10 Dvalin Investigation Part 2

I walked slowly to aggro the Hilichurls and Mitachurls. It took them a bit to notice me… Are theses guys dumb or something? I was even in front of one of them, so how did it take them that long.

"Haah, I guess I should just finish this as fast as I could."

I swung my sword nonchalantly and a blue streak of light passed through the bodies of ten of the Hilichurls. I then created a small ball of air and threw it in the middle of all of the others. Once I was sure of it, I snapped my fingers and the ball of air suddenly sucked in all the remaining enemies.

I only came up with this when I was walking back home. This is an even more powerful version of my Palm Vortex. Although, this one is also even more tiring. Once they were all in the middle, I appeared in front of them and slashed once more. Only this time, I raised my left hand and covered myself with an Anemo shield. This vortex was swirling the flames around.

"Tsk."

They blocked it, but they were wounded. My vortex expired and dark clouds appeared above them. When the raindrops fell and hit them, their wounds healed up. I looked behind the Mitachurls and saw the Samachurl. So he's a healer huh? Are Hydro users generally healers? Wait, no that can't be. Mona was worried and yet she didn't try to heal me.

I jumped backwards and blocked the slime thrown at me with an Anemo shield. I should deal with that Samachurl first. I took a stance that suggested that I was going to do a stab. I aimed at the Samachurl and once I was sure about it, I shot my attack. Since I wasn't really that confident in making a bow yet, I decided to just launch needles from my sword.

The blue needle hit the Samachurl and even managed to hit five of the Hilichurls. Seven more to go. I decided to just finish this very quickly so I did the same thing as earlier, except this time, the slash was about three times the size of my blade. It hit the remaining enemies and they all turned to dust.

"Phew, that was tiring."

I could feel the sword growing stronger. I looked back and saw Venti with a shocked expression on his face.

"To be able to use that sword without going mad. Outlanders are scary."

I laughed awkwardly at that. I guess you could say that. Right now, there are only two Outlanders in this world. I wonder how she's been. Is she eating well? Did she find a lover? If she did find one, I'll make sure to teach that guy a lesson.

I was getting distracted so I shook my head and spoke to Venti.

"So, about calming Dvalin down… how exactly do we do that?"

"We need to find him first. I checked earlier but it seems he isn't here."

Not being in his lair? Geez, this is going to be troublesome. I used my Elemental Sight to at least get a gist of his location, but to no avail. How could something that big not be seen by the people from below?

I sighed and followed Venti to an abandoned building. It didn't quite age well as it's basically just ancient debri at this point. There was a wind barrier blocking the building so we couldn't go in. There was also a Pyro Abyss mage. Shit, I don't have Bob. Just then, my sword became imbued with Hydro. I was shocked of course. Does it recognize the previous elements that it has been imbued with?

"I'll take care of the barrier, you deal with that Abyss mage."

"Got it."

I dashed to the Abyss mage as it just noticed us. Sorry dude, but you're a bit too late. After that, I fought almost endless waves of enemies.

---

It took Venti about an hour to realize that he couldn't even deal with the barrier. Seriously, this guy.

"Let's take a break. I'm tired and you must be too."

"What do you mean you're tired?! You just stood there staring at the barrier!"

"Standing is tiring you know?"

I can't argue with that one. I took a seat and a few moments later, I laid down on the ground. I've probably already gone past my limit. The Hilichurls, Mitachurls, Samachurls, and Pyro and Cryo Abyss mages just won't stop coming. It took me a bit to defeat the Cryo Abyss mage since it was new, but I got used to it after about 2-3 battles. I also learned a new thing, the slime was fully absorbed by the sword. Maybe it was because it was attached to it for a longer period of time than the time with Bob.

Venti took out a bottle of water from his storage ring and tossed it to me. I should really buy one of those.

"Let's just glide there."

"I don't have a glider."

I didn't even have a glider. I mean, I could just use Air walk anyways. I explained this to Venti as the sun started to come down. We decided to call it a day and I was about to go home when a storm suddenly kicked in.

"Really? Now he shows up?"

I was a little annoyed since I was already way too tired. I sighed and quickly hid my sword away. I looked above us and saw Dvalin looking right at us. He was wary of me.

"Yo, Dvalin. Sorry for attacking you earlier. I was just a bit worried about this guy's safety." said Venti as he pointed at me.

Dvalin still looked wary, but somehow he calmed down and went down to us.

"Help me… old friend…" he said as he lowered his head. I could see the crystals.

I had a bad feeling from those crystals so I activated my Elemental Vision. It seems it was right for me to do that as I saw ominous energy coming from the crystals and spreading throughout his body.

"What are you doing?!"

As I was about to head close to him, a really annoying voice came from behind us. A Cryo Abyss mage. Dvalin was starting to look more aggressive.

"We told you to attack that friend of yours who be-"

"Shut up already."

I was too tired for any of this shit. Ah, I wasn't even watching my language anymore.

I summoned my sword again and appeared behind Dvalin. It would be troublesome if they both attacked me at the same time, so dealing with the more powerful one first would take a lot off my shoulders.

Alright, time to get this over with.

"I'm sorry, but this will hurt a bit."

After I said that, I quickly slashed off the crytal on his back. He screamed in agony, but I could also see a hint of relief on his face. However, he acted way more violent soon after. He shook me off and flew to the skies once more. Damnit, I thought I could finish it today.

"Calming him down was easy since we were able to do just that, but now, I think we won't have a chance if we did it again."

I nodded my head at that as I turned my gaze at the Abyss mage.

"What did you mean by 'we ordered you to attack your friend'? Who exactly are you people?"

"I have no obligation to tell you that. However as for who we are, we are the Abyss Order."

He didn't say anything else after that and tried to attack me as I knew too much. I quickly dealt with him and called it a day.

Looking back at Venti, he stared at me in a daze.

"You're pretty heartless huh?"

"Well, literate or not, they're still monsters. Since I'm an Adventurer, it's my job to exterminate them."

"I guess that's true."

After that, he told me to come here again ten days from now. It's Thursday today, so next Sunday. That sounds good enough.

And with that, we parted ways. I reported the completion of the commission by giving Katherine the card that Venti gave me. This was a way to know that the commission was truly completed and not just left alone.

After that I headed home and cooked dinner for myself. Not gonna lie, it's pretty lonely without Mona here. I've only known her for just a few days and yet I've already fallen for her. The same could be said for her though. So this is love at first sight huh.

I slept alone for the first time in ages.
