Death and the Devil

What happens when someone from our world gets a chance to be reincarnated in the world of Shinigamis. Much less, with his sudden luck the man got all the powers of Vergil Sparda from Devil May Cry 5. Will the adventures in this world pose any challenge to him? (Spoiler alert, NO!) Let's see what changes, this unstoppable powerhouse will bring to this world. Fair warning: As you can see, this won't be a weak to strong MC trope. TBH I'm tired of reading same thing over and over. So, if you're not a fan of OP MC, this is not for you. While I can't assure that everyone who reads this will enjoy it. I will try my best not to make it boring and bland. And second thing, there will be romance but it will be no-harem. The pairing is: Yoruichi X Vergil. Being absolutely clear, I won't be throwing the FML onto the ML like they were some separated lovers from past lives. Their relationship will gradually develop, but it won't be a slow burn either. Mature Rating: M17+. Blood, gore and violence. Possible future R18 content. Reader discretion is advised. Chapter 4: Haha...... Nice Joke !

A/N: Hello, hello... Author here... So, there's a bit of lore drop in this chapter. There's some stuff that I've made up myself, so, don't start tweaking when it doesn't match your knowledge of cannon on both DMC and Bleach Universe.

Don't worry though, it won't affect the main story, it's just a way for me to connect the Demon Realm in DMC universe with the Hell from Bleach universe.

See you next chapter

Enjoy........ !!!

The next day, Visoreds were recovering inside Urahara's shop. Shinji, Urahara, Kensei and Hachigen were playing cards, while sitting in a circle.

Hiyori was lying down next to them. Love, Rojuro and Mashiro were back in their base.

"So, ready to talk about yesterday's 'event'?" Urahara asked, looking at the five who had just managed to forget yesterday's beatings.

"Don't!" Hiyori remarked. "I'd rather not. Tsk…" She added in displeasure.

"Who is he anyways?" Kensei asked and thought, 'Not just defeating us. He outclassed us in every aspects. I doubt I would have made a difference, even if I'd transformed.'

"Well you already know his name. But I only have a half speculation about 'what' he is. Only thing I can tell for now, is that he doesn't seem to be our enemy." Urahara replied.

"Also, did you guys notice? He adapted to the effects of my Shikai, mid fight. And that spectral form he summoned; it packs quite a punch." Shinji spoke as he clutched the side of his stomach.

Looking around himself, Hachigen spoke, "Umm… Where have Yoruichi-san and Lisa-san gone to?"

It was Hiyori, who replied, "Lisa found something strange near the Tokyo Bay. I don't know why she was there in the first place, but since all of us were not in 'shape', this morning. She asked Yoruichi-san for assistance."

"Why am I being told about this, just now?" Urahara chimed in a confused tone.

"Yoruichi-san tried to wake you up! But your stupid a** was asleep like there was no tomorrow. Now, no more questions!" She replied.

Vergil's home:

Vergil was busy doing some monthly finance calculations. When Griffon suddenly appeared on his shoulder.

"Yo boss! We might have a slight problem." The bird awkwardly said.

"Stop making it sound dramatic and start explaining." Vergil replied still concentrated on his calculations.

He could finish such trivial calculations in matter of seconds, but doing it slowly felt somehow normal and relaxing. 'I'm acting like an old man now… Sigh… Whatever.' He thought to himself.

Griffon started explaining, "Well, back in demon realm when Shadow and I were having our beauty sleep, we sensed a demonic summoning, the summoning link was connected to this world."

Vergil stopped what he was doing. 'Now, that's problematic. As far as I know, this world didn't have enough demonic activity to have link to that realm.'

"Unless someone got their hands on a pre-linked sigil." He muttered which was heard by Griffon.

"Oy, oy… A Sigil assigned demon? They're quite the pesky kind, aren't they? So, what do you think?

If it's the humans playing around with a demonic sigil, you know they're already as good as dead." Griffon spoke.

Vergil had already expanded his senses, trying to sense demonic energy. He finally found something near the Tokyo Bay.

It felt very familiar to him that he seemed surprised. 'Yeah I forgot, despite there being countless universes, there is only one demon realm or hell, thus it is infinite.

I wonder if I can travel to other worlds using the Demon Realm as the link.' He thought and opened his eyes.

"Found our little guest. And it seems like some of our 'friends' are already there." He spoke.

"Huh? Friends? As far as I know, you're destined to die alone. Well that's besides the existence of Nero and your unknown wife, but then again, you never talk about her." The bird started mumbling to himself.

"You know I'm in the mood for some demonic meat. And I remember the demonic birds tasting very good, when I lived there." Vergil spoke loud and clear.

Griffon immediately avoided the topic, "A… Ahem… Can you tell me the location of that summoning, I'll meet you there with shadow."

Vergil chuckled and replied, "Go to the western part of Tokyo Bay. You'll sense it once you go close enough."

"Your loyal bird, over and out." Griffon did a salute and then disappeared from the room.

An abandoned building near the Naka ward, Western region of Tokyo Bay.

Inside the building, Yoruichi in her cat form was walking along with Lisa. "So, you've been keeping contact with humans." Yoruichi spoke to the girl.

"Well… I couldn't keep avoiding her, when she was so eager to share her interests." She replied in an embarrassed tone.

"You and your love for BL's." Yoruichi remarked.

Lisa didn't seem much flustered when the cat mentioned BL's, she looked proud even.

"And this was the place, where she was seen last time?" Yoruichi asked.

"Yes. Her mother contacted me and seemed very worried. Yesterday, I sensed some strange presence here.

It almost felt similar to that man Vergil. So, I thought it would be better to ask someone for help." Lisa replied.

"Well, it's better than vaulting in alone, especially if you don't know what it is." Yoruichi replied.

She was about to ask something else, when her nose caught a familiar scent, 'Blood.' She became alerted.

"Lisa quick, follow me." She spoke and started running to the upper floors.

When they finally reached the hall of one of the upper floors, both of them were wide eyed, seeing the gruesome scene before them.

It was a pile of dead and mangled humans, at least a dozen. And half of whom seemed to be teenagers, highschoolers probably.

All of them had one thing in common though, they had a screaming face of sheer horror and had empty eye sockets.

A girl in her school uniform was sitting against a wall just behind the pile of dead-bodies. Whom Lisa recognized as soon as she saw her.

"Kana!" She called and ran towards her. Lisa was fearing for the worst but fortunately, she seemed alive.

She had an almost negligible pulse. "She's alive!" She called out to Yoruichi.

The cat ran towards them, while Lisa spoke, "Still, who or what could have done this?"

Yoruichi as soon as she got near, sensed something and shouted, "Lisa, get back!!"

Lisa was quick enough that she avoided a jab with a sharp claw, that went right past her neck.

They both stared at the bloodied girl, who was now standing up with her eyes red and her nails extended in a gruesome way, her body contorted a bit and most importantly a creepy and wide smile plastered on her face.

"You!" The girl pointed at Lisa and spoke in a gruffy, reverberating sound.

"You're not a human. What are you?" She asked again.

"We should be the ones asking that, no?" Yoruichi replied.

"No one is talking to you, cat." The girl replied in a slightly offended tone.

Yoruichi tightened her jaw as her claws extended out in anger, the only thing stopping her from ripping this girl apart, was that the girl wasn't in control of herself.

It was then, that they heard another mocking voice, "My, my, what a mess you've made."

It was a bird with black feathers and glowing blue patterns. Before they could say anything else, they heard a roar, "GRRRR!!!"

A big black panther with glowing red eyes, jumped from behind and pinned the seemingly possessed girl, down.

"Wait shadow. It's just a human, that cowardly basta*d could never come here in his real form." The bird spoke and the panther loosened her grip.

Lisa was about to dash forward and free the girl, when the bird appeared in front of them, "Wait, wait. She might just be a human, but she's still possessed by that demon."

"First of all, what? And second of all, who the hell are you?" Lisa asked with a frown.

"The name's Griffon. I believe you're acquainted with my boss. I've already seen you though, stalker cat." Griffon turned towards Yoruichi.

"You're with Vergil?" Yoruichi asked.

"Yeah, he makes us work for him. Doesn't pay us or anything. Still, as demons with big hearts, we give him our generous support." Griffon replied in a smug tone.

"You! What are you doing in this world? Sparda's lapdogs. Traitors!" The 'girl'/demon screeched at them as she struggled to get free from Shadow's claws.

"Pretty big mouth for a fool who couldn't even protect the title of king, that was basically spoon fed to him. Isn't that right, King' Paimon?" Griffon smirked and spoke in a mocking tone.

"Wait? This means that one of Sparda's son is here too… No… I have to… have to warn them." The demon muttered to himself.

As soon as he did, there was suddenly a bright flash in the room and a cross shaped portal opened out of nowhere.

It was none other than Vergil, who walked out of the portal as he sheathed the Yamato. He looked at the two Ex-Shinigamis and spoke, "I owe you an explanation. But before that, let me deal with this pest first."

He turned to Paimon, who had possessed the girl. "What is one of the 72 generals doing here?" He asked in an intrigued voice.

"72!!! 72!!!... How dare you, spawn of Sparda? There are only 5 of us remaining. All because of the rampage, you and your dammed brother ensued." The demon roared.

"And you still refuse to acknowledge one of the brothers as your king and do as you are told." Griffon remarked.

"Hell shall turn upside-down before that happens, stupid bird!!!" Paimon shouted.

"Ugh… Too loud." Vergil remarked and walked towards the possessed girl.

"Hehehe… You can't send me back without killing this girl. Can you do that, seed of Sparda?" Paimon asked with a grin.

Griffon commented from the side, "Hate to break it to you buddy. You must be thinking about the one in red jacket.

This one here doesn't give a sh*t."

"Wait, you can't kill her." Lisa called out to Vergil, who just turned around and gave a reassuring smile.

"I don't need to." He said and unsheathed his blade.

"That sword! Yamato… S**T!" The demon exclaimed before Vergil just tapped the girl's forehead with his sword and she immediately fell unconscious.

Vergil turned around and spoke, "She doesn't have any fatal injuries. Though, she might need some time to recover, because of all the stress her body was put through."

Lisa nodded and both she and Yoruichi seemed like they wanted to ask several questions. Vergil just sighed and spoke, "I'll fill you on everything once I've dealt with him."

He turned around and slashed the air with Yamato, opening the same portal again. But it was to the demonic world this time.

"Wait boss. Killing one of the remaining Generals could pose a lot of consequences." Griffon called out.

"Letting him live would be a lot worse than that. After all, his sigil has already been connected to this world." Vergil replied.

"Yeah, that. I forgot about it. And he can come here anytime he wants to." Griffon confirmed.

"Where exactly are you going, right now?" Yoruichi replied.

"The demon realm. Or hell, as you like to call it." Vergil replied and walked in, then the portal closed behind him.

'Wait hell? But wasn't it completely sealed or something? Tsk, nothing is making sense with this man. Well, he did say that he would answer our questions, so that's that.' Yoruichi thought to herself.

"Ah, I don't know what you guys are waiting for. But you might wanna take that girl to a hospital or something." Griffon spoke, bringing the two seemingly stunned individuals back to their senses.

Sometime later

Urahara's shop:

Lisa and Yoruichi had brought the girl to Kisuke, because he was the one who could help her without any legal complications that would occur in a hospital.

The local authorities were anonymously informed about the dead-bodies and now it was up to them, to inform their relatives and make some reasonable explanations for it.

Urahara and the others listened to Yoruichi's and Lisa's explanations. The Visoreds seemed somewhat doubtful, but Urahara was intrigued more than anything.

Hiyori was silently listening to them, while looking at the two strange creatures, who called themselves demons too, and were resting on one corner of the room.

"Why don't we ask them for proper answers?" She suddenly spoke, pointing towards Griffon and Shadow.

Griffon then spoke, "As much as I'd love to indulge in your Q&A's. I think it'd be better if Vergil tells you everything.

There are a lot of things even about us that we don't know, but he does. And… speak of the devil…" He looked at the door to the room, which slid open and entered none other than the man in question.

"Is Paimon dead or?" Griffon asked and Vergil nodded.

"So, any juicy details he shared, before you offed him." He asked.

"Some, but let's start from the beginning, shall we?" He looked at the others.

He wasn't of course going to tell them everything, but just the things related to today's events.

"Then let's start with the age-old question." Yoruichi spoke and continued, "What are you?"

"I don't know if you're familiar with the term, but I'm what you'd call a Cambion." Vergil replied.

Griffon was surprised that his boss wasn't troubled sharing this detail anymore, and seeing some of their confused faces, Griffon added, "A birth from the unholy matrimony of a Devil and a Human."

Vergil raised his eyebrows and looked at the elated bird but didn't say anything.

"Wait, so you're a half devil half human hybrid? Cool." Shinji commented a bit surprised.

"My personal details aside, what we encountered today was one of the Devils, that the girl had managed to summon." Vergil spoke.

Urahara then spoke, "As far as I know. The Demon Realm or Hell, has been sealed for thousands of years. How did a normal human manage to summon a Devil?" He pondered to himself.

"Contrary to what people believe, it is actually easier to summon stronger devils than the weaker ones. Because they are assigned a conduit, a sigil to be precise.

So, I believe the girl must have somehow gotten her hands on Paimon's sigil. We won't know much of why or how she managed to do it, before she wakes up." He spoke.

"Paimon as in, one of the 72 demons who hold the lesser keys of Solomon?" Hachigen asked.

"You know about it?" Hiyori asked.

"I might have trespassed in the restricted section of the grand-library back in soul-society." He replied as he scratched his head.

"You could have been executed for that; you know." Kensei spoke, patting his shoulder .

Hachigen just awkwardly laughed.

"There are a lot of things that Soul-Society wants to forget or bury down forever. The details about the Hell, is one of them.

What we all are being told today is a secret way above our paygrade. So, I hope everyone is aware of that." Yoruichi suddenly spoke, gaining an approving nod from everyone who was present.

They all looked at Vergil, who continued, "I chased Paimon back to the demon realm. He was frantic about wanting to inform about my presence in this world to the others.

I ended him before that of course, but he also shared something interesting."

"You're not from this world, are you? Even that demon, Paimon seemed confused about your presence here. He wasn't expecting you to be here." Yoruichi said to him.

Vergil nodded and replied, "Long ago, I did something stupid and caused demons to invade our world.

But my younger brother managed to stop the invasion and we both went to the demon realm, deciding to end the fight once and for all.

We killed 67 of the demon generals including Lucifer, but the remaining five pleaded to us that they would stop their actions once and for all.

That's why we made a deal. We'd leave them alone and they'd leave our world alone. Dante went back home, and I came to this world."

"Wait, wait… Lucifer as in, the Lucifer… is dead?" Shinji asked in surprise, but was ignored.

"So then, why have they started doing it again?" Lisa asked.

"It's because the deal was for our world. Not this one. And since there is only one demon realm, the remaining generals were probably eyeing any other worlds to conquer." Vergil replied.

"Conquer?" Urahara asked.

"In a broad term." Griffon came forward. "What they want, is to sacrifice every living being in a world they invade and create a new demon general.

And generally just creating one regular demon king level entity demands the blood of hundreds of millions or even billions of lives.

That's what some of the worlds have been reduced to, just a sea of blood. And that's what I was warning about, to both Dante and Vergil.

Either kill all of them or kill none at all. Keeping even one alive would just be delaying a catastrophe to happen.

And in this vast multiverse, we can't know which of the worlds will be the unfortunate ones." He explained.

"So then, why didn't you kill all of them?" Hiyori asked.

"Heh, that's another problem on its own." Griffon chuckled.

Vergil explained, "Hell needs at least one strong lord to operate. We had decided not to kill Lucifer for that very reason.

But since he was the most problematic one, we had no choice but to do so. And in compensation, we were bound to keep five of the weaker ones, alive.

It was either that or stepping up ourselves as the lord of hell." Vergil chuckled.

"Well, it's at least clear, which option you chose." Shinji spoke with a smirk.

"What now, then?" Kensei, who was silent until now, asked.

Vergil replied, "Nothing. Only thing we need to find out, is how that girl got hold of Paimon's summoning sigil.

And as far as the demons go, as long as I'm here, they won't start a full-fledged war."

"But what about your world?" Yoruichi asked.

It was Griffon, who replied, "Dante's name alone, is enough for any demon with brains to back down."

"Ah right, your brother." Urahara added in.

They were still finding it hard to believe everything they were hearing. But Vergil had no reason to lie nor care if they believed him or not.

"Mr. Kisuke. Do you have any secret lab or something of sort, in this place?" Vergil asked.

"I do. Why though?"

"I have a 'gift', that a scientist like you would surely love." He replied.

Upon Urahara's and Vergil's request, the Visoreds waited in the room, while Urahara, Yoruichi and Vergil with Griffon and Shadow, followed Urahara to his secret lab.

After getting inside the room. Vergil pulled out the dead body of the demon from his sub-space and placed it on the floor.

"Is this?" Urahara was wide eyed and so was Yoruichi.

"Yes, the severed head and body of Paimon. Don't worry, he's truly dead. But I couldn't let such a valuable thing to go to waste.

Since I can see the spinning gears in your head. You can decide what you want to do with it." Vergil replied.

"Why are you trusting us with something so dangerous?" Yoruichi asked in a skeptical tone.

"Dangerous for you." Griffon spoke and then said, "The only thing that's a danger to Vergil is his brother and that is also true the other way around."

"But still, handing over a demon general's body to a mad scientist. Boss, what if he does something crazy with it.

Not that it would cause you any trouble, but still." Griffon whispered to Vergil but was still heard by Yoruichi and Urahara.

"The demons have already eyed this world, remember. And I have no doubt that you'd find a way to deal with some of them by yourselves, in the future." Vergil replied, looking at Urahara.

"I see. This is indeed a gift huh. You expect me to find anything usable, that would be effective against the demons, if we ever had to fight against them." Kisuke spoke.

Vergil nodded with a subtle smile.

"But wouldn't it mean, that we could also use that against you too? Since, you're also part demon or devil, as you like to call it." Urahara spoke.

Griffon let out a laugh listening to Urahara's question, "Hahaha… That's the best joke anyone's ever told boss… Ah, the guy with bucket hat, you've just made my day, thanks for that." He chuckled and looked at Vergil, who just ignored him.

Without answering his question Vergil spoke, "I hope you'll make good use of it, Mr. Kisuke."

He then opened a portal with his sword and walked through it along with Shadow, who followed him behind.

Before flying in the portal, Griffon spoke to Urahara, "Listen bucket hat. Even I don't understand what boss is thinking sometimes.

But just know one thing, as of now, we aren't your foes. And believe me when I say it, you owe it to the world to keep it that way. Adios !!" He did a salute with his wing before going in.

"Did you really have to ask that?" Yoruichi looked at Urahara and spoke in an exasperated tone.

Urahara didn't know what to say. It was just a genuine curiosity. Why was Vergil trusting them enough, to already give him something so valuable?

What they didn't know, was that Vergil was way beyond the boundaries of trust and deceit. He was doing this just out of pure goodwill, hoping that they wouldn't be completely hopeless when they have to face some of the stronger demons in the future.

But if they decided to betray him or use their new knowledge against him, well, there was always an option to just, Judgement Cut End anyone, who decides that it would be a good idea to try and step over him.

Somewhere in the Demon Realm, right after Paimon's death.

A mysterious figure sealed by spiky chains and skulls surrounding the entire place, suddenly trembled.

'The souls are getting restless. Hell's anchor is getting loosened. No… If this continues, the chaos will completely ruin my plans… What the hell is even happening?' The entity thought to itself, getting a bit restless.

At the same time, inside a palace high in the sky, only two beings could feel the turmoil in Hell. One of whom was a bald monk, who only felt the subtle changes.

However another being who was sealed and dismembered, could not only feel but see the changes that were happening.

But like always, he remained silent. His eyes lifeless and his expressions neutral.

Next day, in Vergil's home:

"Boss, I know Paimon would have kept causing havoc, if you'd let him live. But now that one of the five remaining anchors of hell has fallen, it's gonna be a whole another sh*tshow, you know." Griffon spoke as he was perched upon Vergil's shoulder.

"The one who caused us trouble is gone and what the remaining Generals do, that's none of my business.

They won't be getting their hands on this world. Nor the world where Dante is. They're smart enough not to waste their stupid lives on petty invasions." Vergil seemed confident that nothing else would happen.

"Paimon told you something more, didn't he?" Griffon asked.

"Paimon had his own plans. The other generals were unaware of his recent endeavors and since they were on a bit of odd terms, they won't care whether he lives or dies.

And I'm sure they are open to increase their personal workloads." Vergil smirked.

"Heh, that's all and good then. But why did you go out of your way to give that bucket-hat, Paimon's body." The bird asked.

"As I said already, one of the generals has already entered this world. And as far as we know, nothing is set in stone with how demons work.

So, it's better to be safe than sorry. They can't have me fighting every dime a dozen demon for their sake." Vergil replied.

Griffon was stunned, 'Vergil is showing goodwill?' "Oy, who the hell are you? Where's my boss?" He questioned the man, who just rolled his eyes and spoke, "I was craving for some smoked turkey."

Immediately changing his demeanor, Griffon said, "I mean, nice going boss. You're such a good person. Keep it up and please don't change."

Vergil just ignored him and kept going through the newspaper that he was reading. The headline of which, read:

{Mysterious Deaths in Naka Ward. People Horrified of What they Discovered.}

He was looking at the image of dead bodies with a frown. Closing his eyes he told to himself, 'You're not a god. You can't save everyone nor can be everywhere all the times. So, no use frowning over what's already happened.'

He wasn't much conflicted per say, but the possibility of him being able to stop those deaths made the morality of his human side, tremble a bit.

But he knew better than to have a wishful thinking.

But what about the deaths that he knew for sure would be happening.

'Yeah, those are entirely different stories.' He smirked, remembering a certain honey-blonde haired woman.
