On the first-floor rooftop of a simple café, Batman paused in his advance to assess the overall situation.
He recently heard that a powerful entity had appeared and was heading his way.
Now, after hearing a speech from this entity claiming to be Cain, his city is suffering even more.
"Master Bruce, the officers won't hold out much longer. I recommend an immediate retreat."
Alfred spoke with respect through the communicator while operating the company's satellites to closely monitor what was happening.
Starfire soared above him from his left side while sending start bolts toward the ground to help him and kill his enemies.
"We can use the Batwing to clear a path."
Robin suggested and landed using his Grapple Gun.
"I agree,"
Batman admitted.
From above, the batwing acted swiftly while bombarding the street where the police were and clearing their way.
It should be the duty of these men to protect civilians, but they were so overwhelmed that they could not help anyone.
"Kid Flash, how's the civilian evacuation going?"
Baltman asked unfazed by the constant explosions.
"I'm going as fast as I can, but there are too many, and I'm running out of energy!"
Kid Flash said it out of breath.
A lot more people would have died if Kid Flash hadn't gotten innocent people out of the area.
"You're out of energy? I'm the one without arrows!"
Speedy took the opportunity to express his frustration about fighting an army of vampires with a bow lacking arrows.
"This is reminding me a bit of hell!"
Constantine appeared beside them while smoking his cigarette.
"Hell that you caused, you son of a bitch!"
Robin cursed him.
"Watch your tongue."
Batman warned him.
"No need, Batman. I've been called worse."
Constantine responded and tossed the remnants of his cigarette onto the ground below.
The still-lit cigarette creates a ridiculous fire that spreads in various directions as it hits the ground.
A vampire engulfed in flames and screaming in pain was at the end of each path.
"It's getting harder and harder to do magic; the hellfire summoning spell should have killed at least twenty before disappearing."
Constantine said that and put another cigarette in his mouth.
"Sir, the commissioner and what's left of the police force managed to retreat. I request permission to attack the target with lethal force."
Alfred said.
Batman didn't have to think much about it.
"Do it!"
The Batwing turned in the air and sped towards Cain with full force.
Batman on the rooftop pulled out his grapple gun and launched it at the building on the other side of the street.
Robin did the same.
On another rooftop, the two had a better view of the target about to be attacked by the Batwing.
Their masks had some scope, and this allowed them to see Cain perfectly floating in the air emanating his energy with Kírix.
Batman was about to cancel the attack when Kírix released his sword and kicked Cain's face.
Cain's didn't move, but by being free and falling, he blocked the Batwing's view, which made everything attack him.
The explosions from the missiles and the shots from the anti-tank ammunition machine guns blocked their vision.
The Batwing passed its target and stopped the attack while turning in the air for another round of fire.
A fast-moving object in the form of a whip cut through the smoke in front of the batwing and cut one of its wings.
The Batwing lost control and exploded into a building on the left.
Shortly after, the smoke cleared, and Cain was still in the same place, untouched and unharmed.
"Is he really immortal?"
Robin asked with more fear.
"He may be immortal, but he's not invincible."
Batman responded while already scheming future plans to go against an immortal being.
...
Dio ignored the bat-like jet exploding against a nearby building.
He had more pressing issues to deal with, like the fact that Cain's magic had made the vampires around him stronger.
He escaped the frying pan and fell into the fire.
Dio couldn't avoid falling backwards to the ground because he couldn't fly and didn't want to teleport to save energy, as Cain's red energy was draining him so much.
It looks like a scene from a zombie movie because now several vampires are trying to bite him.
The shield that covered his face and some of his body was the only thing between them and his neck, and the sound of their nails scratching it was making him uncomfortable.
"BOOOOM!"
Dio felt a surge of magical energy pass above him, and the noise of the vampires and their weight on him disappeared.
Dio removed the shield from in front of his face and saw the night sky tinted red.
"How long are you going to lie there!?"
Zatanna shouted.
Dio stood up, and he saw that Zatanna and Raven had managed to arrive.
"How was it?"
Zatanna asked while firing bursts of bright silver energy from her wand against the army of vampires ahead.
Zatanna was referring to the attack against the head of the snake.
Raven floated a few inches above the ground and glided behind him. She raised her hands, which made the ground shake.
She emitted dark energy that made metal threads rise from the ground like snakes and attack the vampires around them to tear them apart.
"At the moment, he is more powerful than all of us, both physically and magically."
Dio honestly answered while looking up at him.
Dio didn't expect him to be so strong, but it made sense that his physical strength surpassed his since he was now draining the energy from almost the entire city.
This gives them an advantage because Zatanna and Raven could still use their magic, but Dio could see that Zatanna was working hard to keep up a simple magic burst.
They need Starfire; maybe it will increase our chances.
The vampires in front of Dio move forward with eyes that are now glowing golden.
"Starfire! We need you here, now!"
Dio shouted into his communicator while striking his shield with his conjured sword back into his hand.
"BAAAAAANG!"
The explosion of divine energy was always a great way to keep enemies away.
They fell to the ground, and Dio advanced while cutting through those who were in his way with his sword.
"BAANG!"
One of the windows up there blew up as Starfire flew through it.
Dio knew she was serious with her hair on fire.
"Burn it all!"
Dio shouted to her, and she understood him perfectly.
"Both of you, protect yourselves!"
Dio said to Raven and Zatanna on the ground.
Dio looked back up.
Starfire already had both hands above her head and made this dark part of the city bright again with the light.
Zatanna and Raven didn't immediately do as he said, but after seeing him crouch down and put the shield above his head, they moved more quickly.
The vampires reached Dio and surrounded him, and from above, Starfire shot her starbolts hitting his shield and exploding everything.
"BOOM!"
Dio looked to the side, and all he saw were bright flames burning the vampires at her touch.
When it was all over and Dio stood up, the street was filled with standing skeletons, which then began to crumble in the wind.
Dio's shield remained intact as always, but even it was red and smoking due to the high temperature it endured.
"Good jo...!"
"BOOOOM!"
Cain grabbed Starfire by the throat and slammed her body into a building window ahead as Dio went to compliment her.
"Insect, how dare you kill my children!"
Cain spoke with a cold.
Starfire should have been able to easily escape this situation, but she was now paralyzed, just holding onto his wrist.
Dio knelt down to jump, but Raven was faster.
Raven popped out of the portal that formed on the glass next to Starfire and pointed her hand at Cain while her eyes went black.
"Azarath Metrion Zinthos!"
The portal that she crossed with only half of her body grew to cover the whole floor, and two legs of the black raven appeared and attacked Cain.
At the same time, Starfire's body is sucked into the darkness, which moves her away.
"Disgusting demonic magic!"
Cain didn't like Raven's magic at all, so he fired his own red energy against the black after releasing Starfire.
Raven's plan was already accomplished when she took Starfire and retreated before the entire floor erupted.
They both reappeared on Dio's side, along with Zatanna.
"A more detailed warning next time would be good."
Raven said he was still not very happy with his previous move.
"Are you okay?"
Dio asked Raven with concern.
"I'll stay, as soon as this is all over."
Raven replied.
Starfire stood up and touched her neck.
"This guy doesn't seem to be that strong, but when he touched me, I felt so weak that I couldn't move properly."
Starfire explained.
"Any ideas?"
Dio asked them.
From their looks, Dio could see that they didn't have any.
"The problem is not the ideas, but how to make them work. This idiot destroyed two area spells I placed in this part of the city just by appearing, meaning if we don't deal with this aura, we can't do anything."
Zatanna explained.
