Aftermath

A woman with starting signs of crow's feet laid languidly across a large circular chair. Her hair was a dirty white bordering grey, her skin chalk white and dull, and though she was once tall and beautiful she now looked like a haphazardly constructed scarecrow.

"That little girl should've learned her lesson by now. Perhaps I should go and retrieve her now," she looked toward the far wall and her eyes continued to look far past it down several long twisting hallways.

"Perhaps, I'll check the next time I'm up."

Her head dropped back over the edge of the chair. She continued to lazily lay about, no one and nothing aware of what she was thinking nor would anything care to know. Her relaxation was interrupted by the violent shaking of her chair. It shook so strongly that the chair tilted spilling its contents across the floor. The 'contents' of that chair was not pleased, to say the least.

"Dammit, it's all because I brought up that little jinx. She can stay in that book for another ten years, that'll teach her a damn lesson."

Cadence got to her feet, cursing the absent Selene. She continued making many plans to discipline Selene in increasingly creative ways. It took her much longer than it should've to realize that her chair was not the only thing shaking, but so were the walls, floor, and ceiling. The entire building was shaking, which was not normal as it was not in a place that even had the concept of earthquakes.

Cadence broke into a sprint. She charged through the halls like a bull in a china shop, not stopping or caring for what she broke along the way. Soon she arrived at the source of the shaking and was both shocked and pissed.

A shining black book was violently trembling atop a pedestal. She had already seen the changes in the book after she sent Selene into it, but this new change was not a part of that. The book shone with a strobing red light. Cadence quickly approached the book and snatched it off the pedestal.

"What did that girl do," Cadence quickly flipped through the pages, she was horrified to discover the text on the pages was rapidly changing.

"No, no, no, that idiot. What was she thinking? How could she let him into the records? No this won't do, I have to fix this before she makes a bigger mess of things."

Cadence placed the book on the floor and like Selene before, she was sucked into it. Though with the current chaos in the Records where she would land was unknown even to the Record itself.

Deep in space, a large spaceship floated just beyond the reach of a star. The holographic image of a woman stood alone staring at an empty capsule. Synthia hadn't gotten the chance to say goodbye to her friend and was now left with only a corpse. She hadn't even gotten the chance to tell her about the specialties of the new body or ask what to do with the old one.

She could only sigh and hope that they would meet again. She waved her hand and the capsule holding Selene's old body retreated into a wall and then the floor. Synthia's projection disappeared from the room and the lights went out. She then reappeared in a large room filled with all kinds of computers and other instruments. She hovered over a central console that displayed a 3D star map around her. With another wave of her hand, the ship disappeared leaving the star floating alone in space.

The ship reappeared surrounded by stars in every direction and just floated. Synthia observed the new surroundings and then checked the map.

"Only a half-galaxy jump... This is fine," she waved her hand once again, and slowly the lights around the ship turned off, the engines went quiet, and the only light in the ship came from the sea of stars around.

"Let's meet again my friend."

Synthia said one final sentence before she too powered down, entering hibernation once again.

On the shorter side. But more to come soon.
