009- Getting Emancipated.

7:30 AM THE NEXT MORNING.

After denim came back from his morning run, The girls were still sleeping and there was no sign of them waking up anytime soon. Denim went in for a shower, dressed up and went out of the house.

" I'm going to the New Jersey Lincoln Law Firm" I said to the driver, it's time for the next big move and immediately I put a call through to uncle g whose work place I was going to.

"Hey Uncle G I've decided on something and I think it would be the next best thing for me to do"

" And what is that"

" I want to get emancipated and I need your help"

" WHAT!!! Den think twice about this, you'll be all alone"

" I AM ALL ALONE!!! already" I screamed emotionally

" so it doesn't change anything" I continued

" you know you don't have to do this right"

" I want to do it and I need your help, I promise it's the best thing for me now" I replied

" Okay come over to my work place, we'll go over to the family court together and get it done but promise me something"

" what"

"Even though you get emancipated, I'll still be your uncle, whenever you've got problems or you want to make major decisions call me directly please den if you go to jail your dad will haunt me"

" I hear you uncle g, I'll keep up"

" Okay come over"

About an hour later I got to his work place and after exchanging pleasantries we went down to the family court in his car. When we got to the court there was first the issue of me being a little too young for emancipation probably because I was not even 15 yet but somehow Uncle G got that settled and we were allowed to file in for the case. I was told to comeback by the 2 of February which was just a week away with Uncle G who was my lawyer. After we were done I was about to flag a taxi but uncle insisted he took me home instead he wanted to see where I was staying and I agreed.

Immediately I got home, I was greeted by the marvelous smell of food and immediately I knew there was chicken involved, Uncle G was with me and his nose kept twitching as well probably secretly wafting the scent in.

" So you live here now uh" he asked and I looked at him with a scrutinizing gaze this man was acting sus as he was not one to ask a stupid question. Basically that question was too stupid for a lawyer who was a shareholder at a law firm but I answered anyways.

" uhm I guess....I wouldn't exactly come in if I wasn't living here right?" I replied not letting off a chance to let him know the oddity of his question.

" Hey Den I know you're back, where did you go without even leaving a message"

"I'm an adult Okay, I can take care of myself so you don't have to be worried"

"Shut the fuck up you're a kid"

" Alana no F words!!!" Alicia screamed

" Argh whatever food is done, den pls help us get water from the mall" Alana said while bringing out the filled plates into the dining immediately she came out she stood still for a while before speaking.

" uhm He didn't do it" she said and my mouth went wide open.

" I can tell you sir he's really a good kid, I can even testify at the court sir trust me he's probably not the one" she continued explaining frantically and with a tired gaze I retorted.

" what the heck are you talking about....he's my uncle!!!"

" Oh I thought you was in trouble" she said before turning to uncle Gilbert.

" Good evening sir uhm I'm sorry for the odd impression..... he can be stubborn at times so I thought he went off causing trouble....My Name is Alana by the way and my little sister in the kitchen is called Alicia" She introduced herself under the awkward atmosphere.

" My name is Gilbert and words can not really fully convey how much appreciation I feel for you accommodating him. You're a good woman and thanks for taking care of him. As for the earlier situation I quite understand you even though he looks and act gentle nowadays he was a very troublesome lad. His dad God bless his beautiful soul used to spank him alot back in the day. I was his dad's best friend and we were one of the best black and white buddies in the whole of NJ" He explained with a grateful smile on his face.

"I wanted to turn him away at first as I have this anxiety and fear of having strangers around but on the night of his first day with us was when I understood that he was just another lovely soul fighting to stay afloat in this stormy world and I didn't want to be the reason he sank and now I basically don't even want him to go again" she said with intense emotions evident in her eyes.

" Sir you can join us for food" she muttered and everyone of us turned toward the dining and our mouths went wide open. The usually composed Alicia was already there wolfing down her food without even paying any attention to what was even going on. When she noticed us staring at her she was embarrassed.

" Uhm.....s...yar my n..ame ish Alicia" she said with alot of food still in her mouth.

We all laughed but Alana was laughing a little bit too hard trying to make the situation more embarrassing for Alicia.

" Alana it's okay" she retorted prompting Alana who was still laughing while everybody had stopped laughing to stop herself.

When Gilbert saw the food on the table he knew it would hardly be enough for these young souls so he decided against staying for food not that he would even if the food was enough by the ways.

"Yea I think I'll be on my way, and girls thanks for being there for him. I really appreciate you guys are the lights in his world now thanks a lot"

"Okay Bye Mr Gilbert" Both girls said.

" Okay girls take care of yourselves and pls can I borrow den for a minute"

" He's all yours sir" Alana replied

Den let's have a word outside" He said and I followed him outside as I also had some things to discuss with him.

" Byeeeee Mr Gilbert" Alana said from inside the house again while both Gilbert and denim had stepped out of the house.
