Potential to Evolve (2)

Bishop entered the tavern with Jameson and he saw Jane seated at a wooden table with a drink in her hand. She grinned as she saw how Jameson struggled.

Bishop felt that Jane wanted to get her hands on Jameson but she was holding herself back.

"Let him go." Jane ordered Bishop as she sat the glass of beer down.

Bishop followed her orders and let Jameson go. The first thing he tried to do was run away.

"James!" Jane shouted out. Her voice caused a shiver to run down Bishop's spine and it made Jameson stop in his tracks.

Jameson turned his body around slowly, each of his movements was stiff. Bishop figured it was caused by the fear he felt from Jane.

"Take your hood off, you're no rouge and come sit down."

Jameson followed her orders and took off his hood revealing his facial features. Wavy blonde hair with blue eyes, he even had a beauty mark under his left eye. His skin was a bit pale almost like he was a dead corpse.

He made his way over to the table that Jane was seated at and sat on the opposite side.

"Care to tell me why old Tom had your medallion?" Jane asked him with her eyebrow raised.

Jameson sighed while he lowered his head.

"Sis, it's like this. I borrowed money from old Tom a few weeks ago, I needed it to go through the knight academy. When I graduated a few days ago old Tom ran into me and asked for the money back. He saw me in brand new clothing and a shiny medallion. I told him I wasn't rich and i'd get his money back soon. However, he couldn't wait any longer saying if he did not get the money back that same day he'd have blood on his hands. Hearing him how could I be passive? Naturally, I replied with, 'Don't you know who my sister is? If she hears about this she'd have your head on a stake'. After that, he punched me and took my medallion. Since then I couldn't request any missions from the church, basically, he took away my only way to make money. If it wasn't for this guy here accepting my request I'd still be looking for ways to get my medallion back." Jameson started to explain why old Tom had his medallion in the first place.

Jane slapped Jameson across the face leaving a bright red handprint on his cheek.

"If you needed money why didn't you ask me? You think I'm poor? Asking old Tom for money is basically saying you don't respect me."

"But sis! I did not want to bother you with such a small request, besides… you scare me."

"Blah. Stop being a little baby. You're already 15 it's about time you start acting like a man."

Jane looked towards Bishop and nodded her head slightly. Bishop was confused for a moment but figured she wanted him to give Jameson his medallion back.

Bishop handed Jameson the medallion.

He quickly snatched it from Bishop as if he was afraid Bishop would change his mind. Once he put it on he seemed to glow brighter and the color returned to his face.

"Thanks, here's your ID."

Jameson pulled out a blank white card and passed it to Bishop. The white card felt like plastic in Bishop's hand.

"Just put a drop of blood on the card and all your information will be transmitted to it. It also works as a cash card, if you go to the bank in town and deposit your money you can link your account to that card. Much easier than carrying gold around."

'Basically a credit card. This is new.'

Bishop looked the white card over for a moment and he remembered something. In the future expansion of Duelist, he wanted to introduce an item like this along with other things.

While it was a little weird he quickly got rid of that thought. He never even finished the expansion and only wrote out the storyline as well as introduced the new land.

"Nice work there. Since you've brought my little brother back in one piece I'll give you something extra." Jane said as she pulled a bronze ring out of her pocket.

Jameson's eyes seemed to go wide when he saw the ring.

"Sis!"

"Oh shut it. This isn't useful to me anymore."

Bishop grabbed the ring and looked it over.

[Ring of Experience - Rare]

Seeing the stats of the ring Bishop quickly equipped it.

"Ah, here is this as well."

Jane reached into her pocket once more and pulled out five gold coins. She handed it to Bishop.

Bishop looked at the quest log that was filled with two different quests vanish. He earned potential points, got equipment and gold. What more could he ask for?

However, Bishop still wondered about the potential points. What exactly where they and why did they replace his experience?

"Anyways, how did you convince old Tom to give you my medallion back? You must have paid off my debt huh?" Jameson looked at Bishop and asked.

"He did not." Jane replied in Bishop's stead.

"Then you did it sis?"

Jane shook her head.

"Old Tom is dead. And no, he was not the one to kill him. He was the one that found him dead. That is why I requested you to be brought back here. Old Tom told me about your little debt a week after you disappeared. He asked me if you would repay him I told him I had no clue. After he took your medallion he started bragging about it while drinking. Even showing it off to everyone in the tavern. A few days later he died. Because of his sudden death, I figured once others learned of it they'd suspect you. You owe him money, he beat you up. It's only natural you'd look for revenge if you couldn't collect the cash to pay him back." Jane explained why she asked Bishop to go get Jameson.

Jameson seemed to realize the kind of spot he put his sister in and held his head in shame.

"This is what you're going to do, stay here for a while and lay low until things die down. Once we find the real killer then you'll be cleared."

"We?" Bishop furrowed his eyebrows as he asked Jane.

Jane pointed towards Bishop and then to herself.

"Yes, we."
