4.3 True Devil

Kali walked through the chilling hallways of the Tower of Heaven. She could feel the evil in the machines that were filled with destruction magic.

"To think someone had come up with this idea, truly foolish." she muttered.

Kali had separated from the others to search for Erza on her own. It was either she would encounter her first or the others would. Though she hoped the former would happen.

Suddenly, a terrible noise echoed throughout the hallway. Though Kali remained indifferent at the sound of someone playing the electric guitar horribly. She had heard much worse music in her life.

Kali glanced up to see a pale man covered in makeup with matching clothing to fit his theme. He was wearing clothes fitting to the theme known as rock music. But his music could make ears bleed from how terrible it is.

"Hello! I'm from the Assassin's Guild, Death Head's Caucus! Pretty name isn't it?!" he exclaimed. "I'm one of the Trinity Raven, Vidaldus Taka!"

Kali sighed, there wasn't anything special about the man in front of her. She swiped away the long hair that attacked her by covering her hand in ice.

"Mediocre magic, below average overall abilities. Are you sure you're cut off to be a villain? I think it would be best if you learned how to actually play the guitar." Kali said.

"BAHAHAHA! Mediocre magic? I'll show you my true abilities, so say your last words since you'll die today." Vidaldus exclaimed, swiping the strings on his guitar.

Different lines of purple magic emitted from him as Kali watched it attack her. She saw Vidaldus's wide grin while hers remained a blank expression. She could feel the magic trying to take over her mind.

"You want to take control over me? Then I shall let you." Kali said, a wide grin forming showing her white teeth.

Suddenly, the world had turned dark for Vivaldus. No matter how far he ran, he couldn't escape the darkness that had enveloped him.

*SPLASH*

He glanced down and realized that there was now water which could possibly mean that he was getting closer to the exit. However, Vidaldus's hopes were destroyed.

A faint red light hovered over the woman he saw earlier. Except this time, she was sitting on thousands of skeletons. Her palm rested against her cheek as her arm rested on her leg that draped over the latter.

He saw the amused smile the woman had as he walked closer. There were also two red horns on top of her head which made him question if she was the devil.

"Who are you?!" Vidaldus managed to ask, the dark atmosphere managed to make him tremble. He had never experienced such fear in his life as a member of Trinity Haven.

"I'm Karina, the owner of this realm."

The raspy domineering voice echoed through the dark realm. The woman named Karina in front of him wore an all black suit including black high heels revealing her bare feet.

"The owner of this realm?" Vidaldus questioned.

Karina jumped off the pile of skeletons and came face to face with Vidaldus who couldn't help but admire the beauty in front of him.

"Yes, the owner of this realm. And judging by the fact that you're here, it means you must've tried to take over her mind." Karina said, turning around to stare at the pile of skeletons.

"Let me out or else I'll kill you." Vidaldus threatened.

"You can't kill me and neither am I letting you out." Karina said with a light smile. "For the time being, you will become my toy."

Vidaldus sensed danger and his fingers immediately went to play his guitar. However, it was already too late as he watched his arm rip away from his body. He let out a scream as pain circulated throughout his body and was forced to drop to his knees.

He glanced up to see the woman standing in the same spot with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. She had not moved from the same spot, her red horns slightly glowing.

"YOU! WHAT DID YOU DO?!" Vidaldus yelled.

"Didn't I already tell you?" Karina asked as she walked over to the kneeling figure. "In this realm, you can't kill me. And in this realm, you are at the mercy of me."

The bottom of Karina's heel forced Vidaldus's face onto the ground. He tried lifting his head up but the strength emitted from the woman's leg was too much for him.

He had never felt such humiliation in his life.

To be stepped on helplessly.

Vidaldus suddenly had a burst of strength due to the adrenaline. He used his other arm that was there and tried to grab Karina's leg.

"Nu uh, get your filthy hand away from me."

Vidaldus stared in horror as his hand was ripped away. He couldn't do anything, his hair had also somehow been pinned down by the domineering woman.

"Are you one of Zeref's creations? One of his devils?" Vidaldus asked, he was sure the answer would be yes. Otherwise, how could someone be so strong?

"Zeref's creation? One of his devils?" Karina couldn't help but laugh with her heel still pressed against the back of Vidaldus's head. "You're wrong, I was born into this world as a true devil. A species of my own. I am no one's mere creation."

The answer left Vidaldus speechless, a true devil. A species that were said to have gone extinct.

"It's a shame really, to have encountered her. As a weakling, you should learn to pick your battles, you know?"

The statement made Vidaldus angry. He was part of the Trinity Raven known as an elite squad of highly revered assassins! Yet, he was called a weakling?!

Unforgivable!

Yet, the situation said otherwise.

He was truly weak.

Karina frowned at the sight, her new toy had already given up, and lost the will to fight any further. It was always like this.

With a sigh, she punctured a hole in the pale man's chest causing the heart to explode. She kicked the body into the pile of skeletons and left it there to rot.

Karina started walking through the endless darkness, waiting to return when a new toy was sent here.

Kali opened her eyes to see the familiar hallway in front of her. She was sitting down against the wall and was about to get up when she noticed a familiar figure staring at her.

"Eh? Erza?" Kali asked, surprised.

She heard a sigh of relief coming from Erza.

"Thank god you're okay, here I thought something had happened to you."

"It's nothing, I just got tired and decided to take a nap." Kali said, noticing the pale man was gone. "Have you seen the others yet?"

Erza shook her head, "I was walking through the hallway and noticed you."

"Erza, don't worry, this tower will be destroyed." Kali said.

Erza's eye widened before looking away.

"Whether it'll be destroyed or not, I'm still going to disappear from this world. It's my fate." Erza said with a sad smile.

"Who cares about fate and all that? I know about your past, Erza. You know I'd do anything for you, so let's go find the others, okay?"

"Alright."

The two got up and made their way through the hallways. Eventually, they ended up finding them in a dining room.

Kali had left Erza to let her explain the story of the Tower of Heaven and her dark past. She didn't have the heart to listen to it again due to how cruel it was.

She hovered her hand over her aching heart, her true innate power threatening to take over her any second.

"Not now."
