Ch. 3 Family Feud

"I'll tell you what? Since your power levels are more or less equal why don't we make a little game out of this? We will call it 'Which of you can last the longest against me'. The rules are simple, I cause you both a great deal of pain and you writhe around in agony. The loser is the first one to beg for mercy" Raditz taunts them. He seriously is playing this game though.

Piccolo is the first to speak. "That's it. I don't care how strong he is. I'm not gonna stand here and listen to this. I would prefer to die!"

Raditz laughs at the green man's statement. "Don't you worry about that green man. We'll get to that in due time"

Goku smirks. "Hey. Don't get ahead of yourself now. You haven't beaten us yet"

"Trust me Kakarot, I know an easy win when I see one! I'm a Saiyan. It's what I do" Raditz states.

Piccolo gets next to Goku. "Cmon Goku let's finish this guy. We will charge him together"

"Wait. Not yet. Not until I know he won't hurt my sons. I still don't know what he did with Gohan yet" Goku holds Piccolo back with a hand.

"Spare me the fatherly dramatics" Raditz then tells him where Gohan is, and it's where Gochi ran off to previously.

Goku runs to the crater and floats into the air to see Gochi trying to pry the doors of the space pod open with Gohan inside. "Daddy! Help! Please get me out!" Gohan calls out from inside as he cries.

Goku tells his sons to be strong and that he will save them both.

Raditz laughs at Goku's promise and says that he will be down in a minute, but not to help them. He'd be down on the ground dead.

"You should say your goodbyes though. You won't get another chance!" Raditz taunts.

Goku floats back down to the ground. "No! I won't lose!"

Piccolo prepares to attack. "Alright, let's do this!" Goku and Piccolo charge at Raditz together.

Punches and kicks are thrown. But nothing lands. Raditz either dodges it completely or blocks it with a hand all with a taunting expression on his face.

Even when Pjccolo and Goku strike from behind Raditz just horse kicks them both while floating midair.

They take the fight to the air and Raditz isn't breathing hard at all. He's just calm. He even smirks as he looks down at them from above.

"Haaaaaah!" He launches two powerful beam attacks downwards.

Goku dodges it barely. But piccolo isn't so lucky.

HIS ARM GETS BLASTED OFF!

The blasts continue until they hit solid ground and explodes in a huge blast.

Goku goes to the ground and can't find Raditz, he isn't in the air or on the ground that he can see. But then Raditz suddenly appears behind Goku and kicks him in the back.

"What's the matter with you two? You could have tried to be better sports than this. You don't want me to get bored do you?" Raditz says as he lowers his hands and leg.

Goku struggles to get off the ground and forces his body to move through the pain. Piccolo holds his stump of an arm.

Goku is concerned about Piccolo but the green man tells him not to worry and that it looks worse than it is.

Piccolo tells Goku about a new attack he made. And that he can do it with only one arm, but it'll take a while to gather the energy for it. So Goku will have to hold Raditz off until he has the required energy for it on his own. And for 5 minutes.

"5?! Really?! How would that have been useful if you were to fight me?!" Goku complains.

"It's your decision to do this or not. But this is our only hope Goku" Piccolo says.

"If you're sure it'll work then let's do this" Goku gets ready to attack.

Piccolo smiles nervously. "Well truth be told it's untested. I haven't used it against an opponent in battle yet"

They go back and forward as Piccolo says he will use it against Goku next if it works. Goku laughs at that and agrees, if they win that is.

"It wasn't a joke or meant to be funny". Piccolo says

"Wish me luck" Goku charges forward.

Piccolo begins gathering energy. "Good luck" he grunts out.

Goku jumps forward and clashes with Raditz.

Long story short:

Goku gets his shit pushed in.

Raditz toys with his baby brother Kakarot needlessly.

Goku gets hit into the air and stabilizes himself as he charges a Kamehameha.

Raditz gets surprised that Goku's power is sky rocketing until it reaches 950. Raditz realizes that Kakarot can concentrate his power into one spot to increase his attack power. Raditz's scouter then notices that Piccolo is doing the same thing but at a much more dangerous level.

Piccolo had a power level of 1000 and it's still climbing!

Goku fires his Kamehameha and bends it to chase Raditz since he dodged it initially.

Raditz stops running and holds his ground by canceling it out with his own energy blast.

Raditz then shows Goku how it's done and blasts Goku out of the sky with a pink energy blast.

He walks over to Goku who is still on the ground and he grabs the tattered gi he is wearing at the collar. Raditz brings his right arm back to deliver a devastating punch to Goku who can't even bring his arms up to defend himself.

Suddenly Raditz's scouter beeps and warns him of a high power level in the area. Raditz turns around and sees Piccolo with his index and middle finger together on his forehead, the fingers are glowing from the amount of energy stored and condensed in them.

Raditz checks the power level and is stunned.

His power level somehow reached 1330!

Raditz knows he can't block this attack head on so he charges up an attack to try and counter it a bit.

"Special Beam Cannon!"

Piccolo points his fingers at Raditz and shoots his dense beam attack and Raditz sends his own. Piccolos attack just goes through the ki blast and continues towards Raditz.

The light was so bright that nobody could see and an entire mountain was destroyed in the distance.

When the dust settles they see that Raditz dodged it and only took damage on his shoulder but…

Tis but a scratch.

There is some damage on his shoulder but all the attack really did was break Raditz's armor.

Gochi stops trying to open the pod. "I'm going to see if they're alright! Keep trying to get out Gohan!"

"Gochi! Don't go!" Gohan pleads as he bangs on the red glass window.

Gochi climbs out of the crater. He wonders what that bright light was. He also felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand up a bit too. Once he climbs out he looks around. He sees the green man doesn't have an arm anymore. His uncle got hurt on his shoulder. And his dad seems to be barely doing ok. His clothes are broken and damaged. And he has some blood trickling out from his mouth.

Raditz begins mocking Piccolo for his crappy aim. "Now remember back when we first met? I had a little trick I wanted to show you. Do you remember?"

Piccolo takes a step back in fear. "Yeah, I know"

Raditz grins with his teeth. "Do you remember it's name?"

He doesn't wait for an answer as he holds his left hand up in the air and concentrates as he forms a ki blast. It glows brightly.

"Double Sundayyyyyy!" Raditz moves his arm out towards piccolo. "…yyyyOOOooowwwwww"

Piccolo was expecting to die from that attack. But he is surprised to see Raditz stop mid throw.

The ki blast disperses and Raditz looks behind him to see his little brother holding his tail. He can't believe that Goku grabbed his tail.

"Hahahaha. You were careless. Hahahaha" Goku mocks as he holds Raditz's tail with both of his hands. And he isn't being gentle. He is gripping it tightly to make sure Raditz can't pull it out of his grasp.

"I'll never forget the pain I would feel when someone grabbed my tail and squeezed it!" Goku squeezes the tail tighter.

"Aaaaargh! Aahhhhh!" Raditz falls to his knees and then to the ground. His entire body feels like it's wracked with pain. "Gaahh. Aaaahh! Y-you shouldn't do that"

Goku ignores Raditz. "Piccolo! Think you can manage that attack one more time?!" Goku calls out to Piccolo who was a fair distance away.

Piccolo nods. "Yes Goku. With pleasure. I see you had a surprise attack after all. You sly dog" Piccolo holds his 2 fingers to his forehead again. "Now hold him tightly. This is the last time I can do this!"

Raditz looks at Goku. "Kakarot, please tell me you're not going to go through with this! I am your brother! Gaargh" Raditz pleads.

Goku looks to his so called brother. "Brother? Don't be ridiculous! You kidnapped my sons! Tried to kill me! And if I remember right you said you were going to exterminate everyone on the planet!"

Raditz smiles. "I was bluffing! I would have done or said anything to get you to join us! I swear it! And I didn't hurt your sons! They're my nephews after all! And Gochi told me about this planet a little bit. We had a good uncle nephew bonding time. He even taught me to cook a little!"

"Don't listen to him Goku! He will say anything to get loose" Piccolo warns.

Goku has a conflicted expression on his face.

"I was never going to kill you or the boys. Once I was sure I couldn't persuade you to join us, I-I was going to leave this planet for good. The truth is I could never hurt my own flesh and blood I swear it Kakarot" Raditz pleads again.

"You promise to leave? Yes, of course! I'll tell the others you won't join!" Raditz states as he digs his fingers into the ground from the pain from his tail.

"No Goku! He's trying to trick you! Don't let him go!" Piccolo shouts.

"I'll never come back to this planet I swear! I won't, I promise!" Raditz shouts.

"Why would you leave Uncle Raditz?! Why won't you stay with your family here?!" Gochi shouts as he runs over.

Goku looks at his son running towards him and Raditz. "Gochi?"

It was only for a moment, but Goku's grip loosened.

And that's all it took for Raditz to take his tail back and wrap it around his waist again.

As soon as his tail was released Raditz immediately stood up.

"No Goku!" Piccolo shouts.

Raditz stood so fast that nobody saw it. "Hyyyaaaahhh!"

Raditz drove his elbow backwards into Goku's face.

Goku wasn't expecting this attack and was sent backwards into the grass and dirt many feet away.

"Daddy!" Gochi shouts. "But why Uncle?!"

Raditz jumps over to Goku and stomps on his ribs. "Hahaha!"

Piccolo looks to Goku. "You've always been way too trusting Goku! And you kid, get outta here!"

Gochi takes a step back and looks around.

"Aaaaaaaaahhhhhh!" Goku screams as Raditz crushes his ribs.

"Hahaha! Fools! How could you! You are indeed my brother and his offspring! Just sentimental dopes! You are way too soft to be Saiyan warriors!" Raditz laughs at Goku and Gochi.

"That's… no… fair…" Goku says as he grabs Raditz's ankle with his right hand.

Raditz looks down at Goku who is beneath his boot. "You're right Kakarot. But I myself am a first class warrior and I won't hesitate to kill. Even my own brother if need be. Now say goodbye" He drives his heel into Goku's ribs and a crack sound can be heard. "Now beg! Beg for mercy!"

"Ggggrrrraaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!" Goku cries out in pain.

"Daddy?" Gohan looks out through the red window. He can hear screams of pain from outside.

Gochi falls to his knees. He can't do anything. He's too weak and can only watch.

Raditz turns to Piccolo "What are you waiting for?! Go ahead and try that little trick of yours again or can't you handle this?"

Piccolo is still charging energy. "It's no use. I still need more time…."

Raditz stomps on Goku again. "Hahahaha! Say 'uncle'. Hahahah" He then looks back to Piccolo. "Just look at the fool. Why do blue? Green man?! Is it because you're powerless to help your friend? Or is it because your just plain ugly?"

Raditz turns back to his brother. "I guess you aren't going to beg for me…. You're such a disappointment brother! Now die!" Raditz pointed a finger to the sky and prepares to fire an energy blast.

*BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP*

Raditz stops and looks at his scouter. "Huh?! It's picking up an enormous power level" He scans the area but only sees the green man and Gochi.

And Gochi's power level was only at 1 right now. Which in and of itself was weird.

*CRASH!*

They look to the crater and see Gohan jumping high into the air while his hat falls off. Around him is the broken space pod.

"Huh?!" Piccolo sees another brat suddenly join the fray.

"What?!" Raditz steps off of Goku and fully faces his other nephew who is high above him.

Gohan does many front flips until he lands on his feet just outside the crater.

Raditz points at Gohan. "It's you!? I don't believe it!"

Gohan glares angrily at Raditz as he shakes in anger. He then looks over to his right and sees his little brother Gochi on his knees looking disconnected and broken. This only fuels his anger at Raditz as he clenched his fists tightly.

"Goku! Look over towards the crater, it's your other son" Piccolo says incredulously.

"It can't be…." Raditz stares curiously, and in a bit of fear, at Gohan.

Goku can barely open his eyes from the pain he's feeling. But he is able to slightly open his right eye and see's his sons. "Gohan…. Gochi…. I can't get up right now so you two need to run away from here…." Gohan struggles to move. "Run away Gohan! Take Gochi with you….. Run now!"

Gohan doesn't listen to his father and only angrily stares at Raditz. His tears threaten to fall but they don't. Even the snot from his nose has stopped.

Raditz can help his mouth from falling open at the little boy's power level. "Power level is….. 1,370! Impossible for a kid! Ah man! It's still going up!"

Raditz, Piccolo, and Goku are shocked at this revelation.

Gohan continues to get more and more angry. A layer of red ki surrounds the little kid's body. "Leave my daddy….. ALONE!!!!"

Gohan shouts with all his might and his ki surges outwards. "AAAAAHHHHHH!" Gohan shouts as he blasts off towards Raditz at insane speeds.

Raditz isn't able to react as Gohans skull heavily impacts his chest. The blow hits him so hard that it even cracks his battle armor. "Arrgghhh!"

Goku watches with wide eyes as his son deals more damage to Raditz than he and piccolo combine in many minutes fighting. Just a single blow.

"Gahhh! Ooggghhh, urrrrgghh!" Raditz gets the breath taken from his lungs.

And Gohan begins falling to the ground.

Raditz stops himself from falling to the ground and holds his hand above his chest where he was just struck. "What the?!"

Goku barely sits up and looks at Gohan who hits the ground on his back. "G-Gohan?"

Gohan looks around and sees his dad not too far away. "Daddy?" He stands up and walks towards Goku.

Goku sits up partially and leans on one arm. "Gohan. Go. Get out of here with Gochi"

The little boy begins tearing up again. "But daddy!"

Raditz begins shuffling his way towards the child who just hit him. "No ones ever… done that… too me!"

"No! Stay back!" Goku shouts. He's slowly gaining his strength back. But the pain in his ribs is nigh unbearable.

Raditz continues towards the father and son duo.

"Gohan, you have to go! Your brother needs you Gohan! Quick, run now!" Goku pleads with his son.

Raditz uses his scouter to scan Gohan again. "What?! Hey kid! What happened to all that power you had?"

Gohan backs away, towards his dad, a step. "What p-power?"

Raditz stands over the kid. "Tch! Play dumb if you want! You'll pay all the same!"

Raditz's shadow covers Gohans figure as terror washes over Gohan. "D-Daddy…help…."

Goku moves to his stomach and reaches out for his son. "Leave him alone!"

Raditz backhands the living shit out of Gohan and sends him careening to the side.

"Gohan!" Goku shouts.

"G-Gohan?" Gochi looks to the side and sees his big brother roll across the ground and then stop, not moving at all. Not even his tail that is always doing something.

Gochi feels a burning sensation within his body as tears fall from his face. His muscles all tighten as he shakily breathes in and out as the beat in his ear from the earbud gets drowned out by his rapidly rising heartbeat.

*BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP* *BEEP*

"You?!" Raditz turns to Gochi as his scouter reads the boys power level. "200…. 370….. 825….. 1,200…. it keeps rising! It's even going past 1,500!"

"Raditz!" Gochi shouts as he gets to his feet. Green ki surrounds his little figure. "We are your family! And family doesn't hurt family!!!!!!"

Gochi ignores the pain from his body as he charges at Raditz. The man can't do much as Gochi drives his feet into his stomach and sends him flying backwards.

The air in his lungs get forced out again, but he isn't given time to breathe as he sees Gochi flying towards him.

Raditz looks at the rapidly approaching child. 'How can he even fly?! And what's with this power?! It's rising but also slightly falling!'

"Aaaahhhhhhh!" Gochi shouts as he slams his right fist into Raditz's face and sends him into the ground.

Raditz forgets where he is for a moment as his body hits the ground once before he is driven deeper into the ground.

Gochi forces his feet down onto Raditz's chest.

The already cracked armor nearly shatters from the blow.

"Big brothers….!" Gochi kicks Raditz to the side.

"Protect their little brothers!!!!" The child gets infront of Raditz's path and hits his back with his right fist. "NOT hurt them!"

Gochi flys over radits as he is sent through the air again. "Be a good uncle!!" Gochi then punches his face again.

Raditz crashes into the ground. His body digs through the ground slightly as a small crater is formed.

Gochi floats above him. "Make up with Daddy! Your the only family left from outer space right?! So apologize and be nice!!!!" Gochi hits Raditz in the chest again and completely shatters the armor on his torso.

Raditz coughs up blood as his body bounces from the blow and hits the ground again. He thinks of his mom and dad. Even if his dad wasn't as kind hearted as his mom, he still cared for his family significantly more than other Saiyans. He remembers seeing little Kakarot in the nursing capsule, floating in the nutrition fluid. His mother telling him to be a good brother and look out for Kakarot.

Raditz looks up at the blue sky and wonders if this is it. Will he really die at the hands of his nephew? And could he really change? All he has ever known was war and fighting. Getting pushed around by Vegeta and Nappa like he was lower than dirt compared to them had made him bitter and his heart grow cold. That and the loss of Planet Vegeta made for a very bad cocktail of emotions.

Gochi's power continued to surge, his bracers shining extremely bright, as if they were about to explode, or melt.

"Move brat!" Piccolo shouts as he fires his attack. He couldn't properly hold the attack back once it was charged. And he wouldn't be able to use it again, if he had to sacrafice Goku's kid then so be it. He'd probably try and kill him afterwards anyway like Goku.

"Gochi!" Goku somehow gets a burst of strength, a second wind. But it's too late. He had been trying to get close to him after his ki exploded but had found it difficult to move. He doesn't want his son to hurt himself with his own power, but then there was also Piccolos attack now. Goku didn't know what to do.

Raditz closes his eyes as he accepts his fate. He isn't happy about it. Not one bit. But he just couldn't do anything about it with his bartered body. He'd find it hard to move after even the first two hits from Gochi.

Blinding light washes over the entire area around them.

The beam attack goes towards Raditz with Gochi in its path, and Goku nowhere near close or fast enough to save his son.

But suddenly the attack changed direction.

"Stay out of this Green Man!!" Gochi shouts.

The attack gets swatted to the side by Gochi like it was a fly.

"Ngh!" Goku falls to his knee. He holds his stomach where an even more intense burning sensation than before can be felt. But he lowers through it, he has to stop his son. "G-Gochi!"

Unfortunately Gochi doesn't hear him and prepares to fire a ki blast at Piccolo.

But before he can get rid of the green man he feels someone wrap their arms around him. His first instinct is to buck and kick, scream and fight the person. But he hears his fathers words.

"It's me Gochi. That's enough. You can stop now. You can rest" Goku says in a low tone. Mostly because he feels his strength leaving him.

"Daddy?" Gochi turns his head and see's his fathers smiling, bloodied, and bruised face.

"It's me buddy…. Everything is ok now….." Goku falls down to the ground.

Gochi's energy instantly disappears and he falls to his knees beside his father and uncle. "Daddy….?"

Raditz's scouter tells him that the immense power level goes away and leaves on a power level of 1.

Piccolo walks over to the three idiots. "You're all fools. It's a shame I didn't get you with my last attack but none of you look like you're able to defend yourself"

"You don't look so hot yourself… green man. And you just killed Kakarot. How do you think this child will take it when Kakarot draws his final breath?" Raditz gets out through his pained breathing. He can't wait to seee Gochi rip apart this annoying bug. Although, he probably won't be moving at all with his current state.

"Hahaha! You fool! Goku's friends will just wish him back with the dragonballs within a week! He will get the last laugh and you will die by my hand" Piccolo mocks Raditz.

Raditz grabs his scouter and destroys it. "You are a fool! Why would you say that!" Raditz shouts before recoiling and grabbing his chest.

"Why? To let you know that your death and actions have no meaning and no lasting effect! That's why!" Piccolo exclaims.

"You don't understand what you just did! They were listening! They will come here now you fool!" Raditz holds his chest.

Gochi is leaning on his father crying silently. Everything hurts so bad. And his dad isn't moving and only making pained noises. And he doesn't know if Gohan is ok. He can barely hear anything over the ringing in his ears.

"Who's they?! And what do you care?!" Piccolo demands as he takes a step closer.

"The other two Saiyans! That's who! They're extremely more powerful than me and you just gave them a very big reason to come here! They would destroy 100's of planets to revive only a handful of Saiyans! What do you think they'd do if they found a way?! And I care because…." Raditz looks to his side and sees his nephew over Kakarot's body. He continues in a low tone compared to shouting. "….because I was reminded of who my true family is. Not just Saiyans, but MY family. Damn Kakarot. If only he'd just came with me or finished his mission this wouldn't have happened. We are powerless against them. In only a years time they will show up…"

"Kaaagh. Only a year?" Goku coughs up blood. "And is what… you said really true…. Raditz?"

"It is Kakarot. In a years time they will ransack this planet" Raditz says looking at his brothers beaten figure.

"And… what will you do if you live?" Goku asks.

"What? I'm going to die so what does it matter?" Raditz feels his limbs grow extremely cold as his mind gets foggy.

"Just… answer. Will you protect my sons? Will you change your ways? Protect your family?" Goku asks with what's left of his strength.

"What will it ma-"

"Daddy…. Uncle…." Gochi barely gets out. He doesn't want any more fighting. And his head hurts when they talk.

"Gochi….." Raditz looks at the shaking child he can hear the severe pain in his voice. It might even be as bad as his own to a degree. "Fine Kakarot. I'll humor you. If I live I'll protect my family, just like our father would have. Alright? Just like our mom would have wanted"

"Piccolo…" Goku turns to face the man.

"What is it Goku? Don't tell me you seriously believe his words" Piccolo wonders just how foolish one man can be.

"Can't you hear it in his voice? He really meant that one. And what's the worse that could happen? He joins the other two Saiyans who are coming to destroy the planet? It's already hopeless if they arrive. So let Raditz have the chance to help us. If he does we might actually beat them when they come" Goku tries to say in his usually cheerful tone. But it comes across much darker than he expected.

"Goku…." Piccolo turns to Raditz. "Would you fight your previous allies?"

Raditz looks at birds flying in the sky. "It would be hopeless….. but if I had to, I suppose I would"

"Piccolo, please. Dying wish and all?" Goku smiles and laughs before coughing out more blood.

"You continue to amaze me Goku. And not in a good way" Piccolo looks up to the sky and sees something flying towards them. "It seems you're other friends are arriving now as well"

What will happen next? Will Raditz be given a chance? Will he actually do as he says this time? Will Goku, Gochi, and Gohan survive their wounds? What will Goku's friends do when they arrive? How can they fight the looming threat of the two Saiyans? How will Chi-Chi respond to what happened on this day?
