"I'd rather die than live in a world without you..." Usually, it's the zombie that runs after the human. But what if it's the other way around? It's the undead that gets caught and by a hopeless romantic to top it off. "The more I think of you, the greater my craving seems to get. I feel like I want to eat you up every time I see you... And here I thought you're the zombie around here, princess..." This is a story about an undead girl who awakens to find herself locked up by a mysterious yet handsome guy in a castle that he claims as their home. Said guy turns out to be an important piece of her missing memories. Why does he seem to care so much for her? What's up with this castle and princess treatment? And why does he not want her to leave? With the help of a diary, secrets start to unravel as the truth of their pasts unfold. All the while, she has to deal with this doting human's romantic gestures and make sure not to fall. She swore not to fall and be lied to anymore - Not after she was turned into a human test subject and was experimented on. Not after she ended up facing her eventual demise. Not after she was revived but got killed again for the second time and was left behind. Above all, not after she fell deep in love with a boy who's too out of her reach but only to get indirectly rejected and suffer in the hands of those he loves - his family and his dreams. --- Queen of friendzone, one-master-dog, a stubborn leech - Anastasia Bellen got those reputations before. Ever since she fell in love with a very special boy, everything slowly went down for her. He's a famous teen supermodel, a wealthy heir and someone who seems to have everything. She, on the other hand, is only a baker's daughter and a mere friend. Despite his father opposing their friendship and a fiancee appearing in the picture, Anastasia still wants to be with him even if she gets nothing in return. Little did she know that this love of hers would suddenly change her life forever - and soon, the entire world. -- WPC #135 Silver Tier Winner -- [Warning: Mature Content] (Cover Photo's not mine: Credits to the original artist) - Follow me on Instagram (acieetin) - DM me on Discord (Aciee#1841)

Chapter 1The Chase

"No, no, no! I can't die like this! I still want to live! I can't die! I can't!"

Never did Anastasia think that a typical delivery day would take a sinister turn.

"Please, somebody help me! Anyone, please! Please help me!"

Try as she might, but calling for rescue is futile. Shouting isn't getting her anywhere, and because of that, breathing for air has only become more laborious.

Her legs are already aching from all the running she did. Just like the beads of sweat that are streaming down her forehead, her tears also begin to burst forth like water from a dam.

Anastasia isn't supposed to be in a life-and-death situation right now. After all, she was just going by her daily routine like she always did.

Everyday, she helps out in her parents' bakery by delivering breads in their stead. She hops from one house to another, riding on a bicycle that serves as her only companion whenever she does so.

Unfortunately, today has turned out to be not her typical delivery day.

"I don't know what they need from me. We're not even rich. Why are they chasing after me like this?!"

What made it take a horrendous twist was the appearance of these kidnappers in black suit.

Seconds of running turn into minutes of wishful thinking. No one seems to be coming. She's all alone in that caliginous alley, desperately searching for the end of this nightmarish tunnel.

As soon as she reaches a dead end, she knows that she's already done for. The huge chunk of blocks that came into view had her cornered, completely ensnared into an imperceptible trap of an unascertained predator.

"Don't move. Just where did you think you're going?" one of them snarled while she only returned a spiteful scowl.

"Away from you, I guess."

Unlike the fact that she's now helplessly backed into a corner, Anastasia never backs down without a fight.

She will even climb up this wall if she has to. She will definitely get out of this place. She'll live and go back home. She'll kiss her parents goodnight later.

She'll go to school on the next day and graduate on the following year. She'll go to a university and be a dashing college student. She will even confess to her crush despite her hundred failed attempts to do so -

Or so she thought.

Before Anastasia knows it, the man already has his hands on her. Then, in the blink of an eye, everything goes pitch black as she loses consciousness.

---

"Ughhh..."

Groaning, Anastasia starts to stir awake from her slumber, weakly thrashing her body around. She tries to roll over but to no avail.

Solid only crashes on solid. The space around her appears to be cramped and narrow. It's just big enough for her small figure to fit in.

Then, ever so delicately, her eyes flutter open like the wings of a butterfly, but instead of the warm and mellow daylight hues of spring, she is greeted by coal darkness that seems to resemble the end of an abyss.

"What the...?"

First time waking up and Anastasia is already dumbfounded.

Dumbfounded that she can't remember a single thing.

Dumbfounded that she can't move an inch.

And most of all, she's immensely dumbfounded by one appalling realization.

"Is this a coffin?!"

All this time, Anastasia has been lying inside a coffin with her body drowning in a pool of scentless roses.

She begins to freak out as she moves around, hands flailing everywhere in panic. But then, she didn't expect that a single punch on the lid would cause it to crack almost instantly.

Now, a huge veering line has formed on its surface, paving way for a streak of light. It takes a few seconds for her eyes to adjust to this sudden brightness.

As soon as she can finally see properly again, she goes straight for the kill and smashes the wooden lid.

"Seriously, where on earth am I?" Anastasia wondered out loud, immediately scanning around her surroundings right after stepping out of the coffin.

The first thing that comes into view is this palatial-like room with dainty porcelains and luxurious chandeliers hanging all over a grandiose ceiling. Its alabaster wall interior is as white as snow, and everything around her is simply exquisite.

"You're awake?" a husky, masculine voice questioned all of the sudden. Along with that is the sound of approaching footsteps.

Then, she freezes.

Caught off guard, Anastasia slowly turns to his direction. Standing by the doorway at the moment is an unfamiliar man dressed in black.

She can make out his lean figure, unkempt light brown hair that seems to shine a brilliant golden honey luster once streaked by light, and deep crimson irises that glisten with an enigmatic emotion.

But then, for some reason, the rest of his frame doesn't seem to register in her head. He appears hazy and inscrutable, almost like a spectre.

"Don't move. I'll go there."

At that, Anastasia finds herself thunderstruck all of the sudden. A certain memory just flashed through her mind like a strike of lightning - the image of a man in black chasing after her.

Recalling that bloodcurdling scene makes her head throb as her entirety suddenly feels like a ticking time bomb. She can't help but screech in pain, and before she knows it, she's starting to break out into a cold sweat. At this point, she's even close to hyperventilating.

For an unknown cause, looking at this unfamiliar guy in front of her makes her think that she should be anywhere else but here.

Anastasia doesn't know what's going on nor does she remember what happened before this encounter. Yet, her instinct is telling her to flee at once. It's telling her to escape this place and to avoid this shady person like a plague.

Then, with that, Anastasia finds herself running for her life once again.

Be Careful What You Wish For: A Zombie Apocalypse

I see dead people. But hey, it’s the zombie apocalypse, everyone is seeing dead people, including a blind girl. It’s not like I am that special. For a while, I thought I was going to be Cinderella, complete with the cruel stepfamily and the little mice for helpers. But instead of mice, I got demons from hell with a taste for chaos. Then again, there is nothing wrong with a little chaos in the middle of the apocalypse. It’s what makes life worth living. Unfortunately for others, they don’t quite see it that way. You see, I have a gift. One that isn’t exactly mine, but I can use it however I see fit. My gift is granting wishes. I'm a genie without a bottle, but it would be nice if people appreciated me more. All the humans ask for is the same thing… more food here, shelter there, kill these people, torture those. And I do it all, for a small price. I don’t ask for money or food, I can get that on my own. No, I want favors, souls, something that means everything for the other person. And they give it to me. Their momentary desire worth their long term happiness. But by the time they discover that, I’m long gone, already moved on to my next… client. I know I look young, starvation and abuse will do that to a girl. Humans tell me that I shouldn’t be wandering out there alone. Some try to help me… most don’t. But whoever said I was by myself? Just because others couldn’t see them didn’t mean my demons ever left. I still hear their voices in my head, whispering words of encouragement and love. For them, I’d do anything. Kill anyone. Destroy anything. After all, life is just a game, right? Those still alive at the end of the day were the lucky ones. Those who died were not. Everything is just a game of chance, all a human has to do is roll the dice. My only word of advice is to be careful what you wish for… you just might get it. My name is Hattie, welcome to my world. Would you like a cup of tea?

Eve of the Doomsday

Eve Ziffer always believed that one day her nano-machines would save humanity. It needed to be saved—from pollution, from the climate change, from the wars. Yet in the end, her research instead turned out to be the thing that pushed it into the very abyss. After surviving an attack and waking up from a six-years long coma that followed, Eve opens her eyes to see the world changed beyond recognition. Walking corpses roam the streets, and humans fight them with swords and superpowers. Now Eve is the only person able to finish her own work and fix the nano-machines that brought this devastation. Whether the last vestiges of mankind would disappear, or would the human race rise like a phoenix from the ashes—all lies in hands of Eve and the people she will meet along the way. They will fight and they will scheme and they will talk, because human vices are adversaries as bad as the zombies; and trials of friendship and love can be as perilous as any battle. ===================== Victor leaned towards her face, burning her with his glare. “No.” “I’m doing this for myself, for you and for science. Any single one of these reasons is enough to keep disagreeing with you.” Victor’s eyes dropped to her lips. ‘There is more than a single way to dominate a person…’ Before he could even try to stop himself, he dived in, pressing his lips on hers. His hand grabbed the back of Eve’s head, another fell on Eve’s thin waist and followed the alluring lines of her figure to her hip. His body was burning with inner fire. Eve was too shocked to think. She never expected for this standoff to end like it did. Victor kissed her as if he wanted to eat her. His bites stung, but his lips soothed. The heat of his hand burned her skin even through clothes. Then Eve finally regained her sanity. She drove her knee into Victor’s groin. He gasped and bended in pain, letting Eve go. Before he could resist, she continued the combo with a strike to the back of his head and a submission hold on his arm. “What are you doing?! I should’ve listened to Xia better. Men really are worse than dogs! How did I miss the moment when your brain had turned into mush, Victor?” “I didn’t think that I would need to spell it out, but there can be no romantic interactions in work time, and no romantic relations between researchers and test subjects. More than that, I’m not interested!” ==================== [Status: completed] Warning!
