Hazel Eyes

Damon was shocked and surprised when he saw Ashley hiding behind a tree. How didn't he know that she had been there the whole time? Now she saw what he did. This was not good.

He saw the terrified look on her face and saw her tremble where she was as she looked from his hands to his face. She would definitely be really scared of him now. There was nothing he could do but erase her memory by compelling her to forget what she saw. He didn't want to do it but he had no choice.

The question was will it work on her? He had to try first.

Damon started to walk towards her and the next thing he saw was her running away. He was right, she was scared. Who wouldn't run for their lives after seeing something as terrible as that happen? He was sure she saw the demon fade away, he wondered what she would think about that. If only he could just hear her thoughts.

"Stop!" He called out but what was he thinking, she didn't answer him, she was not going to answer him, she was not supposed to answer him, she would probably think he would hurt her as well. He was used to people being afraid of him but this was a different case, he just killed somebody right before her eyes so the fear was sort of a different one.

Damon had no choice but to forcefully stop her. He couldn't let her get away because if he did, she would never forget what she saw today and that could ruin his plans of getting closer to her.

Using his powers, he made her stop. She trembled slightly as he neared and Damon could hear the loud beating of her heart. When he stood in front of her, he saw that she looked like she was going to cry. Slowly she shook her head, her eyes looking back at his pleadingly.

"Please don't..." She started but Damon didn't let her finish.

He knew she wanted to beg for her life, but he had no plans of hurting her, not when he was suspecting that she was or could be the woman he loved.

Gazing into her hazel eyes that looked so much like Irene's, he did what he had to do and it seemed like it worked because she walked away from him like nothing had happened. That was good he thought. At least for now.

Damon watched her walk away till she disappeared from his sight. He walked over to the spot where he had killed the man, no, where he killed the demon. They really had the mind to send a few demons to him first and this particular one really had the mind to even confront him. Maybe after dealing with this one the others will think twice before doing anything stupid.

The SAGE, those four demons were really desperate to eliminate him and they have started with their foolish plans. Damon knew that these other demons they sent to him was their way of warning him that they will soon come fully for him. But that didn't move him at all. The news of this one he just killed will soon get to them.

Damon just didn't like the bad timing. Why did it have to be now, when he had personal stuff to deal with that they decided to start with their stupid interruptions? They should have come long ago when he had doubts that he was going to find his mate, even though he didn't give up on finding her but he would have really had the time to deal with them and even enjoyed the time dealing with them.

After standing there thinking for a while, he went to Ashley's apartment and watched her from outside through the window. He didn't want her to catch him so he sat on a tree close to her house instead and watched her from there.

She had changed her clothes and was now packing her hair into a bun. Then he saw her make her bed and lie down. She played with her phone for a while before she put it away and slept off. Damon stayed there for a long time just watching her. He saw her toss and turn at times which made him reason that she was not having a good sleep. When it was almost dawn, he left for his own house.

When he got home, he called for Sephirah. The lady appeared looking like someone that was dragged out of sleep. She looked at Damon questioningly.

"Why do you need me this early? I was still enjoying my sleep." She told him sounding annoyed.

"I need you to do something for me."

"By this time? You could have waited a bit." She told him.

Damon ignored her.

"The SAGE have begun with their plan. Some of their minions are here on Earth already." He told her and her eyes widened.

"How come I didn't know?" She wondered.

"I dealt with one yesterday and unfortunately Ashley witnessed it." Damon explained and Sephirah's eyes widened even more.

"She saw you deal with a demon? How? Where? When?"

"It all happened on her way home last night, I think she saw everything that happened and I had to erase it from her head."

"Did it work?" Sephirah asked because of the kind of person she knew the lady was.

"I think so." Damon shrugged.

"Or you hope so, which one?" She asked and Damon shot her a glare. "So what are you going to do, I mean about the SAGE?" She decided to ask instead.

Damon was the least worried about them now he had something else on his mind.

"Nothing, yet." He told her.

"Do you think it's Ashley?" Sephirah suddenly asked.

Damon seemed to think for a while. "I'm on that, she could be the one."

"If she is the one I'm starting to have a bad feeling about this. You said their minions are on earth already huh?" She asked and Damon nodded unsure of what she was driving at.

"If they also find out that Ashley is the woman you've been looking for...." Sephirah didn't finish but Damon understood immediately.

He really knew this was bad timing. Maybe he shouldn't be the least worried about them now. What happened in the past could not start to repeat itself. No! This time he would take action on time.

The SAGE couldn't know the woman Damon was looking for. They'll probably just follow his every move so when they know he found her, they take action to hurt him by hurting her. Just like it happened before. How didn't he think about this before? Was that the reason they hadn't shown up yet?

Of course. They would know that no matter what they can't just get to him so hurting his woman will be the best way to start with him.

Damon began to feel the anger rising in him.

"If she is the one, I'm never going to let them hurt her, I'm not letting that happen again!" Damon said as his hands turned into fists. He had spent four hundred years on earth looking for his love, those years would not become a waste now. He couldn't help the images of the dead body of Irene that came to his head. He was late then but this time he was going to be on time!

"How do you know if she's the one?" Sephirah asked.

"First, she has the same type of eyes." Damon said Sephirah looked at him.

"A lot of people can have hazel eyes"

"This is different, I know it. I may find something else. Mother told me I'll find what would make me know she is the one when I meet with her." He said getting up from where he had been seated.

"So what do you plan to do?" Sephirah asked him.

"Get closer to her."

"How?"

"I'll find a way and I think that's where you come in." Damon said.

"Me? What I'm I supposed to do? Invite her to dinner at my house with you too and then leave you two alone then at the end of the day you offer to drive her home?" Sephirah snapped sounding annoyed before she realized what she said. Why did she think that?

Damon smirked, "That's what you are going to do."
