Chapter 3

"Why were you snickering a while ago?" Lin Miao asked Ye Bai while walking. They are going back to the dormitory, but Lin Miaomiao wants to eat and try the food in the cafeteria so that he knows what to order for tomorrow's lunch. 

"Nothing!" Ye Bai smiled.

A while ago.

"Wang Shengnan Buddy, see you later," Lin Miaomiao said while holding Wang Shengnan's hands. They were separated by the school gate. 

"Lin Miaomiao Buddy, from now on to the college entrance exam. Today is August 31, 2014; from now on to the 2017 college entrance exam, there are 1010 days left."

Lin Miaomiao's face started to look ugly. "You are so mean. There are 1000 days left, and you've already started counting the days." 

Lin Dawei hears the mother and daughter talk; he doesn't want to join their conversation.

Wang Shengnan: "At the moment we were talking a while ago, 5 minutes have passed. Tomorrow morning, you're close to the college entrance examination for a day." 

Ye Bai giggled while listening. Lin Miaomiao looks at Ye Bai with displeasure and at Lin Dawei's 'Look at your wife' look. 

Before Wang Shengnan starts to nag again, Lin Miaomiao gets Lin Dawei's hands with both hands. 

"Lin Buddy," she smirks. "when I'm not around, please take care. (You're the one she will nag daily.) I'm leaving, hehe." But before she let go, Lin Dawei held her hand firmly.

"Not yet. Listen to your teachers, get along with your friends, and always be careful." The smirk of Lin Miaomiao is gone. She feels the sincerity of Lin Dawei's words.

"Yes!" Lin Miaomiao smiles. 

Wang Shengnan holds her hand again. "You need to be proactive, self-conscious, and spontaneous. Whether adults are present or not, you should be fine." 

Lin Miaomiao nods like a chicken. "You need to call me to report every day, 12 pm or 9 pm. I'm waiting for you; don't sleep when you don't call." Wang Shengnan kisses Lin Miaomiao's hands. 

Just like a prisoner who was granted amnesty, Lin Miaomiao gave them a happy flying kiss. "Bye-bye!" she started, trotted away to Ye Bai. 

"Slow down, don't rush," Lin Dawei reminded her. Ye Bai also waves to Wang Shengnan at Lin Dawei.

Lin Miaomiao drags Ye Bai away.

"Look, a few people are eating; let's try to order." Lin Miaomiao ran to the counter and ordered a chicken drumstick, braised pork, scrambled egg with tomato, and two bowls of rice.

"Where's your lunch card? You need to treat me to this lunch." Ye Bai gave him his lunch card and paid for both of their meals. 

While eating, Lin Miaomiao started to ask questions. "Where did you move house? I feel sad when you guys move. I cannot escape from Wang Shengnans grasp." felt aggrieved Lin Miaomiao poured her annoyance into the chicken drumstick.

Ye Bai smiles at Lin Miaomiao. "My house is near here; I can just ride a bike when going to school. When my parents come back from the States, I will apply for the day students." 

When she hears what Ye Bai says, you can see the envious look in her eyes, but it changes suddenly with enthusiasm. "When you become a day student, you need to bring me breakfast. I want to taste Auntie's cooking again." 

When they were neighbors, Lin Miaomiao liked to come to their house; it was a floor below her home, and she always went when Wang Shengnan started to nag. 

She also likes to come around when Aunt Ye is cooking desserts and sometimes breakfast when she doesn't like what Wang Shengnan cooks.

"After this, let's go back to the dorm. I want to recharge. It's the first day of class tomorrow, and I think cleaning the classroom is our first task," Ye Bai suggested.

Lin Miaomiao eats faster. "Yes, I think so too."

Male Dorm 

Ye Bai was lying down on his bed, still thinking about what had happened to his life. Now that he is alone, it is time for him to try to analyze what initially happened to him. 

'System? ' like a screen popped out of his vision.

'Damn, I do have a system, but only status is showing.' Then he panickly sits up. 16/20: What is this? Am I going to die again? Ye Bai stared blankly into space, and he couldn't even hear the noise coming into the hallway of the dormitory. 

He remembers that in his first life, he was not Chinese at that time but a Filipino. He was on a world named Earth, and he was a college student at the time. 

Because of the thesis that he was doing, he left school late. His mother always told him to beware, especially when walking at night, and try to travel with someone or in places with so many people. But he doesn't listen; it's already midnight, and he just wants to get home as soon as possible. Then he met his end at the hands of the two robbers. 

They want to take his phone and laptop, but he realizes his thesis is in there; his stupidity wins, and now he is lying on the cold ground. 

After that, he wakes up in the body of a young Chinese kid on a playground. 

When he analyzes the memory of the boy, he now knows that he accidentally fell from the monkey bar. His head is still bleeding. While aimlessly walking, a kind kid helps him go home. 

This is where he met Zhao Jinmai, her childhood friend and the one who helped him go home. Because of the accident, no one questioned his sudden change of character; they thought that the accident had changed his personality, like mild amnesia.

After the accident, he likes to be alone and read Chinese history and novels because it's like a new world where he can grasp a language that he doesn't think he can understand. 

As he explores the world he lives in, he finds out that he is not on Earth anymore. This world is called Blue Star; it's a parallel world to Earth. 

At first, he thought he could have a cheat-like system like in the novel, but nothing happened. His perks can only be used in the Philippines because the songs he remembers are mostly Tagalog, and they can't be used here in China. Now that he doesn't have a Goldfinger, he just does what he wants to do, not like in his past life, where his goal was to have a simple job, earn money, and make his mother happy.

His deep thoughts were broken by a tap on his shoulder.
