Eternal Quest: The Rebirth of a Coward

Um, hi. I’m Leo, and this is my story. I guess. I used to be a gamer, playing a VR game called Eternal Quest. It was a fantasy world full of dungeons, monsters, magic, and quests. I liked it, but I was never good at it. Then, something crazy happened. The game merged with reality, creating a new world called Elysia. Everything in the game became real, and so did the classes. Everyone got to awaken a class from the game and use their skills and abilities in the new world. Sounds awesome, right? Well, not for me. Because I got the worst class possible: Coward. Yes, you heard me right. Coward. A class that has no skills (good skills), no magic, no weapons, no perks. A class that only has one thing: Fear. Fear of everything, especially monsters and enemies. Fear that makes me run away from danger automatically, without any control or choice. I was doomed. I was despised. I was ridiculed. But I didn’t give up. Well, not completely. I became the Ultimate Coward, the final form of the Coward class. That could rival any other classes. Be it the Eternal Knight, Emperor of Death, Speah of Heaven, Dragonborn... Even though, I had to fight in the end... But, this time I'm gonna make a different choice. Or else this world and I will be doomed for eternity. I won't be a coward this time. I will be the one everyone fears this time. I will be the lord of fear! "ROAAAAAR!" (A monster roars near him) "Guess The Merge has already started." (Trembling with fear) "Guess, I'm gonna stick to the old me for a while...." "Run!!!" **** *** ** * This is Eternal Quest: The Rebirth of a Coward [LitRPG]. Do you want to join me on this epic journey? If you do, then let’s go! If you don’t, then that’s okay too. (I don't want it either...) _____ __ _ 100 Power Stones -> 2 Bonus chapters. This work is participating in WPC -> LitRPG. I hope you guys will support the story! Like, vote, comment, and review. I appreciate them all.

Cunning Exterminator

Hah, I can't believe I'm doing this. My heart is beating so fast, I'm afraid it will tear through my chest.

My heart thundered in my chest as I stared at the goblins on the platform. I could feel sweat prickling at the back of my neck. What have I gotten myself into? I quickly composed myself and summoned my courage.

I cupped my hands around my mouth and shouted, "Heeey! You dumb, stupid, scary, disgusting Gooobliiiiiins!"

All of the goblins on the platform, in the waiting area, looked in my direction. Their expression was so scary it creeped me out.

"Cooome! You idiots!" I screamed again.

[Ding!]

[You have learned a new skill: "Cheap Taunt Lv1."]

[You have gained one skill point]

[Description: A skill that allows the user to insult and provoke the enemies, causing them to lose their focus and attack the user.]

Huh, I got a skill too? No, let's not get distracted.

"Yeah! You coooome!"

The goblins immediately run toward me. Sh*t, there are too many!

I ran back into the underfloor and entered the hall. I looked back waiting for them to come. As soon as I saw one of them, I immediately run toward the fifth room with all I have got.

I hope the plan works...

______ ___ _

The underground floor of the train station.

Goblins swarmed into the hall, searching for the human they just saw.

They looked at the empty hall cautiously. Then they noticed two of their kind lying dead on the floor. The Hallway was filled with the blood of their brethren.

"Kek!"

"Hah!"

The goblins communicated as they were angry about this.

"EEK!"

Suddenly the room at the end of the hall opened, attracting them.

A goblin came out of the room and collapsed right at the door's threshold. The goblins ran forward toward it. They arrived beside their brethren. They checked its bodies -> There were many signs of biting left and it was holding a dead rat on its hands.

The goblin's expression turned unsightly as killing intent oozed out of them.

"KEEKE!" (Revenge!)

"Ke!" (Kill!)

"Ke!" (Kill!)

They spoke to each other and entered through the door. Two goblins stayed behind for guarding. Nearly twenty goblins entered the room and they were met with a group of rats of different sizes.

"Squeak!"

"Ke!"

Goblins immediately attacked the rats as they believed they must be the ones who killed their kind. Then they started to fight against each other. As the fight progressed it was clear that the goblins had the upper hand. It was because of their strength, size, and teamwork.

But it soon changed...

A bigger and scarier rat came from behind the rats. All the other rats immediately retreated and stood beside the large rat. It was the Rat King.

Standing on its hind legs, the Rat King towers over other rats, measuring almost 5 feet tall. Its fur is patchy and ragged, covered in filth, yet its lean muscles ripple under the mats and clumps. The Rat King's face is gaunt, with pale lifeless eyes, a grimy snout, and jagged yellow teeth jutting from its mouth. Atop its head sits a tarnished metal crown adorned with small bones and rat skulls. The crown slips down over the Rat King's eyes at times, but it doesn't seem to impede its sight.

"Grrr... Roarrrr!" As it roared furiously mana wave swept over the room, and the goblins felt fear as their bodies trembled. While the rats became scarier and stronger. The Rat King used its unique skill called - Rat King's Aura.

The goblins' instinct kicked in as they tried to flee for their life. Unexpectedly for them, there was no way for them to run away.

Because, at the door, a person was standing while the two dead goblins lying beside him. It was that human who called the goblins here. The human grinned as he looked at them.

All the monsters suddenly felt a bad premonition as they saw his smile.

"Hehe, now you guys fear me." The human spoke amused.

The Rat King sensed something was wrong and dashed toward the human.

"Heh, it is too late now, you damn monster." The human spoke as he lifted his hand and directed it toward them.

"Now, begone!" As the human muttered, a ball of fire came out of his hands and shot toward the floor.

In an instant, the entire room was engulfed in fire from all directions.

The human closed the metal door, while still smiling.

"BOOOM!"

______ ____ _

I heard a loud voice explosion inside the basement.

Oh, that's good!

Well, it was bound to succeed since the plan was perfect.

First I returned to the second room where I saw a fuel tank and gasoline. I got the gasoline and entered the basement. Of course, as a safety measure, I upgraded my Stealth to Lv3. I wouldn't have to worry about being found out.

I spilled it over the room. Then I used goblins that I killed as a trap to lure the goblins here.

After I lured them into the hall. I entered the basement again while using the third dead goblin's body as a puppet. I used one of the rats to leave biting marks on it just in case.

Then I hid behind the door. Well, the rest was the 'war' between the rats and goblins. I used the chance the guard goblins distracted and finished them off.

Well, I liked the part where all of the monsters looked at me in fear. I am not saying I enjoyed it, it is just I got to know that I can be fearful of monsters too, and not always fear myself.

While I was busy in my thoughts, I received another notification.

[Ding!]

[You have earned a title: Cunning Exterminator]

Cunning Exterminator, huh? Well, it suited to what I did just now.
