CHAPTER 13 (Founding Parade Part 2)

~~ October 14, 1896 (Wednesday) ~~

~~~ Imperial Crown Prince Siagu's POV ~~~
Victory Square, is the oldest square in the entire Empire. This square used to be the centre of trade in ancient times but for some circumstances, the area was neglected and was converted into a square. It was then at that time that the Rajahnate warriors will use this square as their location to parade to the masses every successful battle they faced. Because of that event, it was then made into a tradition to parade all warriors of the Rajahnate on the square every successful battle, which is where the square got its name and the rest is history after that.
No wonder the square is very important despite its distance from the city centre of the capital. Shaped in an almost rectangular shape, the Victory Square had a total width of 65 metres and a length of 272 metres from end to end before connecting to the main road. It runs along near the walls of the Imperial Complex, bordering the complex on its northeastern walls. Making it ideal to be the location of today's celebration.
I am currently sitting on an elevated viewing box along with my relatives, Imperial ministers, high-ranking military officers, and personal guests, waiting for the event to start. Almost all men in our box are wearing the imperial military uniform to match today's event, while others are wearing a normal black and white tuxedo. Women on the other hand and the guests who are with us are wearing their customize and modernised versions of the sonmin.
Left-side of our viewing box is the viewing boxes of foreign diplomats and delegates. On the right side are the viewing boxes of our empire's nobles and politicians, who are wearing their own Imperial Military Uniforms or a black and white tuxedo.
A total of 2 long boxes on each side are decorated with flowers, fabrics that are made to look like ribbons, and our Nation's flag to match today's occasion. Waiting patiently before the start of the event.
While on the opposing front is a towering 50-metre-high stone pillar with a statue of a female golden angel, also known as the 'Angel of Victory'. The statue has a soft-loving expression while extending her arms as if she is inviting for a hug, this posture of the statue symbolizes comfort and celebration for after a battle, a person needs a hug. Beside the towering statue are the citizens of the empire, waiting patiently for the parade to start. While behind them are memorial buildings, a war museum, and just behind the statue is the tomb of Rajah Siagu II.
The Founding Anniversary Parade is a grand spectacle that celebrates the founding anniversary of our nation. Held annually at Victory Square, the parade is meticulously planned and executed to inspire awe and instil a sense of patriotism and respect among its spectators.
Overnight, the once Victory Square used for the daily walk of the people living in the Imperial City was transformed into a scene of magnificence, adorned with banners, flags, and ornate decorations following the Empire's and our family's colours, since on normal days any vehicles aren't allowed to pass the Victory square. Spectators gather in anticipation, marvelling at the sheer scale of the event, while military bands are positioned strategically around the parade ground which fills the air with thunderous and triumphant melodies.
As the parade begins, a wave of anticipation sweeps through the entire venue. The commanding officer of the Imperial forces, dressed in an immaculate uniform adorned with prestigious medals and decorations, takes centre stage, exuding authority and confidence. He stands atop a grand reviewing stand, overlooking the vast parade ground. He then turns to look towards our location and saluted which was answered by Dad with a salute.
The parade kicks off with a display of military bands marching in unison, their instruments played with precision, producing a symphony of sound that reverberates across the parade ground. The rhythmic beat of drums, the blaring of trumpets, and the soul-stirring melodies of the brass and woodwind instruments create an atmosphere charged with anticipation.
A resounding cheer of the large crowd echoes throughout the entirety of Victory Square as the 5 colour-bearers soldiers enter the square from the south end of the square while being escorted by 2 soldiers carrying a musket gun. Forming a straight line while carrying 5 eye-catching flags, on the centre is the Empire's National flag, on its left side are the Imperial Household Guards flag and the Imperial Navy, on its right side are the Imperial Army's flag and the Imperial Coast Guard, and on its both sides ends are the two-escorting soldier.
