Chapter 27: Whispers

Ethan woke up to the sight of Arthur staring passionately at him, "What's going on", Ethan said, while holding his head due to the headache he had, "You're finally awake", Arthur yelled, right after he said this Gavin and Marcus rushed into the tent, "Kid, you're awake, I was starting to think you weren't going to wake up", Marcus joked, "What happened, why I'm here", Ethan said, "What do you remember last", Marcus replied, "I remember the spell killing the alpha wolf, but everything after that is a blur in my mind",

"Well, you've being unconscious for five days, after you killed the alpha wolf, you passed out due to mana exhaustion", Gavin replied, "If you knew that was going to happen, then why didn't you tell me and why did you insist I use to spell", Ethan said with a hint of anger in his voice, "Oh, you expected me to be lecturing you in the middle of a fight, and it's either this or we would have be those wolves dinner, and I'm sure you know which is better, don't you", Gavin replied with obvious frustration to the naive behavior of Ethan, "I guess you're right", Ethan said, "Anyways, eat something and rest, we're continuing tomorrow", Gavin said, and right after he and Marcus walked out of the tent.

For the next few days they continued the journey until they reached a pivotal moment—a clearing where the two proposed paths converged. Gavin and Marcus, stood at the crossroad, their expressions serious.

"We have reached the turning point of our journey," Gavin spoke, his voice filled with gravity. "This path ahead of us splits into the two routes, which shall be the final stretch of our journey".

"We shall set up camp here tonight and continue through the proposed path", Marcus added.

After setting up camp in a nearby clearing, everyone went into their tents to retire for the day, but as Ethan was asleep, he heard it, a haunting whisper, it beckoned him, an enigmatic call that stirred his curiosity. While his companions slept soundly, he couldn't resist the lure of the whispers.

With silent steps, Ethan ventured into the forest path, following the ethereal whispers that seemed to guide him deeper into the heart of the woods. The shadows embraced him, concealing his departure from the slumbering camp.
