’t see the point in sending you an invitation and making you feel like you had to show up.” He leaned against the rear quarter of the car and crossed his arms over his chest. “Glad you’ve come, though. It’s good to see you again.”
Gerry snorted a chuckle. “Oh, you are, are you?”
“Why is that funny?”
