Chapter 22 Enjoy the Process

"It's only been two weeks of pregnancy and I'm already having mood swings." Alayna let out a sigh. "I feel a little confused by this feeling. It's so weird."

"Be patient. Just enjoy the process. You are lucky to be able to experience pregnancy. Many women want to have children. But they can't."

Alayna thought deeply about Dafa's words. Indeed, there were many women out there who had been married for years expecting the arrival of their baby. But the fate did not answer their hopes. Although various methods that they had been used. For those who had funds, they could do IVF or surrogacy programs. But it was not cheap either, for those who could not afford it, they could only accept childless life.

After all, these were the real consequences she had to accept. There was no guarantee that a marriage based on a contract would run smoothly without problems. She had to accept the risk of her decision.

Alayna nodded slowly, her eyes focused on the distant horizon. "You're right, Dafa. I know I should be grateful for this pregnancy, despite all the mood swings I'm experiencing." She tried to control her turbulent feelings.

Dafa smiled gently and commented, "Every woman experiences this differently. It's part of the journey of becoming a mother. I'm sure you will be an extraordinary mother, Alayna."

"You seem to understand this very well. Do you have a girlfriend who has ever been pregnant or something?"

As far as Alayna knew, Dafa was still single. But she didn't know much about Dafa's personal life.

They were close as friends at work. Just as professionalism of course. Dafa often helped Alayna when she was in trouble even without she asked. Just like the current situation, he always be there for her.

Dafa laughed and shook his head. "No. My mother told stories and shared experiences. About how she was pregnant and raised her child."

"Oh, it's about your mother again. She must be a great woman."

Dafa sighed. "My mother... She endured too much suffering in her life."

"Why?" Alayna asked spontaneously. "Oh, sorry, I just asked a personal question."

"Well, maybe I'll tell you everything later." Dafa stood up from where he was sitting. "It's already afternoon, I'll take you home. And you should get some of the rest."

Alayna knew that the story about Dafa's mother was a very personal matter, and she respected her friend's privacy. Despite her curiosity, she decided not to push any further.

She stood up and stretched her stiff muscles. Today was another heavy day. She not only experienced mood swings but also pain in her neck and throbbing in her head.

Dafa looked at Alayna with worry. "Alayna, from your face, you look very frustrated. Are you feeling okay? I'm worried about your health."

Alayna tried to smile, even though she felt very uncomfortable. "I'm fine, Dafa. Just a little stressed and maybe this is what made my neck pain appear again. I just need to rest well later."

Dafa nodded in understanding. "Then make sure you take care of yourself. Your health is very important, especially during this period of pregnancy."

If she could be honest, Alayna felt touched by Dafa's attention. There was even an implied question, why was he such a good person? Was he a descendant of angels and was he merciful to everyone?

But that was a silly question. Of course, he was so nice because he had high empathy for other humans. At least that's what Alayna thought.

The two of them got back into the car, and Dafa immediately started the engine. The atmosphere in the car became calm, with Alayna tried to relax.

Dafa continued the journey to Alayna's home in the hope that she would soon feel better after having a good rest at home.

A few minutes later, Dafa's car entered the courtyard of a house worth a hundred million dollars. With soaring architecture, this house was the manifestation of modern luxury.

Inside it, there were spacious rooms with high ceilings that offered luxury, furnished with materials such as mahogany and marble. Amenities include a luxurious private cinema, tennis courts, and an inviting swimming pool.

Dafa rolled down the car window and looked out the window. "Is your husband home?"

"I don't think so," Alayna shook her head, "The car isn't parked in the lot. Usually, he went home late. I mean, I don't even know where he is."

Still feeling worried, Dafa nodded. "Okay. Then, I'll go home now, okay?"

Alayna smiled gently. "Thank you, Dafa."

"No problem."

Alayna carefully got out of the car, her eyes still looking towards her house with anticipation, then sifted back to Dafa's car.

Dafa gave an encouraging smile before closing the car door and continuing the journey home.

Alayna stepped towards the big building in front of her. Just approaching the gate, she already felt luxury like a work of art.

Strangely, such a big house didn't have permanent servants living there.

Cleaning service workers would come three times a week. And even then, they were not many and they never wanted to talk to Alayna. She didn't know if it was because Lev forbade it or they were all introverts.

Alayna felt like there was a lot of strangeness happening lately, but she chose to ignore it. This was not only because she didn't care, but also because one of the points in her contract was very strict: she was not allowed to interfere in her contract husband's personal affairs.

Alayna shook her head to get rid of thoughts about Lev and her curiosity.

"Why would I even care about him?"

Alayna spoke to herself, trying to convince herself that this was the right attitude. Despite the confusion, she knew that to maintain her safety and well-being, she had to stay away from Lev's business according to the existing contract regulations.

Alayna, who had glanced upstairs, specifically towards Lev's room, immediately diverted her attention and walked steadily toward her room.
