Chapter 17

Chapter 17

Ryan McFlame ~

Together, I and my brothers got ourselves prepared for the worst and finding Frederick and Morgana, they followed us to what those in the Eastern coven referred to as 'The Control Room'. It was a very wide and spacious room with screens, switches and controls on one side out of four, and a couple of weapons on another side opposite to that. I watched as the lycans made their way through the gates and then proceeded into the coven.

Frederick made us all equip and arm ourselves. Like him, I had no intentions of going down without a fight. The mission of those lycans is unclear so we all would have to take extreme caution. The lycans went straight to our direction. In a short while, they were just at the opposite side of the door leading in and out of the control room.

At the same time as they were doing their best to break the heavy door down, a man appeared behind Rex and held him by the neck. Somehow, Rex couldn't do anything to object what the man was doing to him. The rest of us phoenixes ignited fireballs in our hands ready to burn the man to ashes but he claimed that if we do that, there would be no saving Rex and judging by his words, he meant business.

It was as if his powers were dormant. We all turned back to see the shocking sight. It was then that I realized that the man with a phoenixes within his clutches was the being referred to as 'Cassius'. The present king of the lycans. He made mention of the fact that he wasn't here for any of the vampyres and that his deal was just with us – THE LAST PHOENIXES IN EXISTENCE.

Rex in his phoenix form began to scream and I knew that he was in pain. Cassius was doing something to him. I could see his flames enter into Cassius. If I didn't know any better, I would say that Cassius was sucking away his power but as far as I know, that is impossible. Cassius proposed an offer that if they let him have us, he would be as good as gone.

"NEVER!!!" Frederick shouted as he lifted up his sword out of its sheath and struck a lycan thereby dividing his body from his head.

"Obduracy, the belief of a fool. Frederick Claw, I expected no less from you." Cassius said tightening his grip on Rex's neck.

Right before my eyes, all of Rex' flame went into Cassius and the whole thing that was left of him were his ashes and then Cassius was nowhere to be seen. I could no longer see him. Turns out that the worst had happened. Cassius could absorb the power of creatures like us phoenixes and perhaps everyone and anyone else which includes also taking out their life force.

"Kill them all!!! Get me those phoenixes!!!" stormed Cassius as he appeared in front of the pack of lycans.

"Consider it done!" replied a lycan as he raged into the control room followed by the others until a large quantity of them all had entered.

Cassius disappeared again and this time, he appeared behind Paul holding him by both of his hands. The fight was on from the front of the lycans but Cassius was making it so hard to lay a finger on him. He had already taken Rex' everything. There is no chance that he's going to have Paul or any more of us. I took up my sword and ignited it with my power.

I ran and drove it right into Cassius.

"Wait for your turn." he said giving me a flick through the air and I flew up to the ceiling and landed on some vampyres. "Do you know what's so special about you guys?" asked Cassius.

He was given no answer seeing as everyone was busy defending the phoenixes by taking the lycans down.

"Well, it is the fact that you all survived a curse and not just any curse, A CELESTIAL CURSE. A curse that by all means possible, was meant to disintegrate you out of the surface of this earth." "For you to be able to do such, there's a rare and powerful core in you. I need that powerful core." "You all have a gift and I want it." Cassius added and Paul fell of his grip and turned into a pile of ashes.

"Two down, four to go!"

After I had tried driving an enchanted flaming sword through Cassius and it bore no effect, it was then that my eyes were opened and I realized that there was no winning this fight.

Not for us anyways.

The only possible upper hand or leverage we have against Cassius and his men was I and my brother's abilities. If the remaining of us could sum up our strength, we might just have enough power to put out Cassius and his gang but also, there's a very large probability that we could end up roasting the entire coven and everyone in it.

There's no chance that we are going to do that because that may be just what Cassius would want us to do. If we unify our strength, we'll be making Cassius mission of absorbing all our power and ability to be much easier and I guess, faster.

I looked over to Alessia and discovered that she was on a standstill and the pupils of her eyes had gone green in color.

"You have the power to stop this Jacob! You are their alpha and they'll listen to your every command. If you don't, they may all end up being dead." Alessia said walking up to a lycan after dropping her sword to the fate of the bloody ground.

"Even now Alessia, you know the laws. You are fully aware how this works. DEFEAT THE ALPHA AND YOU BECOME THE ALPHA, DEFEAT THE KING AND THEN YOU'LL BECOME THE KING." the lycan replied walking to meet Alessia. "Anyways you know that I can't even stop this, even if I wanted to. I may be their alpha and they take orders from me but Cassius is my alpha and I take orders from him." he added charging straight for Alessia with full claws.

"I didn't make the rules. It has always been the goddess."

"Too bad that you do. I'm going to miss having you around." Alessia said as she conjured up her sword from the ground and with speed, it flew into the air and ran the lycan through by the head alongside three others before it got back into her grip.

Everyone was giving in a fight for us and I wasn't left out. I used my abilities to kill as many lycans that I could. For the time being, once again Cassius had disappeared so I think bringing the remaining phoenixes out of this place while they still have their powers was the best thing that I could do.

That way, I lead everyone out of harm's way seeing as Cassius is hell bent on getting us even at the decision of putting to an end, anyone that stands in his way and that included my vampyre friends.

The Royal coven has already fallen, I can't add the Eastern coven to its fate too. I ran to meet Frederick to let him know of my intentions at the same time, keeping alert for the invisible Cassius.

"And where do you think that you are going? Huh?" asked a lycan sinking his elongated Claws into my back and threw me across the room.
