What!

Author POV

She kept running like she was on a marathon race, glancing back almost every seconds, to see the cops, not ready to turn back. She just couldn't afford going to jail, the thought of her mom and siblings flashed through her mind, as a drop of tears, slid down her cheeks, she couldn't imagine herself, spending the rest of her life in jail, the thought of being tagged a thief, keep tearing her heart into pieces, and she regret doing it in the first place.

Not conscious of where she was going, she barged in on the roadway, but stopped abruptly, as the sound of a car brake, sounded through her ears, joltting her back to reality, and snapping her head to check where the sound was coming from, her eyes almost popped out of their sockets, as she was welcomed with a black sport car, driving towards her, and she found herself froze on the spot, anticipating death.

The car didn't stop the loud sound, and just when it was about hitting her, it finally stopped abruptly.

Meanwhile, she stood rooted to the ground, with her eyes closed, heart, beating heavily against her chest, too many things running through her mind, as painful tears came streaming down her cheeks. Her mind darted to her family, the pains they would go through, after her death, she is the only one, who her mom have fate in, she has always promised to get a better job, and sponsor her siblings to school, she couldn't help thinking about the fate that awaits her family, if she end up losing her life like this, but then, there isn't anything she could do about it.

After what seemed like forever, slowly, she opened her eyes, as she was welcomed with a yong handsome angel, staring blankly at her, and she just couldn't help concluding that she died and must've gone to heaven, but then, she couldn't help doubting it, because she believe that angels are supposed to be wearing white garments, right?

"What the heck do you think you're doing, huh?" The angry voice of the man, standing before her, jolted her out of her trance, and snapping back to reality, she forced her gaze around, and that was when she realized that she is still alive, and she just couldn't help being happy.

"I believe I'm not talking to a statue!" The young man snapped again, looking more angry, and she just couldn't resist the urge to flinch, as she turned her gaze to look at him, still dazed.

Snapping out of her trance, she pursed her lips, and sighed in relief, as she closed her eyes briefly, trying to recover from the shock. After what seemed like forever, she finally spoke up.

"Sorry Mr." She said simply, before turning around to leave, but felt a hand on her arm, bringing her to an abrupt halt, and she just couldn't help sighing. If only the man knows the death she just escaped, then bothering her, would've been the last thing on his mind. She just couldn't wait to get home, and have a rest, she just couldn't wait to cool off her head, and think properly.

"I just said sorry, can you let me go already!" She snapped angrily, as she yanked his hand away, and with that, she started walking away, while dragging her tired and heavy feet, forcing them to carry her forcefully.

He stared at her unbelievably, as he just couldn't help the scoff that escaped his lips, he just couldn't imagine the drama that just happened, and the thought of the girl, being like that, even after making him almost kill her, amuses him alot...

Lilly POV

I kept walking absentmindedly on the road, drowning in my own thoughts. The incident from earlier keep replaying in my head, and I couldn't help getting scared all over again, so many things running through my mind, what if I had died? What if that was the end of me?

After walking for what seemed like forever, I finally got to the front of the dorm, and without wasting time, I climbed the stairs, and in the next seconds, I was already standing in front of the entrance door, after which I pushed it opened, and walked inside.

Heading straight to our room, I walked in, and met Nina, pacing restlessly, looking all worried. She stopped and came to hug me, as soon as I walked in, as she burst into tears.

"I'm so sorry Lilly...it was all my fault." She cried, as she hugged me tightly.

As much as I want to blame her for everything, I know it wasn't entirely her fault, it was mine too, and blaming her alone, would be so unfair to her.

"Hey it's not your fault." I chuckled dryly, as I pulled away from her, and wiped off the tears from my eyes.

Walking over to my bed, I let my weight down it, and sighed deeply, before laying on my back, while staring up at the ceiling. My mind drifted to the man from minutes ago, though I didn't get to take in what he looked like, but I can bet that he's one hell of a handsome man. Anyways, I wish to see him again, and apologize to him for acting rudely to him, it wasn't entirely my fault, and you can't possibly blame me for it, right? I waa just too shocked that I wasn't so conscious of what I was doing. What do you expect from someone that just escaped death?

The sound of my ringing phone jolted me back to reality, and letting out a sigh, I sat up and brought it out of my pocket, before sliding the answer button, not after checking the caller ID. I wonder who the heck is calling me.

"I'm at the restaurant downtown, bring my phone for me, now!" Came the masculine voice, which sounded very familiar, but I failed recalling it, and the call disconnected immediately. What the heck! What's that person talking about?

"What the..." My mouth dropped opened, as I brought the phone down from my ear, staring down at it, and that was when I realized that the phone isn't mine. What! The restaurant? Hell no!...
