My pace was slow as I walked back home, still trying to take in the information that Aella and Ashley had just told me about. I was told to meet her on Saturday so we could go to Dawn together. But how was I supposed to explain this to my parents? Even to me, this sounded ridiculous. All traces were logic were thrown out of the window, and the similarities with all those fantasy novels I have read ever since I was young were making my head spin with confusion.
Knock.
I looked up and found myself standing in front of my home, my hand already having knocked automatically. As soon as I walked into the house, I was greeted with buzzing excitement from my mother.
Shoot.
It turned out that she had planned a trip to Japan on the weekend as a surprise for my birthday. I guiltily looked away as I thanked her - She had seemed so eager about going on that trip, and I didn't want to ruin everything for her, but how am I supposed to tell her about... Dawn?
After dinner, I quickly excused myself and ran up to my room. I instantly called Aella, but the calls quickly went to voicemail. Eventually, I just gave up and went to bed early. Maybe when I woke up I would have a solution?
Tap.
Mmmfph. Huh?
Tap tap.
I sat up on my bed, rubbing my eyes groggily as I looked around my room, trying to figure out what the noise was coming from. Suddenly, a flashlight shone through the panes of the window.
Aella?!
I quickly opened my windows and let her in.
"What the HELL are you doing here?!"
"Wait, don't close your window yet," Aella said as several other figures climbed in after her, "I ha-"
"And who are these people?! And Ashley too?!" I whispered furiously, scared that my parents would burst into my room anytime soon.
"Oh, remember about the other elementals that I told you about?" Aella said, never one to be nervous. She then pointed to the other girls "This is Willow, Elena, and Valerie. They're all elementals - Ashley too."
It was easy to tell what element they belonged to; they all wore their element's color.
"Uh, hi, I'm Oceania, not sure if Aella told you. I'm a water ele-"
"I told them already, how could I forget your existence? I thought we were best friends," Aella pouted. We all started to giggle. "Well yeah, of course. We were best of friends ever since we were kids. No one could replace you," I began replying to her as soon as I calmed down, giving her a wide grin.
