"This is going to be the umpteenth time that I am going to tell you this…" Eve said as Max examined the veins in her arm. "The poison is not strong enough to harm me."

"This body is weak…" Max said.

"Pardon?" Eve immediately frowned. What does he mean by that? Does he know something about Evelynn Rosetta?

"I said you had a weak body because your stepmother never took care of you." He lifted his gaze and stared at her face. Then he smirked. "Am I wrong?"

"Why are you smiling like that?" she immediately pulled her arm away, but he was not showing plans of letting it go. Instead, he lowered his head and slowly trailed some kisses from her pulse to her palm.

"What are you doing?" she hissed. Was this some sort of way to determine if someone was poisoned?

"Nothing…" he said before letting her hand go. She immediately glared at him while holding her hand. "I should know if I was poisoned or not. After all, it is my body."
