Chapter 23

The jaguarman? ran away soon after as they continued onwards to Ur. Enkidu entered the town only to realise something amiss immediately due to Sherlock and it seems Merlin did too. Kiyohime was just clinging to his arms while Jeanne was just looking at everything with disgust.

"We don't need saving as Ur is very peaceful." Enkidu narrowed his eyes as Sherlock was stating his thesis. Merlin seemed to agree as well as they both looked at each other and nodded. Merlin smiled a bit as he found someone who was alike.

Sherlock continued examining the place as all the clues led to one conclusion. Merlin walked up to Fujimaru "Gather everyone in Ur tomorrow." Enkidu was boiling in rage, however he kept it contained as it might not be true.

They stood in front of a building as everyone in Ur was gathered there. Merlin nodded as they explained the situation.

"I see. So how many sacrifices?"

Sherlock intervened "I approximated one person per day from the general population." Mash and Fujimaru started looking around while Mash's eyes were distraught. Despair filled both of their eyes as they couldn't believe it. Human's sacrificing their own kind just to survive rather than ask for a rescue team simply because it was easier.

Enkidu became cold as the cup filled a bit more, his rage was directed at the people and the goddess who imposed it. He had experienced a situation similar to this as he remembered Yu Mei, he shook his head as his eyes were devoid of emotion. Kiyohime stopped clinging to his arm as she noticed the change in Enkidu's eyes.

Sherlock and Jeanne seemed to notice as well as Jeanne was surprised at this new side of her master while Sherlock was grim. Any little bit that nudges Enkidu will be ripped to shreds.

That was his analysis.

The people still denied it while more water dropped into the cup. His eyes were vacant as he was prepared to shut off all emotions and return to the weapon he was. Kiyohime tried calming him down while Sherlock tried to use logic. Merlin was thinking "Yeah, try to use logic against chains that restrain gods. That'll work." Sarcasm laid thickly in his head.

"Sacrifices are needed to survive in Ur."

"Yeah everyone agreed to it!"

Jeanne gritted her teeth as well remembering her end. Bad memories surfaced as she held gripped her flag pole tightly.

"All we have to do is offer one sacrifice to Eridu a day."

One more drop filled the cup.

"That's all it takes to satisfy that devil."

And another drop as the water filled perfectly to the brim.

"You haven't seen how scary that goddess is!"

The water reached surface tension as it threatened to spill over.

Lightning crackled as Kiyohime watched her love's eyes glow menacingly green from hearing the fear of the people. He was having multitude of thoughts in his mind. "This goddess decided to impose rules and demand sacrifices? This is a kingdom that Gil ruled and governed and yet the goddess decided to interfere?"

Lightning crackled as a voice and roar was heard. The people looked up in fear and screamed while running away. It was the very same cat that Enkidu had caught previously. I forced them to work as slave labourers.

Enkidu's thoughts ran wild as his eyes shut all emotion out and he became a weapon once again. "These are the people that Gil made happy. These are the people, the citizens of the kingdom of Uruk."

The cup shattered as water spilled. Everyone around Enkidu stepped away as chains appeared and shot towards the goddess who dodged them. His servants Jeanne Alter, Kiyohime and Sherlock all saw the eyes of a weapon devoid of all emotion.

Weapons popped out from the ground as they prepared to be used at any time. The goddess found a few chains chasing her only to have a weapon graze her. The cat simply said "What I'm trying to say is come with a gift at least!" A voice came from behind her as she said that "You want a gift? How about your funeral?" A green streak caught her eye as she spun around to block Enkidu's fist with her staff.

Everyone watched as Enkidu was starting to show some of his real abilities. The cat lunged forward as Enkidu crouched down before twisting his torso and launching his foot up into the cat's jaw. He landed back on the ground as he slowly walked towards her.

The cat (Jaguar-man) lunged forward at a speed which their eyes could not follow. Enkidu watched as she jumped around while his precognition activated. She lunged at him as he tapped the ground with his foot. They watched as the cat was bashed into a building from the ground slamming a chunk into her.

He looked at the others who were attacked by the cat. He had the abilities to destroy that cat but his mission and logic stated that he should take care of them first. Merlin had a spell ready as he retreated with Ana. He gave the cat one last glare before his eyes slowly calmed down.

Enkidu gazed at the sky while Gil came and sat next to him. "It's beautiful isn't it?" Enkidu nodded as his hand glowed while a flower slowly grew. He looked at Gil, "You want it?"

Gil took it as he looked at it before ripping it apart. Enkidu looked at him annoyed "You took it so why rip it?" Gil grinned "Payback." Enkidu growled "For what?" Gil pulled out a specific red gem.

"For this."

Enkidu and Gil both fell as they laughed and remembered the good all times.

But nothing lasts forever...
