Even the ground is corrupted with miasma, whenever his feet touch the ground, black mud tainted with miasma tries to corrupt him.

Not only the visibility is bad due to the brownish and dark fog lingering in the air, just walking normally is quite the ordeal.

If not for the fact that Jareth's mana shield is quite strong and efficient, the miasma in the ground and in the dark fog would have already started to destroy and corrupt his mana shield.

Shin and the other grade-2 mages won't even be able to make it past this vast barren land as they will run out of mana trying to constantly repair their mana shield again and again.
