Training

" Waky waky eggs and baky," a voice said from above me.

I didn't even bother opening my eyes as I said back " go away it's too early to wake up ".

It was quiet for a moment or two before a bucket of ice-cold water was thrown on top of me.

I jolted up sputtering and coughing " what the hell "?

I turned to see Zane standing there grinning down at me.

" Get dressed I left your clothes on your dresser.

Before I could get up and kick his but he was already out the door. I turned towards the dresser to grab my phone to check what time it was. The light from the phone blinded me at first but when my eyes adjusted I saw the time read 3:50.

I cursed Zane under my breath " who the h**l gets up this early "?

Don't get me wrong I'm a morning person but four that's a little too early even for me. I debated if I should get up or not but then decided that I should because I didn't want him to drop another bucket on me. So I got up took a quick shower before grabbing everything I need and placing everything I didn't in my bag.

Including the note that came with the wand, I assume it is from the person or people who gave me the wand but I don't want to worry about it. Because as I've learned in life if someone gives you something they expect something in return. At the moment I really don't have anything or anytime at the moment to give.

I pulled on the clothes they gave me which were all black before I braided my hair. Once that was done I grabbed the stuff I put out and made my way to the library. Mr. Lorsin wanted to practice in a place that I won't have any distractions in.

Plus he didn't want any of the new Hunters to get hit by my magic. I still don't think a library is a good place to practice magic but that's just me. When I got to the library Mr. Lorsin and Zane were arguing I leaned back against the door frame and watched the show.

" I told you to wake her up not drop a bucket of water on her ".

He rolled his eyes " I don't see what's the big deal is Dad ".

He sighed " the big deal is she doesn't have to help us son and you doing stuff like that ".

He opened his mouth as if to argue when his eyes locked on mine and narrowed.

" How long have you been there "?

His father frowned at him " ignore my son Sapphire how are you this morning "?

I ignored both of them as I looked around the room we were in. It was easy to see that this room used to be well used but it hasn't been in a long time. We were in the middle of the library and you could see it was meant to be a sitting room. There were all different types of chairs that someone could sit and read in.

There were also tables with lamps and piles of books on them but if you looked closely you could see the layers of dust on them. Three stone steps lead up to a half-circle ledge and instead of books, there were ancient scrolls. One of the scrolls was laid open on the table but the text was in a different language so I couldn't read it.

On either side of the sitting room was a maze of bookcases and on those shelves were books covered in layers of dust. That wasn't the only thing though there were also Demon Hunter artifacts in display cases on the shelves. On the walls were paintings of past Demon Hunters and under the paintings were open display cases.

I walked to the closest one and ran my fingertip along the top of the wand.

" So what happened you guys decided to close this place after you lost your casting ability ".

I heard Mr. Lorsin sighed " the council at the time thought it was the best ".

I turned to him with a frown " and what the leader at the time just let them lock your history up ".

He shook his head at me " you don't understand the memory of what we lost was just too painful ".

I felt anger flare inside of me and I got in his face " I lost my parents Mr. Lorsin, I watched them get ripped apart by demons and then chose to forget it because the memories were painful. But while I chose to forget their death I still remembered them, you all chose to forget your whole history a history that probably could have prevented the war. Do you or anyone else even know-how to read these books because I have a feeling they're in a totally different language ".

He opened and closed his mouth before he said.

" The ones who have been studying ruin casting might ".

I nodded " tell them to come in here and study the books and scrolls, this library is now officially open, and if the council has a problem with that tell them they can come talk to me. Also, tell the ones whos looking through the books to look for a translater and to teach everyone who isn't training. If they aren't training there learning how to read the books and scrolls if they aren't doing that there training, this is a war start acting like it ".

Zane and Mr. Lorsin exchanged a look before Mr. Lorsin smiled and nodded.

" LOWIK " Zane yelled at the top of his lungs.

A scrawny old man with owl glasses appeared from the right side of the maze of books and bowed. His hair was gray and kinda frayed, his eyes brown, a pointed nose, thin lips, a frail build, and he was wearing something an old professor would wear.

Zane grinned at him before gesturing at me " I would like you to meet Sapphire, Lowik she just opened up the library and she wants all the new Demon Hunters to learn how to read all these books and scrolls when they aren't training ".

Lowik turned to me and looked me up and down studying me.

" The council won't like this," he told me.

I snorted " if they want my help they better learned to like it ".

He was quiet for a moment before he said " your Raven's niece aren't you ".

I nodded " how did you know "?

He chuckled " your Uncle Raven was as mischievous as can be, he might of been born with a sickness but he didn't let it slow him down. He once stole some of the healer's ingredients and placed them in the soup, once they were mixed together by the cook they caused an explosion and the whole kitchen was covered in that night's dinner. Of course, whenever he got he was forced to clean up the mess he made, and if they told him that they didn't like the way he cleaned it he would say if you want my help you better learn to like it. It was as if he forgot he made the mess himself ".

I laughed " really he's so serious ".

Lowik frowned " yes the banishment helped him sobber up real fast ".

Before I could respond to what he said Mr. Lorsin touched my arm.

" Sapphire we should start training ".

I debated whether I should argue but decided against it and instead said " sure I still don't get why we're doing it in the library though ".

Mr. Lorsin chuckled "were not were going to train under the library ".

He didn't elaborate as he walked to the three steps and stopped right in front of them. He placed his foot on the top step and said.

" Ralamac wakeel haneen ".

I heard the sound of stone grounding on stone and I watched as the stone steps shifted downwards. He walked down the steps not waiting to see if me or Zane would follow. When Zane followed him down there I got in step with him.

There were balls of fire hovering five feet from each other on each side of the stairway. On the wall below where the balls of fire hovered were what I assumed the fire charm is. Once we reached the end of the stairway we ended up in an underground training room. I set my stuff down near the entrance we just came in as I asked.

" What are we going to do first "?

" We'll try hand to hand combat first you and Zane will fight each other " Mr. Lorsin told me.

Zane grinned " don't worry Sapphire I'll go easy on you ".

I just smirked at him and put up my fists, he did the same and we started circling each other. He probably expected me to attack first but I just kept circling. When I saw the tic in his jaw I knew he had finally got impatient so when he lunged at me I was ready.

I ducked under his arm before spinning around and planting my foot at the bottom of his back. Since he was already off-balance from the lunge he did I was able to send him to the floor.

Mr. Lorsin chuckled " it's been a long time since I've seen someone best, you Zane you are getting quite soft ".

He grunted " beginners luck ".

He then pushed himself back up and we went back to circling each other. It wasn't long before I saw another tick in his jaw telling me he was about to lung. This time as I ducked under his I grabbed the arm he was using to punch me forcibly bringing it behind his back. Then I kicked the back of his knees causing him to fall to his knees.

He tried to struggle out of my grip so I applied pressure to the arm I had behind his back and he froze.

" Let me go before you break my arm " he growled irritated I could tell he wasn't used to being beat in a fight.

I released him instantly which would have caused him to faceplant if he hadn't caught himself. He pushed himself up and instantly attacked me. I saw it coming though and was able to get out of the way of his and then elbowed him in the side.

I heard the breath rush out of him but it wasn't enough to send him to the ground because he had already spun around and was about to attack me again when his father stopped him.

" That's enough Zane why don't you go back up and help Andrew train new Demon Hunters ".

He looked like he wanted to argue but at his father's glare he spun around and stomped up the stairs. When he was far enough not to hear us Mr. Lorsin turned to me and asked.

" Where did you learn "?

I grinned at him " street fighting it was the easiest way to make a quick buck how did you know "?

" It said it all in the familiarity of your form if Zane would have paid attention he would have known that, if you ask me he's getting soft because he thinks no one can beat him. Anyways we should skip to ruin casting ".

I nodded and grabbed the book and my wand from my stuff and opened the book to the first page. The ruin took up most of the page and under it read water.

" Ok, so it say I need to draw the ruin exactly as I see it into the air ".

He gestured for me to continue so I slowly a triangle and then a mirror one underneath it before closing them within a circle. A light blue symbol appeared in the air before fading.

" I don't understand why is nothing happening," Mr. Lorsin asked with irritation.

" Because her powers were trapped inside by her parents before they died, you'll need a witch to unlock them," a voice said from behind me.

I turned around and saw Pink behind me, she was glaring at Mr. Lorsin. For some reason, I have a feeling that she doesn't like him when I looked back at Mr. Lorsin he had a dark and menacing look. As soon as it had appeared though it had disappeared so I was not sure if it was actually there or if I had imagined it.

He was frowning at her now as he said " we don't know many witches ".

She grinned at him " well I do but she doesn't like most people so me and Sapphire will go alone ".

Before he could even respond she was already pulling me out of the room while handing me my backpack and a weapons bag. I slipped the ruin book and my wand into my bookbag. She pulled me through the front room and everyone had paused in what they're doing.

Including Zane who was looking at me with a question in his eyes but before he could ask Pink had already pulled me out the front doors.

" Sooo why do I have a feeling you don't like Mr. Lorsin ".

" I don't trust him as far as I can throw him which probably isn't too far " was all she said.

Zane's

I frowned as I watched Pink and Sapphire walk out of our headquarters. Everyone training in the front room had stopped what they were doing and stared after them as they walked out the door. I turned to Andrew with a question in my eyes but before I could say anything my father walked up to us and barked out.

" Zane, Andrew, Keys follow them ".

Before any of us could even respond my father was already out of sight storming in the direction of his office. Andrew was looking at me with a question in his eyes as if I would know why my father was acting so out of character. Before I could say anything though a voice interrupted us.

" So are we going or not "?

We both turned to see Key's she is a recent Demon Hunter and dad assigned us to her to train her and for some reason, Andrew has recently started disliked her. I'm pretty sure there is some kind of history behind that anger history that happened recently. But when I asked he wouldn't tell me so I just left it alone.

So I wasn't surprised when he glared at her before turning to the door and stalking out the front door. Key's followed after his while muttering under her breathe ' Childish '. I really didn't understand where Andrew's anger was coming from I've known Andrew since he first came here when he was six.

And I have never seen him get angry at someone for no reason and never as angry as he is at Key's. Granted he's not a kid anymore at the height of 6"2', hair in a military haircut, sun-kissed skin, a crooked nose, full lips, light brown eyes, a sharp jawline, a cleft in his chin, and a lean but muscular build from all the training we did. I quickly packed up me and Andrew's stuff before running after them.

As soon as I realized neither of them was going to wait for me. When I reached Andrew I handed him his bag and we started off after Pink and Sapphire.

Sapphire's

" So where exactly are we going, " I asked Pink as we walked down the road.

" Well, first we're going to meet your friends at the place you disappeared from yesterday so I can plant a memory in their head of what happened yesterday ".

I frowned " will that hurt them "?

She shrugged " shouldn't not sure though ".

I stopped walking " what do you mean you're not sure you better be sure because if your not there is no way I am letting you do anything to my friends ".

She also stopped walking before turning to glare at me.

" I don't think you get it Sapphire if I leave your friends with no memory and they start poking around trying to find you and find out what's going on and then they could end up getting severely hurt or worse dead so I'm going to place a memory in there head no matter if you approve or not ".

Before I could even reply she had already spun around and started walking in the direction of the cafe. I reluctantly followed her because I knew what she said was true but I still didn't like that my friends may possibly be hurt. As we were walking to keep my mind off of what might happen to my friends I started looking at the different places we passed.

We walked past different places some that I have been to before and some that I haven't. I also watched the different people that walked along without a care in the world and wondered how they didn't know the things that were happening in their own world. I was so lost in my thoughts I didn't notice we had arrived at the cafe until I was tackled into a hug and knocked to the ground.

" OH MY GOD ARE YOU OK SAPPHIRE "?

I could tell the person on top of me was Slyther because she was shouting in fear at me instead of anger like Kitty is probably about t-.

" SAPPHIRE WHERE THE H**L HAVE YOU BEEN "?

I looked up at Kitty as she stalked towards me in anger causing people around her to stare. Then they even glare at her when she pushes someone out of the way. I opened my mouth to respond to either of there questions when both of their eyes went blank.

She pulled Slyther off of me before pushing me into Zane who must have been following us with Key's and Andrew. He was able to catch and place me up right before Pink hands him a piece of paper.

" Take her to this address while I make sure these two get home safely ".

Before either of us could respond she was already walking away pulling Slyther and Kitty with her.
