Chapter 19_ The longest night

Skylar was in his room. He has been busy with his phone since morning trying to reach on Keisha. He hasn't been himself since he left Keisha house the other day. He has been trying to figure out what he has done wrong that made Keisha acted in that manner toward him. He had called and sent messages via texts, we chat and every possible way he could reach on Keisha but all was to no avail. Scrolling through the net, he came across the news of Eve dead body being found. "Eve is dead?" he muttered. Suddenly, a knock came out his door.

"Who is there?"

"It's me sir, your dad is back." Sarah informed standing before the closed door.

"Okay,"

"He wants to see you sir."

"Let him know I'll be with him shortly."

"Yes sir." Sarah said and left.

Skylar dropped his phone and walk out of the room to his father who was at the living room.

"Welcome dad." He said standing before his dad.

"Thanks son. Sit down please; I have something to say to you."

I wonder what's so important that you couldn't wait to say. I sat down facing him and said, "Dad, you're just coming back from you're suppose business trip, aren't you suppose to be tired and dreaming of dozing off?"

"Being successfulness doesn't come with laziness." He said and then handed Skylar an envelope.

"What's this?" Skylar asked unfolding it. "I don't think I have time this dad, I'm busy." He said after reading it.

"What's so important that you won't honor this invite?" He asked looking at Skylar and waiting for an answer from him. He went further when he got none, "You'll have to reschedule Skylar, that on your hand will change your life for good." He said and stands up. "And make sure not to be late son." He said and left.

"I can believe he said that. Now it's a birthday party that can change my life not the business thing anymore. I just can understand this dad of mine."

We arrived safaris hotel in Mavis black sport car. Mavis came down and opens the door for me. He gave me is hand and I hold unto it as I step out of the car gorgeously. As we walks in, light of cameras keep fleshy at us as we made our way matching our steps majestically inside the ball. Inside the ball was a great congregation of greatly and wealthy dressed men and women.

"Mr. Mavis Thomas." A man called walking to us.

"Mr. Ken," Mavis called back smiling brightly. They shook hands as Mr. Kenneth came to him.

"Thou I invited you myself, I must admit I never expected your presence here today." Mr. Kenneth said.

"Why?" Mavis asked

"Of course you're one busy man."

Mavis made a slight laugh. "Yeah I know. But I still made my way here to at least honor the invitation of my very good friend birthday party."

"And I must say thanks for making your time here."

"You're welcome." Then Mavis realized I was still standing beside him. "Oh I almost forget, let me do the introduction Mr. Ken, meet Keisha baobab, my fiancé and baby," He turned to me, "Meet Mr. Kenneth Robinson the celebrate."

"It a pleasure to meet you sir." I said stretching my hand forward for a hand shake and he gladly too it.

"The pleasure is sure mine." He said and let go of my hand.

Then suddenly, my gaze move and I saw Zoe. She was standing among some other lady sexily dressed too, chatting and laughing. I wasn't surprise seeing her. I know mom most have send her after me again to keep a close eyes on me.

Please excuse me. Mr. Kenneth said and left us. We went for a drink. As we drank, I barely say anything to Mavis as I keep looking at Zoe who was actually pretending not to have seen me.

Soon, a man in his mid fifty came to Mavis

"Mr. Mavis, what a great pleasure to meet you here." The man said getting to us. He looked familiar to me but I was sure I haven't met him before.

"David de silver!" Mavis exclaimed and they shook hand. "What brought a great man out of his mansion today?" Mavis said.

"A great man needs greater men for him to remain great." He said and they laugh. "I most asked who this beautiful damsel before you is."

Mavis smiled satisfied with his statement. "Meet my beautiful fiancée, Kasha baobab." He said pointing at me and he went on turning to me with a smile, "Keisha meet David De silver."

David De silver. The name kept ringing into my head and I remember Skylar, "Does this means standing before me is actually De silver I know of." I thought and I was brought back from my thoughts by Mavis voice.

"Keisha,"

"Yeah." I murmured and look up at his face. Then I remember he was making an introduction earlier.

"It's nice meeting you sir."

"Oh, here comes my son." He said looking to a direction. We all turn to the direction he was facing and behold to my amusement, Skylar. He was well dressed in suit holding a lady with him well dress too and wearing beautiful smile. I must confess she was an angel. I felt jealous inside of me seeing Skylar with another lady.

"Mr. Mavis, meet my son, Skylar De silver and his fiancée Rebecca." Mr. David introduced.

"His fiancée!" I shouted without knowing and they all turn their gazes to me looking surprise as well.
