That he’d said it out loud had made all the difference. He’d asked, and so I hadn’t been worried about stating my feelings. Not that I’d worried about it anyway. I would have told him what I felt for him even if he hadn’t brought it up. But it had been easier knowing he wanted this, too.

We were just starting out, but it wouldn’t be long before my feelings got deeper. Just the way he looked at me, his blue eyes soft and full of heat, made my heart melt and my body tingle. And when he cocked his head and really listened to me, I felt it in my soul. I could only hope the same happened for him.

So lost in thought about my beautiful boyfriend—I could call him that now; he’d said it first, after all—I didn’t realize where we were going until Jackson made the sharp turn into our forest. The drive up to V Wilderness Adventures was long and winding, and with the fall foliage clinging to the trees, absolutely picturesque in the setting sun.
