Chapter 19: The team fight

After entering the wilderness, every member of the team started being extra cautious and lightened their steps maintained their formation.

The more deeper they went into the wilderness, the more dark their surroundings became.

After travelling nearly a kilometer into the wilderness, Albert suddenly stopped in front of a tree. After that, he made a small hole below the tree.

Cristy then took out a small device from her bag and dropped it into the hole and buried it.

She then explained to Allen, "This is just a tracking device that can be bought from the hunter's association. Many times, after entering deep into the wilderness, the members of the team will be separated during combat. So, we frequently plant these trackers on the way which act like assembly points for us and we can recover them on the way back."

Allen thought for a moment and then asked back, "Can't other hunters use them to find out our position and target us?"

"No, as soon we purchased the trackers, they are linked to our hunter's team and only people in our team can access their location." This time it was Vice captain Albert who replied to Allen.

Saying so, he handed a chip to Allen and said," Take this chip. This is a temporary chip linking you to our team. use this and you can also find the location of these trackers."

Allen nodded and replace his original chip with this temporary one. Inwardly, he decided to upgrade his watch so that he can carry multiple chips at the same time.

The team then continued their journey while occasionally placing a tracker every now and then.

After entering the wilderness for nearly 5 kilometers, Albert suddenly signaled for the team to stop.

"There are a group of Long tusked boars 200 meters in front of us. Be careful. Their numbers are in dozens." He reminded.

After that, all the member of the team looked towards Bennett who nodded his head and said, "Alright. Let's do it the usual way. We will lure a small group of them first and solve them."

He then moved eyes onto Allen and said, " Allen, this is your first time hunting in the wilderness. You should just stay on the tree and observe the process for a few times."

Hearing that, except Albert, the rest of the team went into hiding above the trees and Albert rushed towards the proximity of the Long tusked boars.

Allen also went up the tree and squatted down on a branch observing the situation.

Both Ariel and Cristy occupied positions which are about 30 meters away from the team while moving somewhat near to the group of boars so that they can provide long ranged support to Albert at any time.

After 5 minutes, Albert could be seen running back while being chased by 3 long tusked boars.

The boars are about 1.5m tall and 2m long. They have two pairs of long tusks which are curved and have a sharp and pointed end. They have thick and rough hair and are like moving trucks with a long line of dust following behind them.

When the boars are about 50-60m away from the team, there was a swooshing sound and in the next second, there was an arrow inserted into the left eye of a boar.

At the same time, a silent bullet pierced through the eye of another boar.

The boars felt the pain of a bursting eyeball made the boars lose their footing and they lost their balance and started rolling. Now, only the leading boar is still chasing after Albert.

Taking this opportunity, Ariel and Cristy tried to shoot at the leading boar once again, but this the painful grunts from its companions made the boar alert and it no longer kept its head steady.

The bullets and arrows missed their mark and only hit its thick fur and only pierced halfway into the muscles.

This is just a minor injury for the big boar and the only thing it did is to make it more angry.

This time, it perceived where the arrows came from and started galloping towards the tree on which Ariel was hiding and rammed straight into it.

The force made the tree shake vigorously and toppled down Ariel who was still on the tree taking an aim with the bow.

The remaining 2 members of the team also jumped down from their hiding places and started moving towards the tree.

By this time, the 2 injured boars also recovered from their fall and both of them began to move towards Ariel while ignoring Alfred.

Alfred turned around immediately and followed behind the two boars. He suddenly increased his speed and slashed his sword across the hind legs of the boar right on the joint severing its tendons. This made it stumble and fall down on its face.

Before it completely stopped, there was flash across its neck followed by a stab in its other eye. The boar started madly struggling but Alfred just increased his force and soon, the sword passed through its brain and soon it died.

The other injured boar was stopped by Malcolm who directly stopped its charge with his shield and stunned it and a second bullet entered it's eye as soon as it stopped.

This made the boar completely blind and soon it was played around by Malcolm and Cristy and it didn't take long for it to die when a second bullet entered its empty eye socket and entered its brain.

As for the final boar, before Allen could even observe properly, it was directly shot to death by a single punch from captain Bennett and there was not even a drop of blood on him.

Even after the fight ended, Allen still didn't come down but went to the other side of the tree so that he could escape his team members eye sight and hurriedly opened the system inventory.

After a second, the Monsterverse appeared in his hand. Allen injected his spiritual energy on it by focusing his mind on it and soon the weird runic patterns on the book started shining.

Allen felt as if the book became a deep whirlpool and there was once again the feeling of his consciousness being sucked and he hurriedly moved his eyes away from the book.

After 2 seconds, The book stopped shining and the suction force disappeared. Allen didn't feel anything and wasn't sure whether the book absorbed the souls of boars or not.

Seeing that the other team members are calling for him, Allen hurriedly sent the book back to the inventory and came down the tree.

Looking at how relaxed and easily the team took down the boars, Allen was a little surprised and was impressed with their team work.

He fought with these boars in the virtual simulation and knew how troublesome they were.

The worst thing about them is their thick defense. Every time his fist landed on them, he felt as if he was beating a piece of leather.

Coupled with their fierce chare and sharp tusks, it took quite some time for him to take down a boar

He could only kill them by repeatedly punching them again and again on the same spot.

"Alright everyone! clean up the are fast after collecting the loot and get ready for the next round." Bennett said while clapping his hands.

Malcolm and Alfred started the clean up process while the other three stood on the trees as look out to avoid any sudden ambushes. Allen also went to help them.

Using various sharp knifes and tools, they separated the tusks and hooves from the boar. After that they carefully tore open the skin and stored it aside.

After removing the meat and other useful parts, they dug a pit and discarded the useless parts into it.

As it will be used later when there is more prey, they just closed the pit by covering it with leaves and spraying some chemical to make the smell disappear.

As for the Packaged loot, they separated it into three different portions.

The first portion mainly consisted of the hooves, tusks of the boars which Malcolm carried in his backpack.

The second portion mainly consisted of the skin and bones of the boars and the third portion is mainly its meat and other miscellaneous parts.

For this, they searched for a thick tree with a hollow trunk and placed it in there temporarily and inserted a tracker into it. After that, they used a spray that basically smelled like a monster's piss and sprayed around the area.

Allen was a bit baffled by how they dealt with the loot.

But, after thinking about it, what else can they do in the wild.

May be larger richer teams will have better tricks and equipment to solve the problem of loot but the smaller teams will have no other way.

They could only carry the most valuable ones and could only hide the less valuable loot somewhere so that they can come back and pick it up sometime in the future.

This also made him feel happy about his system inventory.
