Cute little thing

Just as they were about to speak more sweet nothings, the emergency light on the wall, which they had forgotten even existed, suddenly flickered on. Both Ethan and Scarlett immediately frowned.

"Did you turn it off yesterday?" he asked.

"You didn't?" She questioned with a frown.

Ethan felt something was wrong. His luminous blue eyes moved to the light.

Scarlett gently moved away from the top of his chest. Her face was still flushed, and honestly, she still felt a sour taste in her mouth.

Ethan frowned slightly. He was extremely happy now, ecstatic to be true to himself, and didn't want to just put their frolicking on hold. But he sighed and pulled his trousers back up before he moved towards the emergency light.

Scarlett scrambled behind him, wearing a t-shirt to hide her milky white chest on the way. With calmness, Ethan first scanned the emergency light with his Dimensional Senses, and his foot paused. He looked at Scarlett and held her hand.

"Something interesting," he said.

She understood he was holding her hand to teleport just in case of danger, so she tightened the hold and corked her eyebrows. "What is it?"

Ethan walked closer to the light and, with effort, took it out of the wall. Both Scarlett and Ethan looked at the thing stuck on the back of the light with wonder. No wonder the light was now so heavy. No wonder!

They looked at each other, their eyes shining in mischief and curiosity.

"Are you seeing what I am seeing?" Ethan asked, his voice barely a whisper.

"I should be," she replied.

Tucked behind the emergency light, a tiny white-haired girl slept soundly. She was no bigger than two fingers put together, and her cuteness was undeniable. She nestled in a small nook behind the light, and when he shifted the light, she remained attached to it.

She was dressed in garments that seemed woven from verdant leaves, and her skin was a pale, fair white that seemed to faintly glowing. Even as she slept snugly behind the nook of the light, her little dainty legs wriggled about, accidentally flicking the light's on and off switch with her movements. Atop her silken white hair rested a coronet of woven leaves, stirring ever so slightly with her tranquil breaths.

"A fairy!" Scarlett mumbled, her excitement barely hidden, her trembling hand ready to snatch the light from him.

"An actual fairy!" Even Ethan was mystified.

The small emergency light almost weighed as much as Scarlett herself, so maybe this little thing also had as much strength as a normal human from Earth. She was exactly the size of a little insect no matter how beautiful she looked after all—humans here only had that much strength, too.

Suddenly, the girl stirred, and Ethan saw her eyes opening slowly. She blinked slightly. At first, she glanced at him lethargically and muttered, "…a human?" Then went back to sleep with a snore. Then, her eyes snapped open, meeting Ethan's gaze with a suddenly dumbfounded expression.

She froze as if Medusa of the legends had looked at her dead in the eyes. Her emerald green eyes were full of fear, and she became a small statue. Ethan just watched, along with Scarlett, who was looking at the girl with a face full of awe.

The girl looked at them for a second and then fell back on the snug corner of the emergency light, but this time, her small tongue lolled out as if she had died. She also became motionless. The crown upon her head ceased its dance, now still as death itself.

Ethan and Scarlett looked at each other. Filled with mirth.

Not feeling any change after a while, the girl opened one of her eyes to a slit and immediately closed it when she noticed their gaze.

This continued for a while until she opened her eyes with a huff. "Greetings, friends," she said in a musical voice. "I did not mean to trespass in your dwelling. If you'll allow me a moment to collect myself, I'll be on my way promptly."

Carefully, Ethan set the light down so the radiant girl could step gracefully away from it. She jumped down on the ground. "Thank you for your kindness," she said sincerely. "I wish you both happiness." And with that, she zipped toward the open cave entrance, or she wished until Ethan's hand was put before her.

"You humans better leave this princess to her devices, or I'll get mad. Don't think I am scared because you are big. I am not scared!" Ethan laughed while Scarlett tilted her head in confusion. Again, that weird language that she couldn't speak. How irritating.

The little being ran to the opposite side. Scarlett looked at her with a big, bad smile. "Come here towards big sis. She'll give you a hug!"

A shiver ran down the girl's spine.

"Villains!" She screamed with all her might.
