A rare creature popped up

The water on the stove started to boil, snatching their attention back to reality. Crystal moved back to her place since she was done applying for the medicine.

Silas didn't look at her. He was trying to hide his burning cheeks however it was too late, she had already seen it.

Crystal didn't say anything and looked at him cooking the instant cup noodles and giving her one cup and getting one for himself.

Crystal took a sniff of the aromatic fume. Coincidence, it was also her favourite brand. The base was eggy, making the broth a creamy flavour. The noodles were thin, sucking the flavour of the broth.

Crystal took a bite of the noodles, and after being drenched in the cold water this was the perfect comfort food.

"Is it good?" Silas questioned seeing her face relax after one bite.

Crystal just nodded to his question and went back to devouring the cup noodles before focusing on him or the surroundings. One bite was enough to make her stomach rumble wanting more. It didn't take her long to finish the content in her cup.

Only then did she feel good. Her tensed muscles relaxed after having something warm. Seeing the satisfied smile on her face, Silas felt happy.

They soon returned back to school, but before bidding farewell, Crystal looked at him, "Let's meet again some other day."

Silas smiled and nodded in affirmation. Crystal's eyes sparkled seeing him agreeing with her. She ran back to her class, waving goodbye to him.

After that, they started to hang out often at the cave but at school they were strangers. Crystal tried to talk to him in school but Silas ignored her or hid from her.

His reasoning was that if Jasper and his gang knew about them being close he would drag her into this too. They hung out more, and he learnt a lot about her.

She was not from here, her parents immigrated back home after her grandparents died, and her father being the sole heir of the steel industry her ancestors set up had no choice but return.

Crystal didn't hate it here, but she also told him about her three best friends. If she got a chance she would return there and be with her friends. Listening to her words, Silas felt a sharp pain but he also understood that she grew up with them and no one would replace them.

Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months. Crystal always came up with weird stuff for their place and today was the same.

She calls him suddenly in the middle of the night, telling him to come to the place after school and strictly forbidding him to go there during lunch break.

Silas didn't think much and agreed to her request. It was lunch break and he was sitting in the cafeteria by the window all alone. Now that he spent most of the day with her, it was rare for him to pop into the cafeteria.

"A rare creature popped up." Jasper sat on opposite sides of him, putting his legs up on the table.

The smile on Silas's face dropped, and he turned frozen at his place. Why? Why! Silas freak in his mind but from the outside, he was stone cold.

Silas clenched his finger into a fist under the table. Jasper grabbed the untouched apple from his platter and took a bite. A second later he spits it out on the floor.

"Even your food is as bland as you." Jasper scoffed, throwing the half-bitten apple at Silas.

" Let's get to the point, shall we?" Jasper ordered, and on the table with his finger before continuing to speak.

"The girl who comes to you after school. Who is she?" Hearing Jasper's question, Silas's eyes widened in shock.

He immediately looked at him, his face turning ghostly pale as if blood sucked out of him. He knows. Silas didn't answer but Jasper noticed the look on Silas's face.

Jasper got up from his seat, walked up to his side and gave his shoulder a hard squeeze.

"Since you are my friend, how about you set me up with her?" Jasper asked, smiling like he had no bad intentions. But everyone knows what kind of guy Jasper was. He was a hungry wolf, who dumped girls once he got a taste of her.

Many girls have left school ashamed or ended up being pregnant by him. And if they do, Jasper never discriminates between genders when it comes to bullying. Anyone who forces him to take responsibility ends up horribly. That's the kind of person he was.

Just the mere thought of him touching Crystal with those dirty hands infuriates him. But he can't act recklessly and drag Crystal in it.

"I don't know what you're talking about." Silas tried to get up from his place when the hand on his shoulder shove him back in his chair.

"Come on, stop lying," Jasper said calmly. But the pressure on his shoulder got harder, almost breaking his bones.

Silas winced in pain but he bit his lips to control the pain. "Now tell," Jasper whispered in his ears.

Silas hesitated for a moment and then proceeded to say," It's no use, she got a boyfriend!" His voice was loud enough for everyone to hear.

Embarrassed that people would think he is into taking girls, Jasper hesitantly removes his head from his shoulder and lets him go. He swore that he would take revenge on him later.
