S-Class Promotion Trial

"C'mon, John!" Cana yelled and pulled John out of the ship and landed on the yellow sand of the shore of Tenrou Island.

Gildarts also came down the ship with a camera lacrima in his hand, he walked to the area Cana is with a serious face and heavy footsteps.

'It's the first time that Cana went to a beach, I must document this important moment for her.' He thought with a serious face, a proper father work he is doing right now.

Once he reached the area where Cana is, his face contorted when he saw John playing with Cana on the sand, a vein popped on his forehead while he thought.

'Get away from my little girl you creepy necromancy-like magic user ass, if it weren't for making Cana sad if I destroyed you, you would be gone from Earthland long ago!'

But, the thoughts were hard while the body is still honest, even if he didn't like John for stealing his little padded jacket, he still took pictures of both of them playing.

"Come smile for the camera!" Gildarts shouted while taking a picture of Cana and John with the large sand castle they built.

"Hmph, a bunch of kids playing in the mud." Laxus mocked as he descended the ship, which just happened to be heard by John.

"I just hope that you don't end up crying when you meet me in the trial later." John smiled while mocking him, Laxus was about to reply when he saw Gildarts looking at him with a smile.

Laxus grunted and didn't pay any attention to Cana and John lest he gets beaten up by that crazy daughter control Gildarts.

"Alright, all those who intend to participate in the S-class Promotion Trial come here." Makarov beckoned once he saw that the resting site has been cleaned up and ready to be used.

All the people that wanted to participate in the S-class promotion trial surrounded Makarov, these included Laxus, John, Mest Gryder, and a few others that are qualified to participate in this trial.

"All that participated in the S-Class promotion trials before know that the themes of the trial change every year and due to this not a lot of you are approved to be S-class mages."

"The theme of this year's trial will be a battle royal between all the participants of the trial."

"All of you will be scattered in various areas around Tenrou Island, and the last one standing amongst all of you will be the one to be upgraded to S-class."

After that Makarov explained some other rules to follow in the battle royal like no killing fellow guild mates, no crippling the other party, etc.

"Now follow these birds to your respective areas, again, no one is allowed to move until all the trialists are in their areas, doing so you will be punished."

A bird landed in front of every trialist and chirped before flying off, the trialists quickly followed the birds to get to their areas.

Before leaving the resting area, John and Laxus crossed paths as their areas are opposites of each other.

"Pray that you won't meet me in this trial or you would be in a world of pain." Laxus snorted while passing by John.

"You don't scare me, Laxus. I've dealt with opponents greater than you." John retorted with a smirk on his face.

"Don't be too scared when you wander in the dark, Laxus. Or else the darkness will swallow you whole." John reminded in a carefree manner before entering the forest.

Makarov watched all of this with a smile, then he turned to an old woman wearing a simple white dress on his side.

"I will be needing your help again, Mary."

"No problem, Makarov, it's nice to see the young fledglings of the guild grow up under our care." Mary smiled and then raised her hand which then glowed in white light.

The next moment 15 screens appeared in front of the resting place showing all the trialists on Tenrou Island.

"Go, John! I'm cheering for you!" Cana cheered while waving her hands at the floating screen.

"You do know that John can't see what you are doing right?" Gildarts asked with a difficult expression since John still hugged all of Cana's attention without even being there.

"Who do you think will be the last one to stand in this trial, Sebastian?" Cana asked Sebastian who always seems to have the perfect food and beverages for any location.

Currently, Sebastian is wearing a Hawaiian shirt and brown shorts compared to his usual butler attire. He has a huge coconut drink in his right hand and a bowl of snacks on the table to his left.

"It's gonna be John who will win this time, especially with the theme of this battle being suitable for him, it won't be long before we will need to leave this island."

"Here have some, you should enjoy your stay here." Sebastian smiled and waved his hand to summon two more beach chairs with a similar coconut drink lying on it.

"Thank you." Gildarts and Cana thanked Sebastian before taking the coconut drink and sitting on the beach chair while taking a sip of the drink while watching John.

In a matter of a few minutes, all the contestants arrived at their respective destinations, and a small speaker tied to the birds sounded Makarov's voice.

"Now that all the trialists have arrived in their areas, I will announce the S-class promotion trial has begun!"

Just after the voice dropped, the whole Tenrou Island's inner area got shrouded with darkness, a red moon replaced the sun on the sky.

"Can you do something about this, Sebastian? Everything's so dark I can't even see what's going on in the trial." Cana complained to Sebastian who simply snapped his fingers which caused everything in the resting area to be back to normal.

Then the screens glowed white and then the scene in the screen became normal, except it's like normal night time inside the screen rather than day time.

In John's screen he stood on a large rock while looking in the inner area of the Tenrou Island, more especially in Laxus' direction.

"Don't make this too boring for me, Laxus." After saying that he waved his hands and allowed the 55 ghost ripper puppets to hunt and eliminate the other trialists.

Then he equipped his mecha, since it would be bad to be sneaked attack, especially when he's weak physically, needed more so since Mest Ggryder is participating in this trial.

He needed to guard against sneak attacks from Mest Gryder's teleportation magic that can instantly arrive by his side and seriously injure himself.

Meanwhile at the resting camp, Gildarts eyes shined like stars when he saw the mecha John was wearing, he felt a strange attention when he stared at the mecha.

As John once said, 'A mecha is every boy's dream', Gildarts was feeling this exact statement, the mecha felt like a great beauty in front of him.

"I need one of those." He muttered under his breath. "I need John to immediately make me one after this trial is done."
