Chapter 6 - Timing

Now. Arkham Asylum. Courtyard.

Mylo shrugged, "stopping a nuclear bomb from going off." He then looked at her purple and yellow batcycle behind her. "Are we riding that?" He was plain and to the point, he had no time to spare for niceties.

Batgirl blinked in surprise and nodded in response. She was still processing his words as he walked past her. Walking up next to the batcycle.

"Cool tech. Awful color scheme." Mylo double tapped his commlink, "Phoenix I am on the surface, where am I going?" Mylo seemed to be listening to someone over his comm piece.

Batgirl jumped in surprise, "hey wait a minute." Hopping on her batcycle she looked back as Mylo hopped on behind her. "My Batcycle is perfectly stylish." As they started roaring down the road Mylo told her the destination, "I recognize the name of the dockyard. Penny-One, that dockyard is under Black Mask's control isn't it?"

"Yes, Batgirl." The voice answered over a speaker built into the Batcycle. "The dockyard in question is under heavy protection and surveillance by Black Mask. They smuggle narcotics and weapons but Batman is still building a case and finding the supplier. I will also inform Batman of the nuclear bomb as well." The voice is most definitely british.

"Don't bother. If it is there I can defuse it. Besides from what I understand he has his dance card filled up already." Mylo interjected.

"But-" The British voice tried to speak.

"Either way the chances are the bomb has not even been triggered even if it is there. It might be at one of the other five locations That my associates are clearing." Mylo told them.

"He is right Penny-One, besides we should be just fine handling some Black Mask goons." Batgirl told him.

There was a sigh, "very well Batgirl. But as soon as he is finished with Hush and Red Claw I will apprise him of the situation."

Now. Space. Justice League Watchtower.

They watched Doctor Fate for almost half an hour before he suddenly stopped and landed on the ground as the golden symbols and circles dispersed in front of them.

"Question, you are correct. The weapons are both from Thanagar. But the one used on Supergirl was made of pure magic and not Nth metal." Doctor Fate explained.

"Meaning, this might be something different then the invasion they attempted last time." Question analyzed. "Since they went after Hawkgirl should we assume it is revenge for when the Thanagarians tried to conquer and subsequently destroy Earth. But before they completed planning Superman and Supergirl happened upon them by accident."

"Meaning they might just be here for Hawkgirl or something else, but I thought Thanagarians did not use magic." Wonder Woman suggested. Question shrugged in response.

"We are going off of what we do know. See if you can raise Green Arrow on the comms. Martian Manhunter went along with Green Arrow and a few others went to Hawkgirl when her comlink cut out." Question asked.

Now. Gotham City. Eastern Dockyard.

"Here we are." Batgirl climbed off her Batcycle after Mylo did. Mylo walked towards the gate and held the lock in his hand that was keeping the gate closed. "Give me a second I have a lockpick-"

*Chink*

Batgirl only looked away for a moment but when she turned back around after hearing the breaking of metal, she was surprised to see he had leveraged a knife to break the lock so quickly. She was even more surprised when he flipped the knife back into its sheath.

Mylo walked in and made his way towards a grouping of shipping containers, "Batgirl do you have a geiger counter?"

"Yes, I will grab it." Batgirl went over to her Batcycle and opened up a compartment. Pulling out a geiger counter she walked over to Mylo and turned it on. It started beeping quietly.

Mylo held out his hand and Batgirl handed him the geiger counter, "go to the dockyard office. I need the manifest for Multigon International. It will speed things up."

Batgirl sighed and walked away, "why am I listening to him again? Oh that's right, it is because I need to keep an eye on him to prevent him from killing anymore criminals."

—------------------------------------

Now. Gotham City. Multigon International.

Scarlett's footsteps were quick as she walked over the corpses of the security guards. Her squad followed behind her. All the other locations had been cleared, this was the last spot besides the dockyard Mylo was supposed to be checking.

A loud beeping started to sound off from her belt. She pulled out the geiger counter and started to follow the readings. A moment later she was in front of a box with a label of Jasgiw International, one of Riddler's front companies. Not very discreetly or cleverly named, how it slipped through the cracks she will never know.

She grabbed the lid and pulled it open causing the wood to crack and splinter. Then she sucked in a breath of air at the sight before her. Then touching her comlink she spoke, "Thanatos, this is Phoenix. I have the nuclear bomb in hand. It appears to have a timer on it that hasn't been triggered. My team will bring it back to base."

"Phoenix, there is a problem." She heard Mylo over the commlink, he sounded somewhere in between exasperated and angry. "Because I am staring at a nuclear bomb with a timer attached as well."

Scarlett did a double take, "What? That means there is-" She stopped talking as the timer on the bomb lit up and started going down. "Shit. Mylo-"

"Yeah, my timer started. Thirty minutes?"

"Yes…" Scarlett looked closer at her bomb, finding english written on the bomb along with american military markings. At least she knew where this one was from.

—---------------------------------------

Now. Gotham City. Eastern Dockyard.

Mylo flashed a light on the nuclear bomb before him while Batgirl stepped out, probably to dial up her 'person in the chair'. This means she will get Batman involved.

Mylo spotted Russian writing on his bomb, "Phoenix, this is Thanatos. Mine is from the Russians, it seems they either lost or sold a bomb to this debacle."

"Well that is annoying. I will call it in. Will you need help-" Scarlett stopped speaking as Mylo could hear gunfire over the comlink. "Ah Shit, looks like I have company in the form of Red Claw and her lackeys."

Mylo shook his head then he heard gun fire and bullets bouncing off of the shipping container. As well as the sound of ricocheting bullets.

"Hey mister military guy, are you okay in there? Seems like Hush and some of his goons brought the party to us." Batgirl yelled from what sounded like the other side of the wall.

"Just fine, I am going to defuse the bomb. I suggest you keep them off me." Mylo yelled back as he started looking over the bomb.

There were several wires connecting the bomb but no trigger connected to the actual warhead. It looked like a large package of C4 was going to be used to trigger the explosion externally. This makes it so much easier to defuse, or rather to remove the bomb.

—--------------------------------------------

Now. Space. Justice League Watchtower.

"Hey Wonder Woman, Green Arrow here. What's wrong?" Green Arrow asked.

"Did you find Hawkgirl? We have a rough idea of what is going on." Wonder Woman explained briefly.

"No, we found some blood and her comlink at her last known location. But she is gone. Has Supergirl remembered anything?" Green Arrow asked.

"No she hasn't, but the Question and Fate has worked out that it is Thanagarians using magical weapons or some form of magic. That means they won't be too far. We will survey and scan the sky from the Watchtower, you look on the ground for their ship." Wonder Woman stated.

—---------------------------------------

Now. Gotham City. Eastern Dockyard.

It took about ten minutes for him to disconnect the C4 explosives from the nuclear warhead. It took so long due to him being careful about triggering the bomb. Unfortunately during that time, the sound of gun fire and fighting got close enough that he could tell they were just outside.

Once he had the C4 he walked to the container door and glanced out. But had to retract his head as the bullet bounced past his head.

"Get to the container there is someone in there!" Mylo heard the yelling of someone with a gravelly voice.

"Hey Batgirl, are you still alive?" Mylo called out as he kicked the door fully open catching a goon who was walking forward. The goon screeched as he flew into another container and fell unconscious. He then peeked around the door and saw over a dozen goons scattered throughout the open yard area that was nearby.

He opened fire with his sidearm and many of the goons started to duck behind cover. One particular character, a man wrapped in bandages and in a trenchcoat, seemed surprised which gave Mylo a chance to shoot him. Unfortunately he dived behind cover causing him to only get winged in the shoulder.

"Yeah, I am above you. Batman's on his way. How are you doing on the bomb?" Batgirl's voice came from above him. She was probably on the roof.

Mylo tossed the bomb onto the roof of the shipping container, "get that out of here and we should be fine." He then tapped his earpiece three times, "headquarters this is Thanatos, I have a Russian nuclear warhead in need of a pick up at the Eastern Dockyard in Gotham."

There was a yelp from Batgirl, "this is a lot of C4. I will be back in a moment."

"Thanatos, this is headquarters. We have a Hummingbird on route to pick you and the warhead up. Clear the area, you have been given authorization to kill if need be." Mylo recognized Waller's voice over the commlink.

"Yes, ma'am." Mylo stepped out of the shipping container and started to gun down the goons. Quickly firing and reloading his rifle as he went. As he walked forward some of the goons popped out of their hiding spots and shot at Mylo. When the bullets hit him, he didn't even flinch. Hush saw the way Mylo was moving, experienced and ruthless, and decided it was time to run.

When Mylo shot the last two goons who were backing away he turned his attention to Hush and saw him duck around the corner. He clicked his tongue in anger and walked back to the shipping container. He was sure karma would catch up with Hush eventually.

He grabbed the box with the Russian nuclear warhead and started pulling it out of the container. It was heavy but he could easily lift it. Once it was out in the middle in the open area he sat on top of the box.

"Phoenix, this is Thanatos. I am done on my end, how about you?" Mylo only had to wait for a moment for a reply.

"Diffused, we are getting back in our military transport with the nuke in hand. Well aside from getting to watch an entertaining fight between the new Robin and Red Claw we are all done." Scarlett responded.

"In that case can you jump on a computer and wipe that footage from the Eastern Dockyard for the last five minutes." Mylo could feel two presences approaching him. They were silent but his senses were heightened enough to hear the movement.

"Sure, give me a moment." Scarlett answered.

Batgirl appeared next to him by landing from a shipping container she jumped from. "Hey, I was only gone for five minutes. Where did Hush go?" She frowned at the sight of the bodies lying around.

"He ran, what did you do with the bomb?" Mylo asked.

"I-" *Boom!* They could see the explosion coming from somewhere out in the Gotham Bay. "I put it on a boat, that was not eighteen minutes. That was more like five minutes, what happened?"

"Hush remote detonated the bomb." A gravelly voice responded. Batman had appeared behind Mylo, but he didn't even flinch. He could feel him slowly walk up behind him. "Hush got away?"

"Sure, but I would look at hospitals. I winged him, so he is gonna head to a doctor or his arm will become useless in a few hours." Mylo suggested.

Batman growled as he looked around at the bodies, "you killed them? Why? You seemed capable enough to take them down without killing them at all."

Mylo could figure out what Batman was doing. He was testing the waters, because Mylo's non-existence on the virtual web is a fact that terrifies even Waller. Let alone someone who is almost as paranoid and is only scratching the surface. "Batman, I am running on four hours of sleep and I have been working for six days with only small naps lasting less than an hour. Either way, you have a bigger fish to fry than these nukes."

Batman narrowed his eyes, "bigger?"

"Yes, I suggest you check in with your Justice League pals." As Mylo was talking he stood up and looked up. Batman and Batgirl looked up as well in time to see a platform lower revealing a hidden ship and men in black plated combat armor with gas masks walked down the ramp as the hidden ship landed. They grabbed the box with the Russian nuclear warhead. They completely ignored the presence of Batman and Batgirl.

"I- I didn't hear it coming." Batgirl had a look of shock on her face. Batman frowned and made a slight growl.

Mylo walked aboard after the box and the soldiers. "I am sure we will see each other again soon. But for now, goodbye."

When the ramp raised and the ship was completely invisible again all they heard or felt was the wind and a warm breeze coming from above.

"Batman, what was that?" Batgirl asked as she started to follow him to the Dockyard gate.

"Hmm… for the first time I don't know. We should find Hush quickly, I also need to check in with the League and Robin." Batman answered. Clearly thrown off by the turn of events as well as his own clear lack of knowledge of the situation.

—----------------------------------------

Now. Gotham City. Multigon International.

Robin panted heavily as he stood over an unconscious Red Claw. She was a tough fight, no wonder Batman warned him about her.

Tim Drake dropped back on his butt as he looked over at the soldiers he saw earlier they had piled into a military truck. They started cheering for him, "good job kid!" "Keep up the good work!" The truck then started to pull away.

There was a beep on his commlink, "Robin, are you finished? GCPD is on the way."

"Yes, I just finished taking down Red Claw. A group of soldiers were just here, they killed Red Claw's subordinates and took a large box. I think it had a logo for one of Riddler's holding companies." Robin responded as he looked around the area.

He could hear a grunt over the line, "ignore them. Hand Red Claw over to GCPD and then make your way back to the cave. Batgirl will meet you there, Hush has escaped through the sewer system and I need to be at the Asylum to put the remaining escapees back in their cells." Batman decided he needed to finish this fast.

"Okay, you got it bats."
