Chapter 52

Dio arrived at the largest tent in the village, and the scene almost made him sick.

There are injured people lying all over the place, and most of them are screaming in pain and rolling on the ground as they don't have many medical supplies.

There is blood everywhere.

They tried to keep the place as clean as they could, but it was hard to do without the right tools.

There are many kinds of injuries here, but gunshot wounds are the most common.

Dio had no medical training beyond the basic first aid he received from Diana and the A.R.G.U.S. personnel, but that's already quite useful here.

They have one doctor who is over fifty years old and two nurses.

The doctor was born in this small village before it was attacked, and his previous medical concerns were more common infections than gunshot wounds.

He's doing the best he can, working tirelessly for days and only stopping when he's nearly passing out.

Dio walked among the wounded on the ground and helped as much as he could. They change bandages using old cloth rags since they don't have gauze.

Before using them, they soak them in vodka, which is the one thing that isn't in short supply in the city.

Dio felt bad when he saw so much pain.

Dio can't do anything to change the situation in this small country, even with all his powers, and no one else is going to help them either.

Kaznia is located in Eastern Europe, in the Balkan Mountains. There are natural defenses all around the country.

The poor location and the lack of useful and valuable resources in the country mean that no neighboring countries try to help in any way.

They always say that changing this would be against the law as an excuse.

However, they all know that if this country had a large reserve of oil, other nations would already have their soldiers marching in to provide assistance, prevent further deaths, and restore order—that's what they would call it.

After being here for three days, Dio really wants to help them, but there's nothing to be done since not even the League of Justice can change the overall situation.

They could come here and remove the King from the throne, but whoever takes over would probably be the military leader, who is also not a good person.

The rebel leader would have a greater chance of seizing power.

The problem is that he sees anyone who is not under his control as an enemy, which is why the rebels are also harming the people.

There's no good candidate with the status to take power and genuinely help the people.

They need to do their best not to be recognized, as this task is still a secret.

Otherwise, the Church can create many problems for them, so Dio will wear this until they get underground.

Dio looked to the side and saw that Roy was also ready. He's wearing a black outfit similar to Dio's with a black bow on his back.

Roy then crouched to pick up the communicator and put it in his ear, and then it's time for the mask covering his face, which Dio was also wearing.

They exit the tent as quietly as possible. Roy immediately ran like a good ninja, doing a great job of using the shadows as allies.

Dio just uses his shadow movement and soon finds himself leaning against an almost destroyed wall.

This is the meeting point, one of the few buildings in the village that still has some standing walls.

They chose this house because it belonged to the mayor, and it's the only one with standing walls near the church that isn't heavily guarded.

The first problem with the invasion is the location. The church they were trying to enter is right in the center of the city, with nothing around it.

The lights and guards in the bell tower will see anything that tries to get close.

The second problem is the cameras, and the third problem is the ten Church of Blood members patrolling the perimeter, but there's a time gap between their rounds.

After waiting alone for five minutes, Roy entered the ruined house and leaned his back against the wall.

"How much time?"

Roy asked in a low voice, referring to the patrol time.

"One minute."

Dio replied.

One minute later, the east wall of the church is unguarded.

Dio touched Roy's shoulder and said it in a low voice.

(I Summon the Forgetfulness of King Lethe!)

A thin layer of milky white energy then surrounded both their bodies completely.

They then jumped over the old brick wall and ran across the field towards the church. The spell he just used is focused on using the part of the river of forgetfulness.

In short, the guards and even the cameras won't be able to see them now. It's not like they were invisible; they can still see them, but they simply forget what they saw as soon as their eyes see them.

It's the perfect spell to go hidden.

Of course, it has limitations, and the energy consumption increases with the number of eyes Dio has to affect, which is why he waited for the patrol to pass.

In a few seconds, they reach their destination, and once again, they press against the white-painted wooden wall of the church.

The east wall is right under the bell tower, and it was their current target.

Roy pulled his bow from his back and put a black arrow in a string, then shot it high into the air.

The arrow had a cable attached to it, which was stretched as its tip hit the roof of the tower.

At this point, Dio's spell had already been canceled, so they needed to act quickly. Roy began climbing the one-story church wall.

Roy easily reached the top of the tower in seconds.

It was at this moment that one of the guards approached this wall, looked down, and froze after seeing someone climbing in this way.

Roy didn't freeze; instead, he punched the guard in the face, which caused the guard to fall backward.

Dio knew there were two guards in the tower, so he crouched on his knees and jumped inside without any trouble.

When Dio got inside the bell tower, he saw that the second guard was picking up a gun from the ground while his back was turned away from him.

Dio quickly moved and struck him in the neck using a technique Etta Candy, Diana's best friend and the most skilled and entertaining spy he had ever seen, had taught him.

When the guard fell unconscious, Roy also entered.

Dio looked around; there wasn't much in this small tower with just two chairs, a radio, and two guards wearing the Church's red uniforms.

The reason they chose to enter through the tower was due to the trapdoor on the floor, which leads to the staircase that goes to the back of the church, and it should be empty.

The location is very close to the entrance of the tunnel.

Before opening the trapdoor, Roy tapped his ear communicator and said, "We're entering."

This is the signal for the others to invade through the entrance they created.

With the signal given, Dio opened the trapdoor, and an old wooden staircase appeared.

Dio was the first to go down, but he didn't descend the stairs; he simply jumped.

Dio held on to the walls on both sides with his arms and legs fully extended just before he hit the ground.

This slowed him down and stopped the noise.

Roy used the same rope he used to climb to the tower to descend, and without making any noise, he was on the ground.

They walked over to the door at the end of the corridor they had fallen into and opened it.

They then walked into another dimly lit hallway made of old wood.

It should lead them directly to the back of the church.
