Planeswalker

Selene had been stuck in the room with this man and several women for hours at this point. The moans and occasional shriek and shrill laugh had become a timed event, which she knew too well. Although she had been watching this man roll around with several women for the past few hours, after the first twenty minutes the surprise wore off. She was now bored and tired, but sadly she couldn't move her eyes away again.

At first, she struggled to get back to the lobby to study the clothing of the people she saw when she first got there. After some time and futile effort, she sat down and gave up. Her eyes were glued to this man, though her mind wandered far away.

'What the hell, am I being hunted by some kind of pervert. Who the hell just watches something like this for hours. I should finish up here and start tracking them now.'

The man thought while never stopping his movements to please the women on the bed with him. Several grunts and shrill cries later, the women climbed down from the bed and exited the room. Left alone the man closed his eyes and appeared to be asleep.

Selene whose mind wandered to who knows where noticed the quiet and snapped back. She looked at the man who lay on the bed with his eyes closed and believed him to be asleep.

Suddenly his eyes shot open and he appeared in front of Selene and snatched her arms dragging her to the bed and positioning himself above her. By this time his armor was back on and a blade was at her neck.

"A Fateweaver," he muttered in confusion.

Within a few seconds so much had happened and Selene couldn't keep up. At first, she was lost in thought, then she looked back to find this man sleeping, and now he was awake and on top of her with a blade at her neck.

"I thought we had a deal. The Weavers stay away from me and I don't cross into the books,"

"I don't know who you are and whatever deal you made with the spiderlings has nothing to do with me. I suggest you get off of me."

"You don't know who I am but your-"

Selene flipped over and grabbed his arm, she pulled him to one side and used the rest of her body to knock him off the bed. They both slammed onto the floor. He landed back first and with the added weight of Selene on top of him, the air raced out of his lungs.

Selene kipped up and stood over him. He was surprised and stared at her as he slowly rose to his feet.

'Who are you?"

"Selene of the Wolfmoon."

"A Fateweaver?"

"I am not one of them and never will be no matter what. They say they don't interfere but they stole my destiny from me!"

"So a Fateweaver who doesn't want to be one," the man paused and covered his mouth but it couldn't stop what was coming.

He burst into a fit of laughter so strong he fell to his knees. Between his laughter, he started to complain about the pain in his stomach.

"I speak seriously and you can't even respond properly," Selene scolded.

"Sorry, I'm sorry, it's just you really don't understand how funny this is. Tell me are you the only Fateweaver or do you have a teacher?" He asked while reigning in his laughter.

"A woman named Cadence would have me call her that, but she's just an abusive old woman."

"Cadence is still alive? Wow, that's a surprise thought the old bat would've gone back to hell by now. Tenacious to a fault."

"You know her?"

"Better than most. How did you start watching me kid?"

"I am not a child, even if I couldn't participate in my naming ceremony I am still a woman!"

"Even that old lady Cadence is a child to me. I've been around a long time. Now again tell me how did you start watching me, did she give you an old book?"

"You ask a lot of questions for a stranger. You seem to know a lot but I don't even know your name, yet you are asking me a lot of personal questions."

"These days I'm known as the Planeswalker to most. To you Fateweavers, I am known as the man who defies fate, and to a select few I am known as one of the last Dragons."

"You don't have scales, a tail, or wings. How could you be a dragon?"

"It's just a title. Now, will you answer the question?"

"Yes, she put an old book in front of me and told me to read. I opened a random page, read the title of the page, and appeared here."

"So you're inside the Records," The Planeswalker paused and began muttering to himself.

Selene watched the strange man and wondered to herself. Before she could escape into her thoughts he snapped her back to reality.

"By keeping a page on me in the Records and observing me using that page, you've broken the agreement. This means I am free to cross into the Records."

"I know nothing of this agreement and as I said before I am not and will not be one of them," Selene snapped.

"Don't worry child, you've done nothing wrong," He said while patting her head, though his hand was smacked away within a second.

"Look the fact is because of Cadence not paying proper attention to this matter, she messed up and allowed you to do the one thing all Fateweavers feared. You've allowed me access to the Records, now I can freely enter and search them as I please."

"And now that you have access what will you do?"

"Simple, if they've been keeping a page on me, then there is also one on my family. We go back even further than I am aware, and recently a certain ancestor of mine has been causing trouble. I'd like to know why I was used the way I was. While I am not the only person to escape fate, I am the only one that can do something like this."

"Something like what?"

"Get a prospective Fateweaver to assist me in journeying through the Records. You've allowed me access to the Records so I'll repay you with the thing you want most. Your freedom from Fate. I'll send us through the Records, while you experience some of the stories and keep Cadence distracted. I will be searching for the secrets of my family and a particularly mad ancestor's motivations for her current actions."

"Do we have a deal?"
