Widowmaker (1)

'The Brothel, Mercenary Hub, Fifth street Den… which one of these places should I check first?'

Those three locations were places that the six people on Jane's list could be found. Each one had a major attraction that drew men in, and each one made an income far greater than a single man could in a day.

'If I were them where would I go first?'

Normally a person who just came from the tavern would check straight into the brothel to pleasure themselves. However, some men liked to go take on wild missions.

There's a saying that drunk men have no fears.

Which is why before any dangerous task they drink like it's their last.

'Eh, let's go to the Den.'

Bishop decided to check the den out first.

Reason being Jane closed the tavern early today so those men's pockets were still filled with coins. Instead of wasting time at a brothel during mid-day they'd much rather try to make some more.

Only place they would be able to do that was the Den.

Having his next location in mind Bishop headed out.

Fifth street Den was a twenty-minute walk from the tavern. Not really far but the traffic was intense. It was not even that there were a lot of carriages, it was people traffic.

Fifth street was one of the major streets in Roan Kingdom. It had all the high-end stores located there, not to mention an academy for future knights and mages.

The street was crowded, it was almost impossible not to get bumped into by another person.

Another reason it was called Fifth street Den was because it was home to thieves and pickpockets. The massive traffic was a gold mine to those wanting to make some extra cash. For those people stupid enough to carry around coins on their person they better be sure to hold on tight to those coins. If not before they entered a store those coins would vanish.

Back when Bishop was designing the game he thought up some ideas that other game creators would never think of. Who'd place pickpockets in a game where players wanted to rule?

Duelist wasn't an easy game and the world was harsh on the naive. That's what drew more and more players in.

While Bishop reminded about his past he had his hands in his pockets clutching the sack of coins tightly. He'd hit up the bank first, but he needed to go past fifth street to get there.

If he went around it'd take forty minutes to go to the bank, going this way was faster but a bit more dangerous.

As he walked down the street there were many females dressed in cute clothing yelling out to potential customers to come visit their store. Some men were showing off their wares while saying how cheap it was.

The buildings on this street were grand as well, much better than sixty percent of the kingdoms building.

"Ah, excuse me."

A man said as he bumped into another male who was walking in front of Bishop.

The man in front of Bishop snorted as he fixed his collar and continued to walk. As he walked away Bishop saw the man who bumped into him grin as he put his hands into his pocket.

'Yup, he got robbed.'

Bishop started to laugh on the inside.

Stopping a pickpocket was not in Bishop's job description, he'd rather they pick more pockets. All except his own of course.

He ignored the man and walked on until he made it to his destination.

It was a small alley, but if you paid attention you'd see that there was a small glow coming from it. That's where Bishop wanted to go.

Bishop entered the alley and saw a large man twice his size standing guard in black armor. The armor shined from the glow which caused Bishop to look at it closely.

From the way, it appeared this person should be level 40 or higher. Clearly not someone that Bishop should mess with.

"Member ID."

The man in black armor spoke in a cold tone. He did not seem like the friendly type. Probably due to his job.

"I need one, basic membership if you don't mind."

Bishop replied to the man. He was confident in the way he spoke as if he was a regular member.

It worked as well as the man in black armor told Bishop he knew the prices.

A basic membership cost forty silver. If it was only that then I'd be worth it, but the membership only lasted for three months! Every three months you'd have to replace your membership card. This place was robbing citizens of their head earned money.

Bishop gritted his teeth as he reached into his pocket and pulled out his sack. He counted forty silver and passed it over. The man in black armor handed Bishop a grey card.

Essential it worked the same way as a cash card, except it told others his status as a member of this place.

With card in hand Bishop walked into the building.

It was dark but loud.

"Com'on! Hit em harder!"

"Get the fuck up will ya!"

Riled up voices could easily be heard from afar.

Bishop spotted the ring in the center of the building with a crowd of people standing around it. There were mostly men around the ring but Bishop spotted a few women as well.

This was an underground fight club, where members placed bets on fighters while also watching two people beat the living shit out of each other. There were also side activities like gambling with dice or drinking from the bar.

This was the real reason why fifth street had the word Den in it. It was due to this place, where people went underground and gambled. Some hit it big while others lost everything. It was a place where riches were made.

...

Jane entered the alley and turned her head slightly. She counted three. Three people were following her.

Her body seemed to vanish. The three people following after he ran into the alley at the same time. They were confused, they saw her head in this direction so where was she?

"You, go and see if she went on ahead. You, follow me, we're going deeper into the alley." The man who was the boss of those two started giving orders. One man ran out of the alley as quickly as possible while the other two went in deeper.

Jane never left, she just erased her presence and became on with her surroundings. Seeing how three just became two made her grin.

Her hand moved to the gun at her side, she drew it and pulled the trigger.

Bang!

One man died while the other became fully alert.

Jane appeared from the shadows and rushed at the man. He tried to react but failed as Jane was already in front of him. Her gun was right under his chin, any movement and he knew he'd be dead.

"Care to tell who sent you?" Jane asked the man as she pushed the gun even closer to the man's chin.

The man started laughing. From her movements to the weapon she used, he knew exactly who she was. If he knew this beforehand, he'd never accept this job.

He was dead either way. If he told her and survived, the person that hired him would kill him. If he stayed silent she'd kill him. Taking his pick, he'd rather die by her hands than his bosses.

He spat at her.

"Fucking Wid-"

Before he could finish Jane pulled the trigger.
