Back to work

Tala took Elena to the Royal chambers and asked some of the servants to tend to her. She was completely exhausted and the lower part of her robe ripped apart. Cassius was thrown into the castle dungeon to received punishment for his actions.

"What's your name?" Tala asked when she walked into the room and discovered that Elena was fully awake.

"Elena." She replied softly and trying to get up, Elena felt a sharp pain in her head. "Aww!" She cried out holding onto her head with both of her hands.

"It must have been from the impact you had with the ground when that young fellow hurled you to the floor."

"Rest now." Tala gently tapped Elena on her shoulders and helped her to lie down so that she could get some rest.

Elena slept all through the day, regaining her lost strength. Everyone in the Royal chambers was surprised that the Luna brought in an Omega into her Chambers to tend to her.

Elena on the other hand was so lucky that Tala was taking her irregular walks when she saw her. That was the first time she had left her chambers ever since her husband was killed and her son escaped.

Hours later, Elena opened her eyes again, this time she had fully regained her strength. She got up and realized that she was in the Luna's chambers. Shocked she quickly made a move to walk out of the room.

"You are awake. You really slept deep." Tala was seated at a corner watching her as she tried to walk out of the room.

"Greetings Luna Tala." Elena greeted, her head bowed down in reverence. She was pained at that moment that the Luna saw her trying to walk out of her room.

"You didn't think it was right to wait for me till you leave?"

"I am sorry Luna Tala. I didn't think you would have wanted to meet me in your chambers." Elena replied sounding very defensive.

"Well I brought you to my chambers. Sit!" Tala commanded waving her hand towards a chair in the room. Elena slowly walked towards the chair and sat down still bending her head.

"I remember you!"

Tala walked towards Elena and raised her face to be sure it was really her.

"Oh yes I am right. You were one of those Hela sent to work in the Royal chambers."

"Yes Luna Tala." Elena said softly, her voice shaky as she tried to bend her face again but soon cut it short, she didn't want to annoy the queen. She has always perceived the royal family of Lycan Pack to be heartless and eager to deal with anyone who crossed their paths.

"So how did you end up with the young solder with a despicable character?"

Elena tried to speak up but she wasn't sure of what Tala really meant by her question, but before she could say a word, Tala cut in immediately.

"Let me guess, he is your lover. Or maybe an old lover who you are trying to run away from."

Elena raised her eyebrows and looked Tala into her eyes. She found her words very offensive but dared not to say any words that would annoy the queen, especially at that point when she was mourning the loss of her husband and disappearance of her son.

Tala scoffed taking a look at Elena, then she walked away towards a table standing tall at another corner.

"How come you were still out working by that time? I perceive you were on a corrective measure for an offense!"

"No Luna, I was given the task alone, it wasn't a punishment."

"Oh well. That's a pity." Tala picked up mirror from the table and placed it infringes of her face adjusting her hair. Tala was a graceful woman, she was still young and gloomed with so much beauty captivating the entire Pack members who revered her for her courage and beauty. She was also stylish and offered great counsel to the female werewolves in the pack.

"Oh well. I have a new work for you. My servant recently passed away from childbirth and I have been in need of another for a while. You would have to replace her, at least you could be grateful that I saved your life."

Elena couldn't believe the words that Tala spoke. She had thought that she was never going to return to the palace ever again but apparently she was wrong. She dreaded the new Alpha or any other person finding out that she aided Bruce escape through the tunnels. No one in the palace seemed to know about the tunnel, not even Darius.

Elena had wished that she could reject the Luna's demand for her to replace her servant but she felt really indebted to her and didn't want to annoy her.

"You seem rather indifferent. Maybe I should let you go back to your tedious tasks where more of the male folks would have their ways with you."

The words the Luna spoke suddenly called Elena back to consciousness. 'It would really be better to serve the Luna than to go back to Hela.' Elena thought and without any further hesitation, she nodded in acceptance.

"Very well then. We shall proceed." Tala walked towards her bed and took out a new piece of robe carefully folded.

"Put these on, I can't have my servant looking like a mess."

Tala threw the rob at Elena, it landed on her laps and part of it fell to the floor. Elena bent down and picked up the part that fell to the floor.

"I shall let you change now. Be quick, you begin your work in Ernest." Tala walked out into the other room while Elena stood up to change into the new robe.

Elena gently removed the worn out rob she was putting on, part of it had patches and tiny holes. She pressed her nose on her hand to know if she had a stench but the servants who tended to her had cleaned her up. Certain that she was really neat and not smelling, she proceeded to put on the new robe the Luna gave to her.

The gown fit perfectly, Elena had never worn any presentable clothing since she she was captured in battle by the Lycan pack. She admired herself for a very long time, her blonde hair flowed down her shoulder matching with the red robe, she smiled softly seeing herself look so lovely.

On a second thought, she wondered why the Luna was nice to her all of a sudden. From the first time they met, Tala seemed to have a demeanor that she wasn't pleased with, she remembered her stern warning regarding going close to her son.

Elena wasn't sure of what the outcome of her stay in the Royal chambers was going to be but she was certain that she was not going to let anyone know that she aided the young Alpha escape through the tunnels. 'If only she knew.' Elena thought.

"Oh well, you look good. There was so much beauty beneath the dirt!." Tala was wowed at Elena's appearance as she stepped out of the room in the new attire.

"Now it's time for your first task. I hope you are not as fragile as you look."

Tala took a closer look at Elena observing her body closely. She doubted her strength given that Elena appeared smallish.

"Here, take these and wash them. Make sure they are clean before you return them."

Tala handed some expensive linen to Elena, she took them and left after taking a close look at Tala, that was when she discovered the tiny tears clustered around her eyes. She must have been so sorrowful but tried to put up a smile and act as though she was alright. It had been over 28 days since the fatal incident that changed the fate of many in the pack but Tala still wanted to see her son so badly at least to ask him why he killed his father. Tala believed that Bruce couldn't have but she wasn't so certain giving that she had seen him with blood stains running away from the guards.

Elena took the cloths to a spot, then she carefully placed them differently and went to get some water to wash them.
