Chapter 22: Hunt continues

Even though Allen was slightly disappointed hearing its decrease in functionality in the night, he immediately came back to his senses.

What in the world was he disappointed about? 30 times is already plenty. The radar in his updated watch will dry the battery from his watch after a single scan.

One can only realize the value after comparing it.

With this gadget, as long as he isn't too high profile with his actions and maintained sufficient caution, he should be able to make a killing in the outer fringes of the wilderness.

After Allen familiarized himself with the working of the spiritual radar, he started to look for monsters in the outer fringes of the wilderness but this time with the help of the radar.

After around 10 minutes of searching, Allen... didn't find anything. This represents his lack of understanding regarding the natural habitat of the monsters.

He is also lacking in the means of tracking the monsters based on their smell, fur, claw marks, footprints and various other methods like the senior hunters.

After another 10 minutes, Allen once again used the spiritual radar in a different location. Unlike the other times, this time Allen was terrified to notice the densely packed red dots of various sizes in his surroundings.

There are nearly 15 red dots in his surrounding 50 meters.

To his terror, there is also a red dot behind him. He quickly rolled to the side awkwardly and turned around to take a look.

But, there was nothing behind him. Looking at his surroundings, there was nothing except trees ang grass in the places representing the rod dots.

"System! Is there any problem with the radar?" asked Allen in a puzzled voice.

"Host, Your stupidity knows no bound. I am really wondering if your IQ will be below that of a monster's. The spiritual radar doesn't just scan above the ground like the conventional radar. As a level 1 spiritual weapon that cost nearly 1000 EP, you should expect much more than that."

"The spiritual radar will spread the scanning waves across its surroundings in a uniform manner and even penetrates the ground. The technology involved is not something a low level civilization can grasp. It will have 20% efficiency even while scanning underground. So, currently the spiritual radar can scan a depth of 20 meters. You can get those details if you increase the resolution of the radar." system explained in a disdainful tone.

After hearing the explanation from the system, Allen blushed a little and wanted to find some excuse for himself. In the end, he just sighed and obediently started focusing on the radar again.

He increased the resolution and slowly the terrain started clearing up. In the end, he couldn't completely get a clear picture before his head started hurting again.

But, he could vaguely see that there is an underground tunnel below him and there are lizard like monsters resting in there. He was a little surprised as he never heard of such tunnels in the wilderness which could be attributed to his lack of experience.

Allen decided that after he went this time, he would collect some relevant documents and go through them so that he would not be a headless fly next time he came to wilderness.

As he currently had no experience fighting underground, Allen just noted the location on his updated watch and hurriedly left the position.

A minute after Allen left the area, suddenly, a slithering tongue came out of a nearby bushes and detected the nearby scents.

After 10 seconds, it went back into the bushes slowly and the place became silent again.

After leaving the area, Allen once again went in search for monsters. While searching for monsters, Allen also started collecting tree branches and shaped them like sticks and spears with sharp ends.

To get the job done well, he also bought a sharp knife from the system for 2 energy points. though it is not a spirit weapon, it can be considered the best among ordinary weapons with its uncommon sharpness.

He used the knife to sharpen the ends of the sticks to turn them into short javelins.

He realized this after seeing how difficult it was for him to break the defense of the boar with his bare hands.

In addition to those short javelins, Allen also collected a strong vine form the nearby tree that can work as ropes and can be used to form traps.

After collecting around 4 sticks and a single Vine into the inventory, Allen felt a faint headache and understood that he slightly over drafted his mental strength and stopped his collection.

He only kept the Knife on his body and started his search again. He carefully avoided the monsters in groups.

10 minutes after leaving the area with underground monsters, Allen suddenly heard a slight noise of hooves hitting the ground. Allen hurriedly hid on a tree and climbed high and looked into the direction of the sound.

Allen was surprised to find a long tusked boar coming in his direction.

After a slight thought, he understood that this should be one of the boars that went after his team members.

After confirming with the help of the spiritual radar that there are no other monsters nearby, Allen decided to hunt this boar.

After all, this boar should have the same power level as the one he had previously hunted down and he should be able to deal with it.

Allen quietly got down the tree and hid behind a tree which is in the way of the boar. At the same time, he held the small wooden javelin in his right hand and waited quietly.

Just as the boar passed by the tree, he threw the wooden javelin from his hand. As he didn't know anything about the art of throwing, he just threw the javelin in the direction of the boar with all the force his arm can muster.

Luckily for him, the boar is a very big target and the javelin pierced the above its hind legs.

Though it didn't do much damage and only pierced through its muscle layer and didn't damage its internal organs, Allen was happy with that much.

In a fight between rivals with roughly equal strength, any advantage can become a leverage for victory.

The boar was startled by the sudden injury but it was not slow to react.

It ignored the pain and used all four of its hooves like brakes and did a drift like a speeding car and came to stop while facing towards Allen.

By the time it stopped, Allen already started running and came within a 5m range of the boar which is too near for the boar to start a charge.

It could only release a loud grunt and threw itself at Allen wielding it's huge tusks.

Just when the boar felt that it's attack would hit him, Allen avoided it's attack by dodging to the side by half spinning his body using his right leg as a pivot.

The momentum carried the boar forward which allowed Allen to reach its rear part where the wooden stich was stabbed.

Allen pressed all his body weight onto the stick using both his hands and pierced the stick deeper into the boar.

The sharp pain made the boar go berserk and it immediately started rolling on the ground.

Allen could only hurriedly release hands from the stick and leapt back while the stick was broken from the weight of the rolling boar.

But, the damage was already done. There was a part of the stick that was left in the body of boar.

The boar could no longer settle its rear hoof on the ground. Whenever it tried to rest it's left hoof on the ground, it could feel it's bones and tendons grinding against the part of the stick that was left in its body.

The rest of the fight went as expected.

Taking advantage of its crippled leg and the sharp knife in his hand, Allen constantly harrassed it and step by step slowly increase the amount of injuries on its body.

Finally, when the boar was filled with injuries, Allen suddenly mounted the boar from the rear and pierced the sharp knife deep into the eyes of the boar and into the brain and finally ended its life.

Allen heaved a sigh of relief looking at the dead boar and after making sure that there was no one in the surroundings using the spiritual radar, he took into the system inventory and started the energy conversion formation.

"Ding! A corpse of Long tusked boar is disintegrated and received an energy of 6.9 EP."

"Total energy points : 13.23 EP."

After he was done disintegrating the monster, Allen climbed the tree and took rest.

This time, thanks to the early injury on the boar, he didn't have many injuries during the fight and he was full of energy after 15 minutes.
