Once clean, I stretched out in the water and we lay foot to foot, then moved closer until his legs were up over mine and we were near dick to dick.

“Never done this,” he said.

“Me either.”

I had never bathed with anyone, never lay in a creek with one either, and surely never like this. We made no move to play around, just let the water slide around us, and now and again splashed some. Things were still and quiet, the water’s gentle flow soothing. I believe that’s the definition of tranquil, and I saw how that was rare in my life.

I could have kept like that for hours, but young fellows don’t cotton to idleness as much as those seasoned. Frank began to fidget, then announced himself hungry. Funny, I’d forgotten about the picnic lunch.
