Feng Hei Lang watched over Kirei as he laid on the bed in the inn. Kang Lei entered the room with a platter of food. "Is he awake yet?"
She shook her head. "Not yet. His wounds are all healed, so I don't know why he isn't waking up."
Kang Lei placed down the platter and frowned. He placed a hand on Kirei's forehead. "He could have possibly taken a lot of mental damage. Let me see what I can do."
Feng Hei Lang walked back to see a blue glow surround the both of them. Kang Lei was like that for quite a while, until he fell back, sweating. "Kirei should wake up in a bit now." He brushed back his wet strands of hair.
"What did you do?" She placed a hand against wrist to see that his pulse had stabilized.
Kang Lei grinned and ate a piece of lettuce off the platter. "Well, I simply used my ability to help speed up his brain activity. He should wake up...I think."
Feng Hei Lang looked down at Kirei who was sleeping peacefully. She grabbed her cloak from the bed and stood up. "Kang Lei, watch over Kirei. I'll head out for a bit."
He nodded and continued eating. "Sure, Hei Lang."
She quickly exited the inn outside and used [Killing Intent Sense].
Beep!
[Killing Intent Sense Level Up!]
Feng Hei Lang grinned. 'Yes! It's already at level 4, so it's the highest level for my skills right now!' She closed her eyes to see if anyone had any killing intent towards her. It seemed there was no one near her that did, but there was a set of red footprints in her vision.
She quickly followed it. 'Since my skill leveled up, this should be the set of footprints that would lead me straight towards the assassin!' Feng Hei Lang weaved through buildings and people and ended up at an alleyway. 'This is where the assassin was. But it seems I can't find them, since they don't have any killing intent towards me right now...'
She walked along the alleyway until she came across a row of warehouses. 'I better catch that assassin, I really want that evolution stone in the rewards...' Feng Hei Lang quickly entered the warehouse and scanned her surroundings. She was currently cloaked with [Camouflage] and [Presence Concealment], but that doesn't mean that she was completely invisible.
Beep!
[Camouflage Level up!]
Beep!
[Presence Concealment Level up!]
Feng Hei Lang ignored the beeps and continued scouting the warehouse. She froze when she heard some footsteps. Diving behind a barrel, Feng Hei Lang peeked out from the side to see Cha Li wrapping her wounds on the ground. "Those damn kids...They told me this mission would be easy!"
She finished binding her wounds and stood up. "I still have a few days left. As long as the trap I set in the inn works, it should be fine. And don't think I don't see you, little girl. I sensed you a while ago."
Feng Hei Lang was anxious at this point. 'Kang Lei and Kirei are still at the inn! And she has good senses, I can't beat her one-on-one!' She sneaked behind some more boxes and watched Cha Li.
The assassin frowned. "Huh...I thought there was most definitely someone here. Maybe I was mistaken..." Cha Li walked out of the warehouse.
Feng Hei Lang sighed in relief and continued tailing her. 'Oh, she was guessing that someone was there...That's good...'
However, something felt off when she turned around a corner. Cha Li wasn't there anymore and the alleyway was completely empty and quiet. Feng Hei Lang paused. 'Wait...something isn't right...why did she say little girl? If she didn't know that someone was there, she wouldn't have to known my gender. Unless this is an AMBUSH-' She jumped to the side, just in time to dodge Cha Li who jumped at her from above.
The assassin flipped back a few times, and nimbly landed on her feet. "Quick reflexes, I see."
Feng Hei Lang panted in surprise. 'I'm lucky I found out something was wrong right at that moment!' She brought out her two daggers from within her cloak.
Cha Li made a circular motion with her palm once more. "Dragon's Roar!"
Feng Hei Lang held up the black dagger to reflect the attack right back at the assassin. The sound wave echoed across the whole alleyway, but it only affected the caster.
Cha Li gasped. "What-?" She fell onto the floor, mostly paralyzed and unable to move.
Bringing her black dagger close to the assassin's neck, Feng Hei Lang walked over. "I reflected your attack. There's nothing you can do. I can reflect all your attacks."
The assassin gritted her teeth and leapt back, her legs shaking. She brought out eight needles, all of them between her fingers. Cha Li threw them at Feng Hei Lang.
Feng Hei Lang brought up a shadow barrier using [Shadow Manipulation]. She thought that they would clatter to the ground after that, however, they zoomed past her barrier as if nothing was there. She gasped and moved back. "What-" One of the needles grazed her on the cheek and Feng Hei Lang frowned.
[-1 HP]
[User has been poisoned. If user is not treated within half an hour, user will die.]
Feng Hei Lang narrowed her eyes at the assassin. "Poison?"
Cha Li had a wild grin on her face. "Lethal poison of the eltersnake. Now, you have two choices. Chase after me to kill me or go and treat your wound. I hope you make the right choice." With that, the assassin ran off into the alleyway.
