Chapter 10

Allen dreamed about his parents, since he didn't know how they looked like, in his dreams, they were exactly like his parents from his previous life, he couldn't remember the dream, or what it was about, only that it was a pleasant dream.

He woke up, a bit of sadness permeated him, he missed his parents, his siblings, his pets, even if they were a lot to take care of, he let a small sniff leave his nose, and jumped straight out of bed.

"Nothing good will come from mourning something that happened already" He thought to himself "The only thing left is to look forward the future" He pointed towards the ceiling with his index finger, only to be welcomed by the sound of the other kids running outside of his room, probably getting ready for breakfast.

Decided to do the same, he did his usual routine and ran to the dinning room with the other kids after locking his door from afar, using his powers.

After breakfast he went for the same two buckets from yesterday, while he was eating another idea occurred to him regarding the use of his pyrokinesis.

He looked around, left and right, in case John or someone else saw him, in all honesty, he wasn't doing anything bad, but he didn't want people to know what he was doing in the first place.

He took the buckets from the same place and ran as fast as he could towards the dinning room, closing the supply closet behind him from afar, just like how he closed his own bedroom door in the morning.

Even after getting a bit of mastery over the control of fire, he still didn't want to risk something burning, or a fire starting because he didn't completely extinguished it, playing with fire was dangerous, and he didn't really feel like taking any chances, even if he can control it.

He saw the same corner of the garden empty and decided to use it today as well. After sitting down on the ground, he proceeded to do the same thing as yesterday, he scooped balls of dirt making a big enough hole on the ground.

He picked up some leaves using his telekinesis, making sure the other kids couldn't see what he was doing, and he only gathered dry leaves that were on the ground close to him. When the objects were as light as a leave, he could control multiple at the same time, it depends on the amount of weight an object has, whether he can lift multiple or just one. Just like as if he used his arms.

Yesterday he managed to burn the leaves, shooting the red light out of his palms, which ignited the fire, but while this was something a pyromancer could do, it wasn't all.

He nodded to himself, satisfied with that train of thought "The next thing would be… to control the fire on top of my hands!" He exclaimed to himself, extending his hands towards the sky.

To do that, first he wanted to keep a small flame floating on top of his index finger, he kept the bucket with water close to him, ready to plunge his whole arm in case something happened.

He wasn't about to risk burning himself just to create a glorified lighter.

Allen closed his eyes, getting in the right mindset and feelings, his powers activated after a moment, it became easier each time with practice, and whenever he did something he already practiced, using his feelings and willpower wasn't necessary, though he still did it when practicing something new, it made it easier, since this was the source of his powers after all.

He opened his eyes, ready to start, he lifted up his left hand at the same height of his face, with just his index finger raised. His willpower ran around his body, until it reached his hand and finally, his finger, a small red light shoot out of the tip of it and stayed there, floating, then a spark, happened and the fire appeared. A small flame, lingering on top of his finger.

Not wanting to tempt fate, Allen celebrated inwards, making a fist pump with his right hand.

A thin thread was connecting the flame to his finger, so small he could barely see it, but it was there. When he tried to cut the connection, the flame dissipated.

"So the flames I create need my power to survive if they don't have a source" He pondered, after dipping his arm in the water bucket, he didn't get burnt, but still felt the heat around his finger.

"I also need to create some kind of protection around my hand so I don't get burned"

After thinking about it for a while, he tried it again, this time, he created something akin to a glove around his hand, almost transparent white light, meant only to shield him from the heat of the fire and nothing more. He had to use his other hand to do it since it was a bit difficult to do both things with only hand.

Of course, his powers weren't related to his hands, but they helped him with the visualization of doing what he wanted, therefore, he could do it without any hands or anything, but it would take him more time and concentration.

Then, with the protection done, it was time to try his hand at pyrokinesis one more time.

He let his feelings float and his willpower to create that same flame again, then the same phenomenon happened, a red light shoot from his finger, which promptly burnt, creating a small flame once again on top his finger.

This time he couldn't feel any heat, almost as if the flame didn't exist and it was only an optical illusion, but he knew it was real, after all, the protection was only around his hand and not the rest of his body, if he brought the fire closer to him, he could feel the heat emanating from the flame.

Allen wanted to control the flame in a different way, now that the heat problem was out of the way, and the first thing that came to mind was to move the fire along his arm, as if it were a mouse moving around someone's hand.

But before he could do any of that, he wanted to see if what he thought before could work, small light particles were floating towards the flame from his hand, the thin thread connecting them changed to these particles.

"If my power is akin to oxygen, then it can be in any form, can't it?" A smirk appeared on his face, glad that his theory was correct. Now with that out of the way, he moved the fire with his psychokinesis from his finger, to his now extended hand, then he made the fire move all around his hand, as if it were alive.

Returning the fire to the top of his palm, the next thing he did was to give it more of his powers, and as he thought that, more red light particles were ascending from his palm, making the flame bigger, until it reached the size of a fist, then it stopped.

It was getting harder and harder for him to control it, and the same body ache from before resurfaced, it was gradually getting stronger as he put more strain on his body.

Thinking that it was enough, the extinguished the flame, cutting the 'oxygen' from it.

He flopped down on the ground with all of his limbs extended, the smell of smoke and dew permeated his nose, looking at the bright blue sky, he chuckled, making sure the other kids around him couldn't hear. He put his hands on top of his chest and closed his eyes. He enjoyed this feeling of being able to do whatever he put his mind to it.

After resting for a while, he sit up straight on the ground, a new idea occurred to him while he was resting.

"It's one thing to control the fire, but what if I shoot it?" A mischievous laugh left his mouth, he really wasn't gonna use it on anyone, but still wanted to try it.

He proceeded with the same method as before, getting the flame on top of his finger with the protection around his hand, but this time he covered the flame with the red light and cut the connection, the flame will continue to burn using the light as its oxygen.

Getting his hand with the flame close to the bucket, he changed positions, from a raised finger showing off the flame, to a handgun position, pointing with the fire.

Invoking the celeste light from the first time his powers manifested, he placed it between his finger and the flame, the only thing left was to shoot it, while he was about to snap his fingers as a way to trigger shooting, something happened, the celeste and red light fused, but the colors didn't change, they were just combined.

Excited about the situation, he snapped his fingers and the small flame shoot out of his finger towards the bucket full of water, the moment it touched the water the flame extinguished, leaving only smoke behind.

"YES!" A shout reverberated all over the garden, the kids stopped playing to look towards the shout. All eyes were on Allen, he got to excited after he managed to do it that he couldn't keep his emotions in check.

Allen looked back, and saw that everyone was looking at him, ashamed by the situation he tried to speak his way out if it.

"A- Ahem! Sorry, I just got too excited about something, c- continue with what you were doing" His face turned red as a tomato and his eyes darted to the ground, trying to evade the judging eyes of everyone else.

After seeing that Allen wasn't gonna say anything else, the kids continued playing, ignoring what just happened, and he sat down on the ground, covering his face with his palms.

"Uuurghhh, next time… don't shout" Shame filled him as he dropped to the ground, knees close to his chest.

Trying to ignore what just happened, he stood up and determined to continue practicing, he went a little further away from the bucket full of water, he wanted to see how long he could shoot before the flame fell down.

He created the small flame on top of his finger again, and shoot it snapping his thumb and middle finger. Every time he did it, the celeste and red light would fuse, without mixing the colors.

Every time he went a bit further back, making sure the other kids couldn't see him shooting fire from his hands. If they didn't talk to him before, after the incident with Jimmy even less, but if you added shooting fire from his hands, the kids would fear him to no end.

That's definitely something he didn't want.

Practice ran long and it was getting close to dinner, Allen could see the sunset, that was his cue to stop the training, especially since he was using fire, other kids would notice immediately with the light source.

When he was about to water the plants with the rest of the water, another idea crossed his mind "What if I make a ball of water using my telekinesis and sprinkle it like rain?"

Determined to try it, he put his hand inside the water and summoned his powers, he could feel a ball the size of a fist forming on top of his palm, encasing the water, after taking his hand out, he looked at the ball of water, impressed with himself that he managed to do it.

He spent a few minutes looking at the ball, poking it with his other hand, it could enter the ball but it couldn't damage the light around it, proof of that was that the ball maintained its form, while his finger was also wet.

Satisfied with the result he poked a few holes on top of the light that was covering the water and pointed his hand at the bushes, using it as a watering can.

When he ran out of water he dissipated the ball of light and this time he tried to pick up the water without touching it with his hand, he could only pick a bit of it, but continued to do water the rest of the plants around the garden until only droplets were left.

Gathering all the droplets in the bucket he created a small ball of water. After thinking what do with it, a mischievous smile appeared once again on his face, Allen moved the ball towards the top of his index finger, he wanted to see if he could shoot it as well.

He pointed straight at the ground, making sure no one was looking, the sun was almost setting. A nice cold breeze passed through him, he closed his eyes, mostly because in the past when a breeze happened, even if he wore his glasses, dirt would find its way through them and enter his eyes.

Shaking his head from those thoughts, he opened his eyes, the water ball still on top of his finger, and snapped his fingers, shooting it towards the ground. The ball shoot faster than the fire, and even left a big gap on the ground, of almost seven centimeters before it got absorbed to the ground.

"Oh… wow, that was dangerous" Impressed by the amount of power the water bullet had, he decided to not do it again with such a carefree attitude, otherwise he could hurt himself. He gulped thinking of the consequences of such force hitting him.

He went back inside to return the buckets and eat dinner, trying to not think too much about it.

After dinner, in his bed, he thought about everything that happened today and yesterday, while his parents are no longer here, it's not as bad, since he doesn't remember them.

He was starting to enjoy life a bit more with his powers now, he still didn't know what to do with them, other than train.

"I'm not sure if I could become a hero or something… sounds scary, and besides, my powers aren't that strong" He convinced himself, nodding his head up and down.

"Maybe if I train more I'd be able to lift something more heavy than a bookcase"

Ever since he started training more and more his body stopped hurting as much, but it didn't mean that it doesn't happen if he's not used to a training, like what happened today with the fire.

"The theory about an invisible muscle is probably right…" As he was thinking about that theory he remembered, a random thought crossed his mind after connecting the dots from today's training, if he can create fire and manipulate water with his psychokinesis, what is stopping him from creating water?

These thoughts ran in his mind as his eyes felt heavier and heavier, until he drifted away in a sea of dreams.
