Chapter Seven | Training

When morning came and I got out of bed, Eva was still asleep. Then I started making breakfast for us. I was hoping that I could eat normal food and not survive on the flesh and blood of others.

"You don't need to worry about that Alexander." Liebe tells me.

'Figures you were reading my thoughts.'

"Hey, it's not like I purposely do it." He says, "I can just hear your thoughts as if you were talking."

'That's slightly annoying.'

"Plus there's nothing else I can do besides read your thoughts and give you advice." Liebe tells me.

'Riiiight.'

When I was talking to Liebe I could hear Eva getting up and I started dishing out breakfast.

Eva came out of her room and sat at the table.

"Good morning." I say to her.

"Morning." Eva yawns.

"How'd you sleep?" I ask her while putting breakfast on the table.

"Good, I must have passed out when we got home." She says, "You?"

"Alright." I say.

When I was sleeping I would occasionally wake up because there was a tremendous pain in my chest, but I don't want to tell her that. I'm guessing that it's an effect of < Demonic Transition > or something to do with the < System >.

"Okay! Let's eat." I say, sitting down at the table.

"Did you say anything to the girls after you got free?" I ask.

"I told them not to call the police because they would question us and possibly find out about your powers." Eva tells me, "Even though I didn't know that you had powers. I still knew that the things that happened in there should not be talked about anywhere."

"That's good." I say, "Hopefully they listened."

"They most likely didn't, in fear that you would come after them." She says, laughing a little.

"That's not very funny." I tell her.

"It's fine, I know that you won't hurt people without reason…. and you had a reason for those guys, you wanted to save me." Eva says.

I could tell that she had no fear when saying that, which made me feel a little bit at ease.

When we finished eating Eva took the dishes and started washing them.

'Liebe?'

"What's up?" He replied

'Could I be a Hunter now with the < System >?'

"Yea you probably could." Liebe said, "The reason normal people can't kill Fiends is that they're too weak, but with your < Status > just being over 300 you barely meet the lowest requirements to be one."

'Lowest requirements….'

"Yea." He says, "Plus your lack of < Skills > is also a factor."

'So I would need more < Skills > and better < Status >.'

'I have an idea.'

I head into my room, go to the closet, and move the clothes in front of a small safe. I put in the code and take out a handgun and two daggers.

"Eva I'm going out for a while." I tell her, "Lock the door and don't open it for anyone. If someone knocks on the door, call me right away."

"Okay." She replies, "Where are you going though?"

"Back to the warehouse." I say. When I said that her fear spiked, "It's going to be okay."

When I said that her fear went down again.

'I just hope it really will be okay.'

"Remember to lock the door." I tell her as I walk out, "I'll come back tonight."

"Bye." Eva said, sounding a bit sad.

"Cya later." I say.

'I may not like it, but those bodies will help raise my < Status >'

"Are you really prepared to do that?" Liebe asks.

'Yea, but I don't know if that demon will come into the light and that's what I worried about.'

"I think it should be fine, nothing living will be around you." He says.

I started heading to the warehouse district and could tell that someone was following me, but I continued walking till I made it into the District.

I started looking around and could see a yellow figure behind a couple of warehouses away.

'They're not hostile, so what do they want?'

"I know you've been following me, what do you want." I shout.

The figure starts to run away and I start running after them, but my < Spectral Sight > wears off.

"I bet you'll see them again." Liebe says.

'Yea, you're most likely right.'

I headed to the warehouse where Eva was being kept. When I open it up a wave of chemicals hits me. I walk inside and the whole place has been through a deep clean. All the bodies, blood, and everything related to the massacre are gone.

'What the hell! How could anyone know what happened here and why would they clean it up?!'

"Maybe the person who was following you was involved?" Liebe suggests.

'Possibly.'

'Liebe is there any shopping features to the < System >?'

"Yea, it's called < Market >." He says, "You'll need < Gold > to buy stuff though, you should have gotten some from the quest and killing the Betrayers." Liebe tells me, "There's also an inventory, but it's known as < Bag >."

'Well that's nice to know.'

"You should also check out your < Character Sheet >." He says.

'Yea, I'm good.'

"Yea, some of them even repair themselves." He says

The dummy materializes in front of me when I use the bag.

I step back a bit and grab my gun from my waist and start shooting it in the head and chest. Bullet holes covered it and as the name said, the dummy started pushing out the bullets and repairing itself. I started shooting it again till I ran out of bullets and it was repaired in seconds again.

'This was probably a waste of bullets because I should be learning < Skills >. Nice to know that my aim is the same though, it's been a while since I used a gun.'

'Now let's try something new.'

'< Ignite >'

I used < Ignite > on the gun and pulled the trigger. A fire bullet shot out and engulfed the dummy in flames, burning the entire thing to ash.

'Shit!'

Like before the dummy started repairing itself again.

'That scared me, I didn't think it would repair.'

I continue shooting the dummy till my < Spirit Points > run out. I had destroyed it 18 times with < Fire Bullet > and two times with normal bullets, then a screen popped up.

My whole body started feeling numb, it was hard for me to breathe, and I collapsed to one knee.

I sat down, closed my eyes, and crossed my legs. It was like < Dark Meditation > was moving my body so I could use the Skill. I could feel my < Spirit Points > regenerating and it was so calming. Soon I was able to breathe normally again and opened my eyes.

I uncross my legs and stand up.

My handgun disappeared and I looked over at the < Bag > screen, seeing an icon of my gun.

'So it can store normal items too.'

Next, I walk up to the dummy and grab my daggers from my back.

I light both my daggers on fire and you think the flames from hell would melt them, but they didn't.

I start attacking the dummy with my daggers, which burn it where I slice it. After around 10 minutes the flames on my daggers died out.

I grinded for a couple more hours just igniting, slicing, shooting, and meditating. Before I knew it was dark out.

"That's enough." I say catching my breath, "I need to head home, Eva's probably worried."

The dummy started to vanish and appeared on the < Bag > screen.

'Even though I didn't say the full name of the item, it still went into the bag. I should keep it with me so someone doesn't take it or find it.'

I started heading back to the apartment and could sense the same person following me. I turned around and knew where they were from < Alert >.

I started walking towards their location and could tell that they were walking away, then their presents were gone.

'They have < Stealth >!'

'< Spectral Sight >'

I can see that they're running down the warehouses and have an idea how to catch up.

'< Blink >'

I teleported directly behind them and grabbed their shirt, which caused us both to fall to the ground, and their < Stealth > was disabled.

I removed their hood and saw that it was a little girl.

"Who are you!" I shouted at her, "Why are you following me and what do you want!"

"M-m My name is Zoe!" She screams, "I was sent to watch you!"

"By who." I ask her sternly. I was starting to feel her fear.

"Monica!" She continued to scream, trying to crawl away.

'The paramedic?'

"I was also told to give you something!" Zoe says, still screaming.

"Calm down, I'm not going to hurt you." I tell her and immediately regretted saying that because the joy from her fear was going away.

"H-here." She says, handing me a paper, "Monica said your's must have been ruined after yesterday."

When she said "Yesterday" her fear started making me feel amazing, but that also means she was there. She saw that something took over my body and what that demon did in it.

"You were there in < Stealth >." I say.

"Y-yes." She says with her fear rising.

I backed away hoping to make her feel safer, which started to work.

"Did Monica take the bodies?" I ask.

"Yes, she did." Zoe told me.

"Were you watching me train today too?" I ask her.

"Yes, I was." She said.

"Listen you gave me the paper and now you can go back to Monica." I tell her.

"Okay." She replies and starts running away.

I looked at the paper and saw an address and some words next to it.

The paper read;

"2525 Chicago Ave, Starz Café.

Don't Forget the Times You've Written Down Your Name in Blood."

'What the fuck is this?!'

The address is a coffee shop next to the hospital Monica should work at.

I got back up and started heading home. When I finally got home and went inside Eva had fallen asleep on the couch. I look over to the table and see that she made dinner and didn't eat herself.

'She must have been waiting for me.'

I kneel next to her and shake her gently.

"Eva, wake up." I tell her.

"Come on, let's eat." I told her as she started to wake up.

"Yea." She says smiling.
