Chapter 49

Next day...

Eva woke up feeling sore and weak, she has a terrible throbbing headache with a running nose. She didn't feel like getting out of bed because she was burning up, but she has no choice because she has to go to work. She struggled to get out of bed and decided to take a cold shower hoping to cool off her body temperature.

She wore a turtleneck sweater paired with a blazer jacket and jeans, and she wasn't in the mood for heels, so she decided to wear a flat shoe.

After dressing up, she heads downstairs, to have her breakfast before heading to work.

After breakfast, despite the loss of appetite, she managed to eat a little because she didn't want everyone on the table notice shes not feeling fine especially Rosie.

On getting outside, as she was about to enter the car, she saw Addy's car entering her mansion. She was shocked to see him

"What are you doing here?" She asked weakly. He was wearing a white teeshirt with jeans and sneakers.

"I knew it, you are ill" Addy didn't bother to start explaining himself, he went straight to her and felt her body temperature, she was burning up.

"You are coming with me" he pulled her and drag her with him.

Lilian who was already in the car came out and was wondering what was going on. She suspected Eva wasn't feeling fine but didn't want to say anything in the house, because she doesn't want Rosie to be worried and Aunty Rhoda, but how in the hell did this guy know she wasn't feeling fine.

"Where are you dragging her too?" Lilian asked

"Can you cancel all her appointments for today?" Addy asked

"I already did, but she still needs to sign some urgent and important documents in the office"

"Well she is coming with me"

"No I am not, I have to be in the office this morning to sign the documents"

"You are not feeling fine, how can you go to the office in this state?" Addy asked

"Well, I will manage" she replied. When Addy saw that he cannot convince her,

"Fine, I will go with you then and that is final"

"Don't you have work?"

"Leo will represent me today, I took a day off. Anyway, you are coming with me in my car" He told Lilian, they would meet in their office.

Eva was so tired to start talking or trying to convince him, as she entered his car with him. He told his driver to take them to Eva's office.

As soon as she entered, he brought out a flask and poured out its content and gave her to drink.

"What is this?"

"It's a herbal tea, it will warm your body"

She collected it and drank the tea

"Urgh, it's so bitter"

"Don't worry, your mouth won't be bitter for long"

On their way, Eva was so tired she started to doze off, but soon they got to the company's basement, where Lilian was already waiting.

"You can't come with me, I don't want any rumour to start," She said weakly

"Good thing I brought this with me" he replied with a big smile, showing her his hat and mask for the perfect disguise.

Eva was speechless, and couldn't believe he was really prepared for anything.

He put on his disguise before getting out of the car and escorting Eva and Lilian as if he is their bodyguard.

On getting upstairs, Gary was shocked to see Eva looking so pale and was even more surprised to see a bodyguard behind them.

"Big sis are you not feeling fine? You look pale" Gary was concerned

"Don't worry about me I'm fine, just have a little cold" Eva smiled

"Ok but take it easy, let me know if you need anything ok," he said as he hugged her. He could hear growling sounds coming from the bodyguard

"Big sis, what is wrong with your bodyguard, is he hungry?" Gary asked curiously

Eva turned to look at Addy and smile.

"Bodyguard, are you hungry?" she asked teasing him

"It's weird though, why would you hire a bodyguard?" Gary asked Eva before Addy could reply. She turned to Addy again to ask

"Bodyguard, why did you hire yourself?" She smiled teasingly

"Wait, he hired himself?"Gary was so shocked, he has never heard someone hire themselves as bodyguards before.

"Big sis are you sure he is not a stalker?" Gary whisper to Eva's hears loud enough for Addy to hear him.

Addy couldn't take it anymore, he immediately removed his disguise, Gary almost fell on his knee.

"Ah...Andrew...I didn't mean to call you a bodyguard or stalker, please forgive me" his face is turning white. He tapped Eva, to help him beg.

"Don't worry he can't touch you"

Gary was relieved to hear that but was still scared to look him in the eyes because he looks so scary right now. 'OMG I must have pissed him off so bad'

Eva gave a weak laugh before she entered her office with Addy.

"Make yourself comfortable," she said as she went behind her desk to sit.

Her desk is filled with lots of documents she needs to sign.

"Don't tell me that is how much documents you need to sign today? When will you go home to rest?"

"I will rest when I'm done"

Despite the fact that Eva was not feeling fine, she read each file and went through them thoroughly before signing them. Addy watched her quietly, and try as much as he can, not to disturb her.

Lunchtime was approaching, and Addy suggested they go get lunch but Eva refused because she didn't want to take many breaks from the documents, the earlier she finishes the better.

He decided to order some food, hoping she would eat something, but she didn't because she didn't have any appetite to eat. Addy was getting worried, that she might pass out if she keeps going, but she didn't answer him.

Late in the afternoon, Eva was feeling more tired and now dizzy, and the documents remaining was less than ten. She continued to push herself. Addy saw she was straining herself, he felt like helping her but unfortunately, it has to be her signature.

She managed to finish the last document just a few minutes after the closing time.

As she was about to stand up, she passed out.
