Chapter 12 : Gray Fullbuster

Fairy Tail only had a few hundred registered wizards, so giving each person two rings was more than manageable.

Plus, most of them were out on missions. Knight hadn't seen familiar faces like Gray, Erza, or Elfman in the past few days. That meant he had to come up with a different strategy to distribute the new batch of rings.

His target was, naturally, wizards with magic power. And where do wizards gather? Guilds.

Knight didn't care if the guilds were legal or dark.

"The guild with the most wizards in the Kingdom of Fiore should be Phantom Lord, right?" Knight thought.

He remembered a few key figures from that guild: the president, a Holy Ten wizard, with five S-Class wizards under his command, including the Four Elements and Iron Dragon Slayer, Gajeel.

"To be honest, they seem like bad news," Knight mused. "I never understood why they attacked Fairy Tail in the original plot. Who gave them the confidence? Fish Leong?"

Despite his doubts, Phantom Lord had many branches and a lot of wizards. Knight decided to make his move.

Standing up abruptly, he declared, "I just remembered—I didn't dry my laundry! See you tomorrow!"

Without waiting for a response, he dashed out, leaving Mirajane and Lucy speechless.

"Does he really not want to team up with me?" Lucy muttered, rolling her eyes in frustration. She resolved to add extra salt to his dinner later as payback.

Mirajane chuckled, trying to reassure her. "He must have had an emergency. Don't worry, Lucy. You can take your time getting used to the guild. I'll help you find the right commission."

"Thanks, Mirajane."

A loud bang interrupted their conversation. The guild door flew open as a shirtless young man burst in.

Lucy turned around, thinking Knight had returned, but it wasn't him. The boy had short black hair, tired-looking eyes, and a faint scar above his left eyebrow. The most noticeable thing about him was the guild emblem on his right chest.

"Gray, you're back!" Mirajane greeted him. "Where are your clothes?"

"Huh? When did I lose them?!" Gray panicked and rushed out to find his missing clothes.

Lucy sighed, exasperated. "What's with this guy? The guild is full of weirdos!"

...

Outside, Knight glanced down at his feet. "Whose clothes are these?"

"Hey! Those are mine!" A voice called out from behind him.

Knight turned to see Gray, half-naked and running toward him. "Gray Fullbuster?"

Gray blinked in surprise. "You know me?"

Knight smiled, picking up the clothes and handing them to him. "Nate, nice to meet you. I'm a new member of Fairy Tail. Sorry for stepping on your clothes."

"Oh… thanks." Gray took the clothes, looking bewildered. The new guy was pretty polite—definitely a step up from a certain hot-headed dragon slayer.

"And as an apology," Knight added, pulling out a ring and handing it to him, "take this magic ring."

Gray accepted the ring, still stunned. "Uh, thanks?"

"You're welcome, senior. See you around!" Knight waved, quickly disappearing into the distance.

Gray stood there, watching him leave, his mind spinning. "A newcomer, huh? Maybe I'll take him on a mission. Newcomers usually need guidance…"

He slipped his clothes back on and returned to the guild, still marveling at the quality of the guild's new recruits.

At the bar, he ordered a juice from Mirajane, unable to stop talking. "Mirajane, I just met a new guy from the guild outside—really solid guy, very polite. Way better than a certain fire-breathing idiot. He even gave me a magic ring!"

Mirajane smiled knowingly. "It must've been Knight."

Lucy groaned, chiming in, "Yup, that sounds like Knight."

Happy, nibbling on a dried fish nearby, pointed at the ring. "Gray got one of Knight's rings too? He said he was out of them, though…"

"Lord Knight, I want a ring too!" one of the members shouted from across the hall.

Gray froze, his juice halfway to his lips. "Wait… Isn't he a newcomer?"

...

After his chance meeting with Gray, Knight returned to his apartment. He pulled out a map from the drawer, spreading it across the table.

At the same time, he logged into the library on the Internet and searched for "Phantom Lord." While most people had to use points for searches, as the system's developer, Knight could access information for free. Thanks to everyone's morning effort uploading data, it was now easy to retrieve details about guilds.

Soon, he found what he was looking for—basic information on Phantom Lord, including the location of their headquarters.

"It's pretty close," he muttered, cross-referencing the map with the information. "Fiore is a small kingdom, only 17 million people. Not much bigger than a large city on Earth."

Satisfied with his findings, Knight nodded to himself. "If I leave now, I can be there by evening."

He checked his new system task:

[Task: Gain 300 Internet users.]

[Reward: Sharingan, Six Eyes, or Emperor's Eye (choose one).]

"Not too difficult," Knight thought, smiling at the interesting reward options. "But the Emperor's Eye… isn't that from a basketball anime?"

For now, he didn't bother picking a reward. His priority was distributing more rings and increasing the user base.

As he prepared to leave, something clicked in his mind. "Wait… why didn't I just scan the map? No need to carry it around."

He quickly activated the scanning function, uploading the map to the library. Ignoring the points he could've earned, Knight headed to the train station.

A few hours later, he arrived in the ancient city of Ogu.
