"Hmm..." Zenkichi groaned as he opened his eyes, staring blankly at the dark starry sky.
He could hear all kinds of noises entering in and out of his ears; it was mostly vehicles, electronics and people. And they were speaking english?
'This place... Where am I?'
"You're finally awake?" A familiar female voice snapped him out of his daze.
Zenkichi didn't get to move when Brunhilde's face appeared over him. Though she looked calm, there was no mistaking the concern glint in her bright emerald eyes.
"Yeah, good morning to you too Brunhilde." Zenkichi smirked and slowly raised his upper body from her pretty comfortable lap. He turned his head to look around his surroundings.
He blinked his eyes.
Brunhilde hummed, "You said you were japanese, despite having blond hair, but you never said you lived in the states."
"...No, no I don't live in the states." His lips twitched as he stared at the McDonald's sign that was shining brightly next to them with several other buildings and structures that wasn't found locally in his hometown or in Japan.
"Where the fuck are we?!"
"I believe we're somewhere called Ohio." Brunhilde lightly replied.
"...Seriously?" Zenkichi let out a groan.
If the system had messed up their transportation, it should at least have the decency to transport them somewhere cooler. Like Vegas or Boston.
He heard the stories about Ohio...
Zenkichi shivered.
"Hmm. How's your body anyway?" Brunhilde asked, curiously poking at his bare bicep.
Zenkichi blinked, and looked down to see himself completely naked.
He was confused for a moment before remembering that he caused an explosion that killed Amaterasu and himself.
Letting out a sigh, he grabbed new clean clothes from the system inventory; a white t-shirt and dark-blue shorts, their school P.E. uniform, one of the many things that he randomly got from his daily pull.
"Looks like my idea worked..." Zenkichi muttered as he clenched his fist, feeling the overwhelming power coursing under his skin and in his vessels.
"Idea?" Brunhilde asked.
"Remember how I revived after getting split open by Gungnir and then became completely immune to the spear's attacks? It's an ability of mine that lets me have nine lives, and when I die I become completely immune to the thing that killed me." Zenkichi replied, explaining to Brunhilde as he raised both his arms and two flames burned in his hands.
"And the reason why I had killed myself when fighting Amaterasu was because of my ability. Think about it, if I can become immune to Odin's golden spear then why can't I become immune to my divine and demonic powers if these killed me?"
"Oh." Brunhilde clapped her hands. "Not bad. As expected of my Einherjar. You've got a warrior's gut alright. But then, why didn't you just kill yourself when Odin used his magic so you can have magic immunity as well?"
"...It hurts like hell."
"Ah." Brunhilde nodded understandingly.
Zenkichi huffed and closed his eyes, feeling the two opposing energies in his body.
Both Divine and Demonic energies working in forced synergy and flowed naturally in his body; continuously strengthening his body, increasing his overall physical capabilities and healing factor that it made it impossible for any sort of mortal injuries and diseases would affect him.
He was, in all essence, a technical Demon God. Or a Divine Infernal from what the system is telling him.
'So this is the difference between a God and a human,' Zenkichi smirked to himself, feeling a newfound sense of power and confidence. He couldn't help but revel in the fact that he had surpassed his previous limitations and become something greater.
No wonder the Gods were so arrogant. Just without using The Iron, he could already feel as though bullets and missiles wouldn't do shit to him!
What happens if he were to use The Iron as well?
Doesn't that make him fucking indestructible or something?!
'No wait,' Zenkichi shook his head. 'I gotta focus. What happened to the world? Is it fixed? Mom, Naze, Ryota, Shiranui, Medaka, Nekomi... System, answer me.'
[Ding! User's homeworld has been successfully fixed. All the damages that the 'Tragedy' created had all been erased and will not be recreated for the time being.]
Zenkichi let out relieved sigh.
"Good, that's good. But, why did we get transported to Ohio?"
[That's because Ohio's the nearest location with an abundance of magical power that can handle the power of crossing worlds.]
"Really? And Kyoto's not?" He'd seen enough to now that Kyoto's probably a hotspot of magic or Onmyōdō, as Japan's major magical leyline or something.
[A rip between the void of worlds had been ripped opened in Kyoto, causing a great disturbance of all kinds of energies in the area. Teleporting you and Brunhilde there would cause catastrophic consequences and may result in the destruction of the city. Ohio was chosen as a safer alternative due to its distance from the epicenter of the disturbance.]
Zenkichi nodded, understanding the rationale behind the decision. It was clear that the system was trying to avoid any further damage or chaos.
"Alright." He turned towards Brunhilde and said. "Brunhilde, change into your Völundr form."
"Why?"
"It's because we're flying back home and I don't think I'm confident enough flying back to Japan with another person."
"Can't you just get into a plane or something? Also, you don't have to worry, I can fly as well." Brunhilde raised an eyebrow. She understood the feeling of flying in the sky very well, every Valkyrie did; the sense of freedom, the exhilarating rush of air against their skin.
But that was in Asgard, where no mortals could see them and stupidly think they were UFOs or secret military grade weapon of another nation!
Gods. She loves humans but they could be so clueless sometimes.
Zenkichi scratched his cheek, slightly embarrassed. "Well, I... didn't exactly bring any kind of document or ID with me to board a plane. Plus, I have a feeling I might attract some attention."
'Medaka's family is rich as fuck. I remember back in elementary, for my birthday, she had reserved the entire Boracay Island for one whole week. An island! It's bad enough that I disappeared from school, if she were to find out I somehow ended up in the states.... Mom's gonna kill me!' A bead of cold sweat dropped from his temple.
"It's better to be safe than sorry."
Brunhilde sighed in understanding. "Fine, we'll–oh wait." She blinked, remembering another alternative. "What about a teleportation spell?!"
"...I haven't learned that yet though."
She rolled her eyes and tapped his forehead with her right index finger.
[Ding! Congratulations, you've learned Teleportation Magic.]
[Ding! Due to your title, Man from Another World, you've instantly mastered how to use this magic spell.]
Brunhilde then said, "There. Since you somehow got divine power, and demonic power that you still haven't explain to me on how you got them in first place, using Teleportation Magic or most magic spells in existence should come to you as breathing now."
Zenkichi raised his eyebrows and nodded, "Well, not exactly but yes. Also, I'll explain how I got this Divine Authority and Demon Power later." Unhesitatingly, he outstretched his arm out to hug Brunhilde's waist.
"This should be a great story to hear..." Brunhilde muttered, not minding Zenkichi's touch as they prepared to teleport back home.
Zenkichi turned his head, staring out at the noisy and so-so city he was randomly dropped in.
"Welp, it was fun while it lasted Ohio. Someday, when I ever come back, I'll come visit whatever nice tourist spots you guys have here."
'I wonder how they're doing right now... Well, I'll see soon enough!'
With a deep breath, Zenkichi focused his thoughts on their destination, visualizing the familiar surroundings of his hometown in Japan. He chanted the teleportation spell in his mind, feeling the surge of energy accompanying his words.
And just like that, in a flash of light, they disappeared from Ohio and reappeared on top of Hakoniwa Academy's Gymnasium.
Instead of the night sky and a full moon above their head, it was a sunny afternoon sky.
Brunhilde looked around, observing the school campus with a curious gaze.
'So this is the school that Zenkichi enrolls in. Hehe. I wonder, are they hiring right now?'
Zenkichi was stunned.
Everything looked the same as it were before everything went to shit. He could hear students chatting and laughing, the sound of basketballs bouncing on the court, and the familiar scent of the campus.
"I'm back..." Zenkichi muttered, a mixture of relief and nostalgia washing over him. Unknowingly, tears started flowing out of his eyes.
He shook his head, snapping out of his daze.
Although he was very eager to rush in and find his friends, there was something else more important he had to do first.
"Brunhilde, could you wait for me here for a bit?" Zenkichi set his gaze on a very tall clocktower, the tallest building in the entire school campus. He narrowed his bright ocean blue eyes, flames danced within them. "I've got something really important to do first."
Unbeknownst to Zenkichi, someone had noticed him and Brunhilde standing on top of the gymnasium.
A wide smile split across his unblemished face, his blue eyes shone with a strange glint with his black hair flowing against the wind.
"Heh~ If it isn't Zenkichi-chan! Well, isn't he doing just fine. He seemed to have gotten stronger. And he's also with a gorgeous woman like her. How nice." The light in his eyes died, showing a blank expression on his face.
Out of nowhere, two big and dangerous looking screws appeared in each of his hands.
"I was thinking of greeting that geezer first for welcoming me in his school but since I've seen an old... friend. It'll be rude of me to not say hello."
