Is that what you think when I'm with Koa or Aneth, not you?” Nye locks eyes with me. “Dragons have a hierarchy. The leader of the males is the one with whom the female spends the most time. Koa and Aneth know this.” I cross my arms, “That makes no sense. I want to get to know all of you.” “Too bad,” Nye says, his eyes are unwavering. “If they can’t beat me in a fight, you won’t.” I chuckle, unbelieving the nature of these creatures. “So if you were to be “dethroned” by Aneth or Koa. I'd be spending more time with them?” “It's our nature. To be a leader you must be powerful, if not you don't deserve to be there. Someone else will take it.” Nye says this as if it's a binding oath. Well, that's great. It will take me forever to get to know Koa and Aneth more than on a surface level. “You irk me.” I cross my arms over my chest. Nye did get under my skin, but I liked it. Am I sick in the head? Maybe. “Darling, you take me for someone who needs your approval for what I do. You should know by now that I do not.” Nye smirks at me. I roll my eyes. “Then buckle up 'cause you're going to have a butt load of shit to deal with on this ride, honey.” I walk past him, purposefully exaggerating the sway of my hips. Bite it, big guy.

Chapter 82

~Kamari~

"So, what do you think?" I found Nye after he had come back from his flight. The sky is a black canvas with a splatter of stars. Calea witnessed Aneth and Koa fighting to move up in rank; she seemed anxious watching them, but I couldn't blame her; when they fight, it's bloody, and they show no mercy. Of course, they are not out to kill each other either. Ryuu fought his father, but it always reminded me of their playful fights, Koa testing his strength. I wanted Calea to see all of it. The way I lived with them when I couldn't go home. I wanted her to see where Ryuu was raised and to understand his natural state better.

But right now, I wanted Nye's input on alliances with other supernatural creatures. His legs and arms were crossed, sitting against a large tree, and I sat cross-legged beside him. After what Koa had told me about Nye using him as an outlet, I could see the subtle hints in Nye's demeanor.

"It's not wise. You'd be acknowledging we exist." His head flops to the side, and he doesn't look unamused, "And I like living in solitude." He is quick to look away from me. I see his jaw clenching and his hands gripping his arms too tight. "I think it's the best chance we have, Nye. We made a barrier, so we have time to consider it." I look to the ground, picking blades of grass." A heavy silence hangs over us, one I wanted to pop like a bubble. "Nye," I sigh and scoot closer to him; his body is burning hot. "I'm not denying you just to do it." I fidget with my fingers and let him in on my thoughts, "They grow so fast and leave so quickly, starting their own lives. And it makes me wonder," I look up at Nye, feeling vulnerable, "After one of my whelps takes the throne, they won't need me. I'm afraid I'll be in the background of their lives. What happens after all of that?"

Nye gazes down at me, searching my eyes, my chest tightens, Nye lays head forehead against, "You are never alone Kamari. Your whelps are meant to leave, to live. Is that not what a mother does? They will never leave you, not completely." He cups my face between his hands, "And nor shall we. You are bound to us, to me. And they would have to bury me beneath Veldon's dead body to try to stop me from being by your side, and even then," he pauses, "I'd find a way back to your darling. Always."

I feel my breath slowing. Nye always had a way of making me settle down and remove my worries. I notice he's burning up. I pull back from him. "Can Dragons run a fever?"

"No."

"Then why are you so hot?"

He smirks, "Genetics?"

I playfully shove him, "Smart ass. Seriously, Nye, what's wrong?"

Nye runs his finger through his hair with a frustrated sigh. I chuckled and couldn't help but voice what I knew: " Is it because you don't have Koa to smack around?" Nye looks both shocked and angry. "Remind me to snap that serpent's neck."

I didn't think Nye would be so aggressive—wait, scratch that, I didn't know he'd try to hide it. I boop his nose, and he catches my hand, his eyes piercing into me, making me a sucker for his whims. "Stop acting cute." The demand is funny, almost contradicting how he was looking at me. He turns his head away from me, "Kamari," he says, his voice tense, "Can we not talk about the alliance with supernature creatures later? My restrain wears thin." When he looks at me again, his eyes rake over my body, and he swallows hard.

"Can't you focus on it a little?" I ask, pinching my fingers together.

Nye's gaze pierces me. "Woman, you are about one second away from me, ripping the poor excuse for clothes you're wearing off and doing with you what I please." His voice is gruff; like a light switch, my blood rushes with heat. My desires haven't gone away either, but it was easier for me to suppress them. But good goddess, he looked so good by firelight. Now, I wasn't trying at all. "You are right," I start leaning into him, "Maybe we should put our energy into more," I pause, making it evident that I'm gazing at his lips, "much more pleasurable things."

"You think so?" Nye asks, trying to gauge if I'm fucking with him or not.

"Oh, I do," I say, my voice low and sultry. "I can feel how much you want me, how much you ache to dig your nails into my hips. I know how hard it is for you to keep your hands off me right now…"

Nye's eyes darken, and he lets out a low growl; I notice his body practically trembling with the effort it's taking not to pounce on me. I start to crawl towards him, my movements slow and seductive. "You are doing this on purpose," he accused, his voice rough and strained, "You're taunting me, teasing me; know damn well how much I want you Kamari."

The way this man held on to his restraint was unbelievably hot. Was he waiting for me to tell him Yes? If so, I might have a little fun. "Maybe I love seeing you so worked up, so desperate for me," Nye growls again, grabs my arm, and pulls me against him, making me gasp, the heat of his words a pleasurable warning, "You better pray to the Goddess I spare your life." I could feel his body's heat and tension like a coiled snake. I run my hands over his chest, slowly tracing his muscles. My resolve slips as I touch his bare skin, "I want you, Nye," my voice becomes low, a breathless whisper.

A wicked smile taints his lips, "You sure?" He teases.

I purse my lips, knowing what he's doing; I groan, "You know, sometimes I don't know if I want to punch you or fuck you."

"Both?" He smirks.

I take a sharp inhale; annoyance and desire flood me. I let out a restrained chuckle," Oh, watch me walk away–" I let out a small gasp as Nye grabbed my throat, the heat of his breath in my ear, "I'll show you what happens when you tempt a beast, Kamari. You're not walking away from me. Not when you've given me your so-called, "permission." He chuckles darkly, and goddess, if I wasn't wet before, I sure as hell was now.

Nye lets go of my neck, and his hands roam my body, and soon they're ripping off my clothes with needy hands; my breath comes heavy as I straddle him, and our lips crush together with bruising kisses. I let out a shuddered breath as he parted for only a second before claiming my lips again. "What happened to you wanting foreplay?" I smirk, murmuring into his lips.

A low growl comes from his chest, "I never need to; you're so eager to submit to me." He nips at my throat and digs his nails into my hips, eliciting a pleasurable moan from my lips. "Ugh, Goddess," I can't wait any longer and guide him inside of me. I felt him shudder and mutter something under his breath before pulling me into a brutal kiss; he thrusts into me hard and fast, both of us panting and clawing at each other like animals. I lose myself in him, my nails digging into his shoulders. His eyes roll into the back of his head as he groans deep in his throat, "Yes, Darling. Yes."

My hand braces me upon the tree trunk; I try to cover my mouth to dull my animalistic moans for Calea's sake. But he gives me a feral snarl, ripping my hand away from my mouth, "Darling, don't try to stifle your sounds. I want to hear them," and just when I think he couldn't go any deeper, he does, his strokes become more frantic, and I lose my sanity. He wraps his hand around my throat, pulls me into a bruising kiss, his tongue claiming me as thoroughly as his cock claims my body. I whimper like a fool, and he smiles like a devil, locking eyes with me until I come hard; my body trembles and I feel him spill his seed into me. I wrap my arms around his neck, glistening in sweat and, of course, the bite of copper.

As I lift my head, he pulls me into a tender kiss that short-circuits my mind. As he pulls away, I linger, my eyes fluttering open; he tucks a strand of wet hair behind my ear, "I hope you know you're the only one who calms my soul, Kamari." His voice is thick with emotion, something only I get to see. I place my forehead against him, "I'm happy you came back to me when I thought I'd lost you," I pause and swallow hard, "It felt like a void in my soul." Nye caresses my cheek, "I love you, Kamari; no one can keep me away from you."

I love these moments with Nye, where I can see through his roughness. I want them to last forever. As we get romantically lost in one another, I hear a scream that makes my heart jolt, and it's not just any scream. It's Caleas'.
