Family of the Sunflower

Ever since Alektrona watched a movie about faeries, she always believed in supernaturals. When people told her there are no such things as supernatural, she always replied, "If there are no such things as supernaturals, where did the myths and legends come from? Imagination? Hallucination? I don't know! But I would love to know and meet one," She says it with a bright smile but, once she meets their confused gaze, she looks back at them with the same confusion as them. "I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who believes in spirits and faeries... right...? " And look at them expectation in her eyes. Her answer makes others fall speechless apart from her grandmother, who loves Greek mythology. Although Alek believes in the existence of supernaturals, she's never encountered one. God knows how many books she's read about Supernaturals. Alek talked to everything she sees and asks them, "When will you guys finally show up to me and start a conversation? I wouldn't tell anybody! I just want to meet you guys so that I couldn't die happily. So I'll be here, waiting for you guys to show up and talk to me." *********** Alek sneakily entered the room and was greeted by a boy facing toward the window opposite the door that she just entered. She thought he was Kai. She prepared to scare him. But before she tried to do anything, he snapped his neck to where she was standing. She was caught off guard. But what she saw next was enough for her brain to stop functioning. "What the..." Alek could not continue. The boy looked like her dead brother, Aether. *********** "They are not friendly, especially the Shiwasu." Astraea told her niece. "If you can't prove that you are able to replace her, then we are all doomed." Everyone was listening to her with serious faces, even the youngest looked like she knew that would be the end. "I will prove it." Alek spoke with determination in her eyes. ------------------ This is the story about shape-shifters and some parts are written in Japanese in roman alphabet as this book contains a little bit of Japanese culture and tradition. Tattoo (1)

"YOU CAN'T JUST BURGE IN LIKE THAT!" Alek shouted towards her sister and wore the top forcefully.

"Not now, Alek! Explain what the heck is that tattoo." Bia crossed her arms in front of her chest and gave no way for escaping.

"It is for my protection. Now move. I want to apply oil." Her sister pushed aside her and walked to her bed, which had her bag that contained her oil and lotions.

"I want an explanation." She quickly followed her and glared at her through her light brown eyes.

"I already told you." Alek didn't look at her and continued to look for her coconut oil.

"That doesn't explain anything."

"Look, I will tell you once I figure things out. For now, could you just leave it?" Alek snapped at her sister when she continued to follow her in front of the mirror. "Please. I will tell you everything but not now. So could you please not tell anybody?"

Even though Bia was angry that Alek was hiding something from her, she knew she couldn't be in control of her. She wasn't her mother, after all. Just a sister.

"Does anybody know about this?" She then quietly asked after dropping her arms at her sides.

"Jin and Rin got one. I can't tell you but, maybe they have a different opinion, so you are free to ask them." Alek couldn't restrain her sister. She wasn't her owner and, nor did she want to take away the right of asking the twins.

"I will ask them. That didn't look like an ordinary tattoo. It looked like it involved magic." Bia examined the tattoo carefully in a short amount of time. The pink tattoo on her sister seemed to glow and, it consisted of a sign pixie: a pair of wings with pixie dust. Some girls in her class had tattoos and didn't look like that.

"Yeah, I received it from a pixie." Alek spoke after she was done applying coconut oil on her face and body. Her sister had already sensed that it was something supernatural and could see that it had symbols of pixies.

"A pixie? Pixies are here? I didn't know that." Bia was surprised.

"Yep." Alek emphasized the P and walked to her bed again with her sister following.

"How?"

"We became friends, I guess." She thought about what her relationship was with queen Tinka. "It is a sign of friendship."

"A pixie gave you a magical tattoo for a friendship sign? That's... very... unique way of showing it."

"It is. If you want to know more about it, ask the twins. I can't guarantee you if they are going to tell you." She put the oil back into her bag and brought out her phone. "I have to go talk to Alec and Mel." There were dozens of messages and missed calls from her best friends during the two weeks and, she knew she needed to call them back. "Where can I get privacy in this house?"

"Go to the second living room. They said that very few people use it and we are allowed to go there. Do you need me to show you where it is?" Bia asked her sister, who was walking out of the room. Alek wasn't very familiar with this place since she just woke up today and have not had the chance.

"I will figure it out on my own. Thanks." Alek waved her phone and walked out of the room.

"Okay."

She checked the voice messages and texts from her friends worrying about her and smiled. She was really grateful that she had such caring friends. Even though Mel was sometimes harsh and mean, he was there for her and with her all the time.

Alek replied to the messages by a simple. [Hi. I'm okay. Sorry for making you worry.] As soon as she typed in that, her friends replied immediately as if they were waiting for her to reply. She was sure that they were offline when she replied. Man, they are so ready.

[You alright, hon?]

[Where were you? Why didn't you answer us?] Alec and Mel asked at the same time and, before she could finish reading them, Alec was calling her.

"Hello?" Alek spoke when the screen allowed her to pick the call up.

"Alek?! Thank goodness you are alive!" Alec shouted through the phone and, she quickly removed the device from her ears. His voice was worse than her sister's wake up call.

"Why did you think I was dead? Didn't you guys call Bia?"

"Because you didn't reply to our messages, asshole! Do you know how worried we were about you?" Alex had tears welling up in his eyes and, his boyfriend next to him held his hands and wiped his tears before they could spill.

"We? Is Mel there?"

"Yeah..." Melvin let her know his presence by talking, which was rare for him. He didn't like not being able to talk as he became deaf at three when he had a high fever and, a nurse injected him with the wrong type of medicine and was overdosed. The nurse still visit him from time to time but she was not a pleasant guest in his household, especially to his mother.

"Let me hang up the phone for a second. I will call you guys on face time." Alek didn't think much about her surroundings and called back Alex. He picked up on the second ring and, she saw him and Mel sitting in Alex's bed.

"Where are you at?" Mel asked as soon as he saw his best friend in an odd place. Her surroundings looked very Asian with shoji and some typical widow frame pattern of Japan.

"Huh?" Alek furrowed her eyebrows and thought about what he was talking about.

Oh, snap!

She turned off the camera in a flash and began looking for the second living room of the head's house. At least there, it looked much modern compared to other parts of the house.

"What's happening, Alek? Are you okay?" Alec asked in worry.

"I'm okay. There are people passing by and, I am trying to get a room." Alek didn't lie. There were servants of Nagatsuki passing by and giving her a confused look. All she could do was smile back at them awkwardly. The corridor was wide enough and, she wasn't blocking the way and that was a good thing.

"Alek?" Alec called out again. He sounded more worried.

"Give me a second." Alek replied and began looking for living room number two. Alex interpreted what Alek said and waited patiently with his boyfriend for her.

Alek came across another servant and asked for the direction of the room. She was an old lady and gave the directions quite easily. She thanked the woman before running in the direction she was told.

She got lost.

She did the same thing she was told to do and, how could she get lost? This house looked small from the outside but really big on the inside as it was the giant maze in amusement parks. There were a lot of similar-looking corridors, which confused her.

Thank goodness a male gardener came across and told her where it was at. Apparently, she missed the corridor by two. She needed to go back and, the third room on the left was the room that she was looking for.

When she did as she was told, she found out that in the same corridor, there was her hospital room. They were only rooms away and was on the right side.

Alek entered the room and checked if she was alone. When she was sure, she took a place where it looked very modern and sat there. She put on the phone on the sofa and waved at them.

"Hi."

"Hey. You okay now?" Alex asked, using sign language. When they were three or with Mel, it was like an unspoken rule to use sign language.

"Yeah."

"Where are you at? I can see that you are not at your home."

"I am not. I am staying over at my parents' friends house. They are rich, I guess and that's why the house look like this." Alek told them. Behind her, they could see an expensive looking chair.

"Another friend? Different from the one from before?" Mel asked. He knew she was at her family friends' house on her birthday since Alex told him.

"Yep. Although I think they know each other. Anyway, sorry for not replying to any of your messages or calls. I have being crazy."

"Since when are you not crazy? Well, we are glad that you are safe. We thought you got in an accident or something." Mel made a savage remark before continuing.

"That is not entirely wrong. It was like an accident. I lost my mind and kind of went into a coma for two weeks. I woke up today."

"WHAT?! And you didn't tell us?! How could you do that to us?!" Alex looked at her with disbelief and anger.

"Babe, if she went into a coma, she couldn't have been able to tell us that she was in a coma. Your sentence doesn't make any sense." Mel patted his boyfriend's shoulder. His boyfriend can e dumb sometimes and surprise him. Alex was good in academics as well as sport. It was cute for him to make ununderstandable sentences.

"Oh yeah. You are right. But at least Bia or your mother could have told me! I would have visited you."

"Well, you don't need to worry about that. I'm coming back tomorrow, and I have something to tell you guys when we meet? When will you guys be free?" Alek remembered her decision about leaving university and going to her grandmother's or her father's.

"We are both free the day after tomorrow. Does that work?" Alex and Mel looked at each other before answering.

"Yes. Love ya."

"Love ya, hon." Alek threw a kiss for them and hang up the call. She took a deep breath before letting it go and lying on the carpet.
