Finding the Medallion (1)

Bishop was in a hurry to find old Tom, but now that he found him he was taking things a little slower. Should he enter old Tom's room to interrupt his 'happy' time or wait it out?

Bishop gazed at room 103. The wooden door held those black bold numbers. The corridor was not long, but there was enough space to fit ten rooms. Five rooms on each wall.

'First, let's see how things are going.'

Bishop leaned against the door lightly trying not to make a sound and placed his ear on the door. He was hoping to see what they were doing inside, but when a man and a woman were behind closed doors drunk. Usually meant one thing.

'Strange, no sound.'

Bishop furrowed his eyebrows as he did not hear anything sorts of moans or even talk coming from the room. His interest in what was going on skyrocketed to a whole new level.

Bishop's hands moved and grabbed the silver doorknob. Twisting it as gently as possible, he heard a small click.

The room was not even locked! His heartbeat sped up as he swallowed hard.

He opened the door, but the muscles in his arm put to much strength in the push causing the door to creak. Nearly jumping out of his skin Bishop leaped back. When he saw that no one was coming he breathes a sigh of relief.

The wooden door was open wide enough for him to stick his head in. Making sure no one was around to see what he was doing, Bishop looked both left and right. Shortly after his head full of brown hair peeked through the gap in the door.

The first thing he noticed was the body on the floor, a dagger was stuck in the bodies neck. The scene made Bishop cough a few times. This was the first time he saw a dead body. It was not virtual, it was a real dead body.

Duelist allowed the players to experience a world where anything was possible. The game was mature and even had a warning when it loaded it that the game was not meant for some people due to some disturbing acts or scenes.

Yet at the end of the day, everything the player would see or hear about happened virtually so no real harm was done. For Bishop, on the other hand, this was very real.

Before entering the room he scanned it to check for any other bodies but found none. He found it strange considering the blonde haired woman downstairs told him old Tom entered this room with a woman. Bishop did not see a woman pass by him on the way up the stairs.

As he entered the room he made sure to close the door. There was no need to worry about the knights finding his figure prints because they did not have the technology to look for fingerprints.

The room was neat, no sign of a struggle at all. The only thing that was slightly messed up was the bed that had its sheets tossed around.

[Old Tom - Deceased.]

Bishop saw the notification ring up as he glared at the body. It was old Tom the person he was looking for.

[Quest Info Updated.]

[Now that you've found old Tom retrieve the medallion and return it to xxxx and you'll be greatly rewarded.]

[Tavern killer.]

[Old Tom was found dead in his room search for clues to find the murderer. There are no signs that show the murderer has left the inn through normal means, find where they went.]

[Tavern killer v2.]

[Old Tom was found dead in his room, let Jane the tavern keeper know.]

Seeing the three quest logs appear Bishop was a little excited. It was a bit weird he was already 28 years old but excited over a little advancement in the quest. It couldn't be helped considering the last time he's played a game was 13 years ago.

The first side quest he accepted got updated now that he found old Tom. As long as he retrieved the medallion and returned it to that hooded figure this quest was going to end soon.

As for the other two quests that appeared, he had two different options for it. One he could take matters into his own hands and find the killer since he was putting in his own time the reward would be exceptional. As for the last option, he could just tell the tavern keeper and she'd investigate.

Out of the two Bishop chose the second. There was no way he'd have time to investigate a whole murder. God knows Duelist was designed so that when a player came across a murder case it would either be easy or extremely hard.

The case with old Tom was one of the extremely hard cases. The reason it was rated as so was due to the lack of evidence, and how the player would come across the body. The time of death would overlap with the player finding the body causing others to think the player was the murderer. If the player did not play their cards correctly they'd find themselves wanted for murder with a bounty over their heads.

Although Bishop was the creator of the game he did not remember any of the side quest missions. His main focus was on the main storyline, all the other side quest was left up to his staff.

'Fuck me.'

Bishop looked down at the dead body and shook his head. If this was not a game his fingerprints would easily be found and he'd be labeled the murderer.

Reaching down he patted down old Tom's body. There was not much to pat down considering he only had on a brown vest. His lower half was bare showing his genitals and hairy legs.

Bishop did not find the medallion on his person but found fifteen silver pieces. He happily pocketed those pieces of silver as his own. Dead men did not need money, what were they going to use it for?

Quickly Bishop searched the room for old Toms pants. Strangely it was tossed under the bed causing Bishop to lean down and retrieve it. As he did so he heard a creak on the floor.

'Hmm? What's this?'

Bishop continued to press down on that same spot and the creaking continued. He placed his fingers in the cracks on the wooden floor and pulled up.

The wooden floor came up as Bishop saw a hidden compartment. Inside was a bag full of silver, a tattered book and a medallion.
