Chapter 1:Morning

As the dawn approached, the sun made its way above the horizon, casting the first rays of light through the window and into the room. The gentle chirping of birds outside served as the only sound, signifying that the world was slowly waking up from its slumber. The air was fresh and cool, and a light mist hung over the trees, making for a serene and picturesque morning atmosphere.

Amid this peaceful ambiance, Adrian was running down the old street, feeling the cool breeze blowing gently through the deserted roads. Despite the buildings showing signs of wear and tear, they still radiated a sense of historical beauty that he couldn't help but appreciate. As he breathed in deeply, his feet pounded the pavement, and his breaths became rhythmic. The only sounds to be heard were the soft thud of his footsteps on the ground and the rhythmic sound of his breathing.

As he ran, the sky slowly began to lighten, and the stars disappeared, giving way to the colors of the dawn sky. The horizon was filled with orange and pink hues, creating a beautiful and serene backdrop for his morning run. As he passed through the streets, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafted through the air, emanating from the cafes that were just about to open.

Although there were a few people out and about, some walking their dogs or getting their morning papers, Adrian remained focused on his run. He exchanged nods with those he passed, but he didn't stop to chat. With every step, his muscles warmed up, and his breathing became steady.

Eventually, he reached the end of the street and paused to catch his breath. As he looked out over the horizon, he marveled at the beauty of the sunrise and the peace that came with the early morning. With a smile, he turned and started back down the street, his feet pounding on the pavement once again. Checking his watch, he saw that it was seven o'clock and decided to head back home.

After an hour of running, Adrian finally arrived at his two-story penthouse located on the top of Gildart yards, feeling energized and refreshed from his morning workout.

He entered the complex's reception with a heavy breath. It was a large space that despite being relaxing and cozy, had a sense of luxury and elegance. Using the elevator he reached the top floor. coming out of the elevator he entered the hallway at the end there was a large door, and using a key he opened the door.

As one enters the large living space of the penthouse, they are immediately struck by its sheer size and grandeur. The room is expansive, with high ceilings and an open floor plan that allows for seamless flow and movement throughout the space. Large windows line the walls, providing ample natural light and breathtaking views of the surrounding cityscape.

The room is tastefully decorated with a mix of modern and traditional elements, creating an elegant and timeless ambiance. Plush sofas and armchairs are arranged around a central coffee table, inviting you to sit and relax in comfort. An intricately designed chandelier hangs from the ceiling, casting a warm and inviting glow across the room.

Adrian strode into the opulent master bedroom and retrieved his running shoes from the closet. His eyes darted around the room, taking in the ornate furniture and plush carpets. He spotted one of the many fluffy towels folded neatly on a nearby cabinet and snatched it up before making his way to the attached bathroom.

"Did you just wake up?" he asked, catching sight of Emilia lounging on the bed with her tousled hair and sleepy expression.

"Yeah," she replied, stretching languidly. "How about you? Did you already go for your run?"

Adrian turned on the tap and splashed his face with cold water, the shock of the icy liquid jolting him awake. "Not yet. I wanted to make sure I caught you before you left."

Emilia sat up and regarded him quizzically. "What's up?"

"The usual," Adrian said, his expression grim. "I'm still getting those dreams."

Emilia's eyes filled with concern. "I'm telling you, you should see a therapist."

Adrian shrugged off her suggestion, not wanting to dwell too much on his inner thoughts. "Hey, isn't Sydney's speech today?"

Emilia's face lit up with excitement. "Yes! It's at the International Civil Rights Association. I'm so glad you reminded me. Last time I missed it, I felt terrible."

Adrian nodded, grateful for the change of subject. "So, are you coming with me?"

Emilia hesitated, her brow furrowed in thought. "I don't know. I have a conference at the university today, and it's going to be a long day. But I'll try to make it if I can."

Adrian nodded, understanding the demands of her busy schedule. "I have a meeting in the Chancellor's office that's going to run long, but I'll try to finish up early so we can make it on time."

Emilia smiled, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. "Great! Let's aim to get there by 7 pm, half an hour before the event starts."

Adrian nodded, feeling a surge of determination. "I have to make it to her speech this time. I don't think she'd forgive me if but at least, I want to be there for her."

"I think she understood your absence but I appreciate that at least you are trying. Emilia added

Adrian knew he had a long day ahead of him, with important meetings and events that required him to look his best. He took his time getting dressed, meticulously selecting his attire from his collection of designer suits.

After much consideration, he settled on a sleek, black suit that hugged his frame like a second skin. The crisp white shirt beneath the suit was carefully pressed, with a perfectly knotted black tie completing the ensemble.

Adrian couldn't help but admire himself in the mirror, impressed by the image staring back at him. The suit exuded power and sophistication, just the impression he wanted to make at his upcoming meeting.

Next, he reached for his watch box and chose a classic watch, a gift from his wife. The watch held sentimental value to him, but it also completed his look, adding a touch of luxury to the outfit.

As he fastened the watch around his wrist, Adrian took a deep breath, centering himself for the long day ahead. He understood the gravity of his position as a civil servant and knew that he needed to make an impact. His attire was a reflection of that commitment.

Satisfied with his appearance, Adrian grabbed his laptop bag and headed out to his car. He knew that he had a challenging day ahead of him, but he felt confident that he could handle it. At nine o clock Adrian left the house. Locking the door he went to the garage through the elevator.

As Emilia walked towards her car, Adrian caught up with her.

"Good morning, Emilia. You look sharp today. Is that a new outfit?" Adrian complimented, admiring Emilia's formal attire.

"Thank you, Adrian. Yes, it is. I thought I'd dress up a bit today. How about you? Where are you off to?" Emilia asked, adjusting her blazer.

"I'm headed to the Chancellor's office for a meeting. It's going to be a long day," Adrian replied, taking a mental note of his busy schedule.

Emilia nodded in understanding. "I have a lot on my plate too. I'm off to the university for a meeting with the faculty and then the conference."

"Well, we'll meet again in the evening for Sydney's speech. I'm looking forward to it," Adrian said with a smile.

Emilia smiled back. "Me too. See you later, Adrian."

Adrian parted ways with Emilia and headed to his sleek black sports car parked in the garage. As he buckled his seatbelt and settled into the driver's seat, he took a moment to appreciate the car's stunning exterior before mentally preparing for the day ahead.

The car's black exterior was sleek and sporty, perfectly embodying Adrian's sharp and confident demeanor. He deftly maneuvered through traffic, his mind focused on the tasks at hand. The car's engine purred smoothly, adding to the atmosphere of calm as Adrian prepared himself mentally for the day ahead.

As he navigated through the busy city streets, Adrian mentally ran through his schedule, checking off each item on his to-do list. His sharp mind effortlessly multitasked, glancing at the road while processing important details about his upcoming meeting in the Chancellor's office. He knew that his time management skills would be put to the test, but the confidence and luxury of his car bolstered his spirits.

As he approached the Chancellor's office, Adrian's car slowed to a stop. He took a deep breath and gathered his thoughts, knowing that the day ahead would be full of challenges. But he also knew that with his sharp mind and the luxury of his sports car, he was more than capable of overcoming them.
