Elena

Having finished her task in the Royal Chambers, Elena returned back to the camp for the Omegas of Lycan Pack to resume her tasks under the terrifying command of Hela. It seemed like quite a relief for her considering the events that she witnessed in the last few days she had spent in the Chambers.

She hoped never to be found out as the one who had assisted the young Alpha to escape through the tunnels. Word had it that the new Alpha was on search of the person who aided his escape.

'There is something about him.' She thought but waving off the soft consideration she was nurturing in her mind, she scoffed. After all he murdered her father in cold blood!

Still, Elena was lost in thought, not able to get the scene in the Chambers out of her mind. She gazed into space leaning on the long stick she was using to push out weeds from the floor.

"You! Why are you still standing?"

Elena was startled, her soul almost jumping off her skin. She turned around immediately to behold the glaring sight of Hela approaching from a distance. Her coarse voice resounding through the path as she bounced with her steps.

Elena was scared to her bones, her heartbeat pounding in her ribs. She hoped that Hela wouldn't seize her by her throat again lest she be annihilated this time.

"I am sorry Hela, I was just lost in thought." She said calmly bending her head to avoid her fierce gaze.

Hela appeared in front of her from her side and looking down on her from the top, she rolled her eyes, her breath furious and sending waves of shivery into Elena's skin.

"This drifting away has been with you ever since you returned from your Royal duties. Anything you are would wish to share with me?" Hela barked still looking at Elena from over two inches away from her bent head.

"No…"

"That wasn't clear."

"No! Hela!" Elena shouted trying her best not to give Hela any reasons to suspect her any further.

Hela sighed and took a long careful look at her, her eyes dimmed as though she was looking through her soul but the petite Omega was blocked. She was wolfless and there was no way to see through her thoughts. An ironic advantage at that time for Elena.

"Well I hope for your sake you speak the truth. You know the consequences for hiding anything from me." Hela said, her eyes still blazing with a grimace.

Hela took one last look at Elena and walked away brushing her over with her broad shoulders. Elena staggered and almost fell to the floor.

Catching her breath the moment Hela left her, she heaved a heavy sigh of relief gasping. Luckily, none of the other Omegas was around to taunt her which was usually the next line of action following Hela's outburst or command.

She picked up the long stick which fell off when Hela barked at her and continued shifting the dead grasses away from the spot and heaping them on the spot where they were kept to be usually burnt.

The task was really difficult to finish, as usual she had been abandoned by her fellow Omegas whom she was assigned the task with and Hela saw no reason to caution the others for negligence.

"Why am I always suffering for others?" She asked aloud as though she was expecting an answer from someone close by.

Tiny balls of sweat were dropping from her face down her neck. Her hands had softened and turned red from pushing the dead grasses to a spot. Her legs had grown weak from standing at a spot for so long and acting as balance to enable her push the grasses.

"What a silly little creature." Came the voice from behind. Apparently Elena was not so lucky. She wasn't alone after all. One of the Omegas was walking by and as usual, Elena was always faced with mockery from them especially the male ones who considered her even unworthy to belong to a Pack.

"Need some help?" Cassius inquired, surely with a smirk.

"No I am fine." Elena said. She was certain that Cassius was only trying to look for a means to torment her and she didn't want to give in to his trap.

"Come on! You can't refuse a little help, I insist." Cassius said again, this time extending his hands to take the stick from Elena.

"I said no!" Elena replied her voice way above normal. She immediately realized she had just raised her voice at Cassius and shut her mouth trying to walk away to another spot to continue her work but Cassius was already pissed and with the eagerness he had to get under her skin, he turned the situation to his own advantage.

"How dare you raise your voice at me! You little creature!" Cassius fired with his eyes glazing at Elena.

"I am sorry, I want no trouble. I will just go on and finish my work." Elena said softly.

"Not so fast Elena. Why don't we do the work together. After all we are both Omegas of the Lycan Pack."

Omegas were of different kinds, those who were Omegas because they had not yet been able to shift, those who were not strong enough to be recruited into training because of their limited abilities and strength, the female Omegas who were of age and still not able to have found their mates and those who became Omegas either because of a punishment or because they were not legitimate members of the pack.

Elena belonged to all these classifications making her life very miserable and without any chance for relief.

Cassius on the other hand shifted a while ago and he had just been recruited into training by Ramon. He was no longer an Omega.

"Come on, let me help you." He said grabbing the stick forcefully from Elena's hands. She panicked for a moment and turned towards him to be certain of his next line of action.

"I don't want any trouble Cassius. I just want to finish my work and be gone." She said calmly very conscious of the tone of her voice, not eager to piss him off further.

"Oh no Elena, I want no trouble to. I just want to help. Am I not allowed to do so?" Cassius said with a smirk on his face.

Elena just shook her head slowly indicating that she was stating that Cassius was allowed to help.

"Well then. Let me help you." Cassius smiled and proceeded to shift the grasses to a corner. He worked for few seconds and feigned a gasp of exhaustion.

"Oh wow, this is really tiring!" He exclaimed wiping off an invisible sweat from his face.

Elena looked at him with a little displeasure from the act he was displaying. She dreaded any more casualty from anyone especially those who felt she offended her with her presence. Especially Cassius and many others.

Darkness was soon approaching and Elena was sure that Hela was going to come inspect the work. Woe betide her if she was not done by the time Hela came for her inspection.

"Please Cassius I need to finish up with my work." She said calmly.

"Fair enough, I will let you finish up. I am no longer an Omega after all." Cassius said and pointed the long stick towards Elena signaling her to take the stick.

Elena wasn't sure he had agreed to let her be, Cassius wasn't one to let go easily but she just wanted to carry on with her work and avoid trouble. She made an attempt to grab the stick but Cassius moved it away from her hand.

"Please Cassius!" Elena said with a shaky voice.

"Oh I am sorry Elena. That wasn't intended. Here, have it." Cassius extended the stick towards her smiling mischievously.

Elena slowly extended her hands and attempted to grab the stick for the second time but Cassius repeated the same thing.

He did it for the third and forth time. Elena got tired and stood still making pitiful gestures at him. She was pissed off but refused to show it, instead she pleaded with her eyes, tears almost running down her eyes. 'Hela is going to kill me.' She thought.

"I promise to let go this time." Cassius said faking a sympathetic smile. But Elena was fed up with his games. She hesitated still trying to suppress the liquid that had clouded her eyes.

"Go on!" Cassius barked in a deep but loud voice. His face showing signs of furry and eagerness to deal with Elena if she refused to do as he instructed.

Elena was jilted by his deep resounding voice. She gently held on to the stick and this time Cassius kept it steady without moving it ahead. She looked right into his eyes and there was a smile. Elena pulled the stick towards herself but it seemed as though it had hit a spring as it was forcefully pulled away from her.

Elena was still holding on to the stick with a tight grip and as it pulled away from her, she moved with the stick towards Cassius.

Cassius moved away dodging Elena as she moved towards him with a force, he let out his legs and Elena stumbled upon it falling face down to the ground.

"Oh no Elena! You really have to be careful. Now you have hurt yourself."

Elena gently lifted her head and puffed out some of the grasses that had stuffed into her mouth as she landed on the floor. She was right after all, Cassius meant no good.

Lifting her body gradually, she attempted to get up but she felt a hand grab one of her legs and drag her backwards. Elena attempted to crawl away from the grasp but the more she attempted to move away, the more her strength failed her.
