Chapter 26: Ripping Off the Bandaid
A thick envelope landed on Leena’s desk with a sharp smack. She looked over her shoulder at Ethan Greene, the CEO of her company, Greene Consulting Group. He wasn’t a terrible boss, but he did tend to be… bossy, especially after taking over the business after his father retired.
“I need these back by the end of the day, Morris,” he said flatly. “And please respond to your emails in a timely manner while you are here. I know you get the privilege of dropping the business from your mind as soon as you walk away from the office, but while you’re here I need you to be present.”
“Yes, sir,” Leena said with her office lady smile. She was usually on top of her work no matter what, but her mind had been wandering to thoughts about Ransom, which led to concerns about Brian, which led to panicked musings about ending their relationship.
