"This is my dark power, and you're about to witness its true potential." Williams smirked evilly and began floating in the air as his eyes glowed gold and a torrent of energy gathered all around his body.
"Dance, my servants; fulfill my orders and slaughter these nuisances." He ordered his followers. "Kill Reagan; kill everyone in your path." Reagan and I both simultaneously lunged towards the minions and sent numerous fireballs hurling through the air.
The fireballs easily pierced through the void demons, decimating them instantly. Reagan began casting various spells, unleashing shockwaves, explosions, and torrents of lava throughout the courtyard. But it didn't seem like it was affecting Williams in the slightest. All the attacks simply went straight through his body, passing harmlessly through his incorporeal form.
Williams cackled maniacally as he saw his enemies struggle against his army of servants, reveling in his superiority. I, however, wasn't about to stand there and watch this madness ensue. That's when Leo, Past Sora, Remi, Myra, and Rayne walked into this battlefield of madness. "What the hell is this about?" My past self watched as Williams delved deeper into a state of insanity.
"Leo, don't! Leave now!" I desperately shouted, wanting them to go back. I couldn't bear it if another version of Leo was killed.
"I can't run, not while Reagan is fighting his hardest. I just can't ignore it." The boy stood there and shook his head. I stood there astonished at his response, knowing full well what consequences may come forth. If anything were to happen to them, my past self would suffer more trauma than ever before. I couldn't bear letting my friend be taken away.
"Williams, release yourself and everyone else from your hold." Past Sora yelled in anger and resentment. The battle raged on; the others jumped into combat against the army, while Leo, Sora and Reagan were fighting together against the madman known as Ryder Williams. I stood there and just watched. What could I do? Oblivion magic is unbelievably potent, to the point where I become borderline insane when I use too much mana.
However, Williams was in an entirely new category of magic. Being in his presence was chilling to the bone. Was he holding back the entire time he fought me and Leo?"Reagan, cast that spell now. That should at least take him down." The blond-haired sorcerer nodded and gathered enough energy to unleash the most powerful spell in his arsenal.
A huge glowing circle appeared beneath us as an ethereal, bluish mist filled the surroundings. Everyone looked down in awe at this massive array, not having a clue how to deal with it. "BLOOD KNIGHT: CRY OF 1000 SOULS!"
Red energy surged out of the array and exploded, covering the whole battlefield in a mass of scarlet flames. The heat caused sweat to seep out of our pores as the smell of burning bodies surrounded us. Reagan was nowhere to be seen, as he had sacrificed his life to eliminate this demon. The heat from the blast destroyed everything in its radius: the monsters, the ground, and even parts of the castle town. Williams, on the other hand, still remained unscathed after taking such a devastating blow. In that moment, I realized why Future Sora went after me instead of Williams. He knew that the Voidwalker was capable of much more than he was showing in our fight 2 years ago.
I decided that it would be best if I just reset and started from the beginning, and this time I would go for myself rather than Williams. That would be for the best for Leo, for Remi, and for everyone else.
"Why don't you give it up, Sora?" Williams asked mockingly, clearly disappointed with the outcome. "There are better people in this universe who deserve better lives than you. You're not as perfect or powerful as you think. You are a terrible excuse for a hero, someone that I wish I could throw off a cliff."
Williams was right: I am a poor excuse of a hero; I'm not even a hero anymore. All I feel is emptiness, unfulfillment, and disgust for the things that I have done. "You're right, Williams. I am pathetic; I don't serve any purpose on this planet other than destruction and chaos. That is what I was created for, and that is the only thing I have ever done." I walked away into a portal I created that sent me back to the start. This time, I'll make sure to kill myself rather than attempt to go for Williams since he has some hidden power that he never used.
After traveling through the wormhole and arriving at the start of the story once again, I made sure to eliminate any and all chances of a happy ending with me and the others. With every choice and decision I made, I brought destruction to the entire universe. Even if it cost me everything that I had worked hard for, I wasn't going to let myself continue existing and cause others to suffer because of my mistakes. This wasn't revenge; it wasn't some twisted form of payback either. This time I wouldn't let my rage consume me; that was the inevitable downfall of the previous timeline. With each timeline reset, the outcome became worse and worse.
Every time I would kill someone innocent, causing havoc to those I didn't mean to affect, I would cause Remi to leave and go away to distant places, never coming back. These choices resulted in many terrible things occurring simultaneously. As a result, I finally realized that this whole plan was flawed in design and purpose. The only goal I ever wanted in life was to live happily and peacefully with others, and if it required the sacrifice of others, then I would gladly accept that outcome.
